I love headwinds. Great training especially if you are a time trialist.

What about mineral oil. Will I just need to top up a little bit? Do I need specific type for Shimano?

I have been using Mavic wheels since 1988, need I say more. They have never let me down.

I have recently noticed some strange marks on the trails near me between Lydbrook and the A4136. I guess one of these contraptions could be responsible.

Simple law of physics. Burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight and vice versa.

Ebay was so much better in the early days. A proper auction site where you really could get a bargain.
What we need now are alternatives to give ebay some competition. It will happen one day.

Aren’t there enough cars on the road already? Why on earth would you want to make a special journey just to ride a bike? If you are going away on holiday or off to a race fair enough.

Being an accountant I can tell just about every accounts department now is dire. Full of young people that ponce about on spreadsheets all day and don’t know simple double entry bookkeeping.

I moved here this time last year and it is amazing. I cycle straight out my garage and am on the old railway line that used to go through Lydbrook.

There is something for every kind of cyclist. Being an ex time trialer I stick to the faster tracks.

It can get very busy at weekends and also on school holidays but you can avoid that once you know your way around.

Be prepared to get wet this weekend though. I was out yesterday and came back wet and muddy!

I have beaten some ebike users in the Forest of Dean this week on Strava, how enjoyable!!

Some of the times recorded are so obviously done on an ebike especially up some of the long drags here in the Forest of Dean. I find it laughable and pathetic that they claim to have done it on a standard bike.

It’s the cheating swines on Strava that cheese me off.

Thanks for that, didn’t realise Screwfix would sell that.

Was snowing for about 30 minutes here in the Forest of Dean and down to 30 degrees fahrenheit at lunchtime.

So one more question – once repair has been made is that just a temporary fix to get you home or can you just go on using that tyre indefinately?

It’s an old Acer laptop, (it’s very small and light and doesn’t have a CD Rom drive) that I got from a friend and they had never used Office so it has only been used by myself. I only use it for doing my finances on a simple spreadsheet. I don’t access the internet with it so just need to enter a product key and I will be happy with that.

I can’t personally recommend these, but I’m seeing them plastered all over Facebook at the moment and, damn, they do look cool. Well, cool if you like riding looking like you have wellies on

Interested in any feedback from anyone who has managed to get hold of a pair.

Think I would rather have cold feet than wear those!! LOL

The Easton EC90 ones are superb but not cheap. They don’t get cold either so great in the winter months. Beware of fake ones from overseas though.

I am using a Garmin Forerunner 235. Gets your pulse from your wrist. Have been using this 5 times a week for the last year. Not cheap but works superbly. Use it for both running and cycling.

Its a 50/50 split between roads and grassy hard pack byways. Nothing extreme at all.

Have always used 2.1 on the front and back. What differences should I expect going to say 2.35?

Season 2 was certainly better than season 1 and will probably get better still over time.
Bob Odenkirk has come a long way since his time on The Ben Stiller Show all those years ago (show was axed after only one season)

I just scrunch up some newspaper and stuff inside after each ride. Next morning remove newspaper which soaks up sweat/water.

I will recommend the Moon Shield as well. Very bright and easy to swap between bikes. Charges up quickly. Been using mine a great deal for over 2 years now in all weathers.
