I'm really not a fan – think they look scruffy and uncomfortable (but that is probably the cheap knockoffs….)

I've got some North Face ones like those Merrell ones – gore-tex and thinsulate lined, grippy sole. Really warm and cosy. Was very impressed how well they coped with an unplanned winter walk round Rivington at Christmas – couldn't have done that in Ugg boots!

I'm a girl so I'm allowed to name my bikes…. FS is Black Beauty (and is black), HT is Piglet (steel aka pig iron, and with pink bits), Roadie is Flicka (as in the horse not the photo hosting website).

The OH has Stumpy (cause it is) and "The Beast" (old heavy HT).

Used to be run by the North Wales Mountain Biking Association but I don't think they're particularly active at the moment…. OPA/Llandegla staff might know more, or catshoe on here used to be/is a member of NWMBA.

I went to Port El Kantaoui last year on a cheapo last minute half board week with the OH. Hotel was fine, food OK not amazing. The Port is very touristy. I don't know what it'd be like if you're taking the kids, guess it depends on the facilities at the hotel.

Was supposed to be a chill out holiday but I'm not very good at those so we ended up seeing a number of the Roman ruins…. El Djem is cool, Carthage not much to see, but if you can make it out that way try and get to Thuburbo Majus and Dougga – way less sanitised than the more popular sites.

You do get hassled to buy stuff, but I've been to Egypt and I don't think it's as bad as there!

Umm…. It's a WSD and either a 49cm or 50cm can't remember which. I'm just over 5'5''.

Standover and position of saddle vs cranks etc. feels OK, but when I'm on the drops it feels a bit cramped on the top tube length so I might try a slightly longer stem (or I should have got the next size up). I've already played with the saddle position.

But, of course you're going to get her to try for size before you buy aren't you?!?

I've got a Trek 1.5…. seems OK to me but I've never had anything else to compare it to 🙄

I get frustrated about the blokes v. girls range…. Lots of cool outdoorsy ruggedy stuff for the guys and flowery skirts for the girls. I want outdoorsy ruggedy stuff too 🙁
