Can anyone help me with locating a link from earlier in the thread. I bookmarked it but then I’ve wiped it.

I’m pretty sure it was Tired originally – the link was to the antiviral trials with a possibility for sign up for anyone previously considered critically extremely vulnerable.

I’m struggling to find it, guess it was about the weeks back round Christmas ish, but having no luck with the search yet.

20m³ is 3 wagons of concrete

20³ m³ is about 1200 wagons of concrete, or 100 wagons on turnaround for a double shift.

Have done postal PCR s like that.
There’s an email code you will have had through.
It’s not tagged to a person until you link the code ( person specific) to the test serial number.
So use either, but link it as you set it up.

    Kryton,
Get hold of some ffp3 masks for your wife. There will be times when you can’t avoid being part of a family.
They’re designed to protect the wearer, not just reduce transmission from the infected.
They work. Nothings guaranteed to sorry her getting it, but the reduce that chance.
    Available from Screwfix style shops

Appears to me like a brilliant bit of marketing. Very clever.
The huge discount got people very interested, who might not have known they wanted these watches.
For the cost of a few discounted units, they’ve got a lot of people discussing their products online.
I’ve looked up reviews for these watches. Been impressed, decided that they’re worth that price, and would have bought one if quick enough.
As a seller, to have people in that position is a massive step towards them buying their next GPS watch from you.
Hukd and other sites have basically done their advertising for them.
    The promotion worked.

Anyone else have problems from their jab?
Could probably do 6 – 10 each time I tried around about a year ago.
After being triple jabbed this year, it’s a struggle to do 1, with any attempt at pull-ups or press ups producing pain on left shoulder muscle.

Thanks nickc and bails, that sounds good.
I’ve got an older suunto Spartan that does the sports side of things nicely but isn’t holding charge like it used to do so might need replacing/upgrading soon.
Have never really liked carrying the phone running, and the newer Garmin’s ability to do audio looks tempting for long slow run training.

Would you not have your phone with you? So could you listen from that rather than the watch?

I guess I’m asking about the times that I wouldn’t be carrying a phone.
They do advertise it’s onboard music storage fairly strongly, so hopefully it’s worth using.
Thinking about it, probably more likely to be running than hiking (very rarely hike without, very rarely run with a phone) but that could still be a good 2-3 hours so would be useful if I knew I could take podcasts etc.

Could I ask about fenix (or other music smart watch) experiences?

Is it usable for “other” non musical audio too?
Would it be easy to listen to podcasts, audio books or other audio, on day something like a longish hike?

I’m not really up to date with things like Spotify or Amazon music yet so not sure how easy putting this sort of stuff on it would be. Would it involve cables, or Bluetooth/wireless transfer from phone?

Have a morning at source BMX down in Hastings. Big indoor skate park (with massive BMX bike shop) and they do kids sessions then, pretty sure they’ll hire one for you too.
Then you’ll get a good idea and be able to buy the right one.

    Mg,
Recovery time can be slow to adapt when starting out running , or coming back after a while.
There’s absolutely no probs with giving your body time to recover before your next run.
Do 5k , and have a couple of days off then do another. And keep going. Just give it some consistency for a few months and don’t go doubling the distance before your body’s really ready.

The whole “choice” thing WRT schools is an abomination of the highest order. Kids should go to their local school. End of.

    Yeah great.
Kids education opportunities should be determined by their postcode.
All determined by the mortgage available.
Sounds like an estate agents wet dream.

I can only think of two exceptions….. two things that weren’t completely arsed-up:
    The furlough scheme
    The vaccine roll-out

    I’d question the vaccine rollout.
We made a good start and then failed to keep up with our neighbours.

We put ourselves in a good position to be the first to vaccinate teens, and could and should have succeeded before schools went back.

Dithering, fear of making a decision, and populism meant we lost more lives.

Also need to find out what the Flu vaccine advice is… I think that’s a month after Covid19, not sure.

At my vaccination ( covid booster) a couple of weeks ago they said there’s no reason they can’t be same day, and said some clinics are doing that – one in each arm. Wasn’t offered at the time where I was, but need to get my flu done soon so will check again when they do that and report back.

The only head injuries my two have had happened when they were wearing normal helmets, and full faces would have prevented them.
Son was pootling along and experimented with twittering the bars, went over, and landed on face. Suspected broken jaw (turned out ok at walk in) and killed the nerve in a tooth. About 3 or 4.
Daughter went otb at the pump track and landed on her nose. Was 5 or 6. Both blood everywhere.

IMO , they don’t have the same reflex s to protect their face that you develop a bit older. So if their necks strong enough, full face is a good idea.

Both now have one and always choose to use it at pump tracks, BMX, or mountain biking. They love them, don’t seem bothered by the heat ( but you can see the sweat), and have started racing bmx, 7 & 8. One is a 661 reset, the other a Lazer phoenix plus. Both adult Xs in sales.
They use the other helmets riding to school, they can hear better and that’s more important then.
The other priority would be small gloves. Long sleeves and legs seem ok so far for the limbs.

There’s an increasingly small number of unvaccinated vulnerable people.

Seeing as most vulnerable people that could have the vaccine would have been jabbed last winter, then that number should really should be a stable constant.
    “Increasingly small” is worrying.

    Staff testing is now voluntary.

But for kids, the changes to the isolation rules actually discourage continuing testing.
If little Johnny is asymptomatic, and there’s no close contact isolation, then him getting a positive lateral flow really means asking for time off work to look after him. It’s going to be easier for most parents to not test routinely.
    Should keep case numbers down.

I guess the thinking is most kids don’t get severe symptoms.
And most staff should be double jabbed so shouldn’t get severe symptoms.
And there’s some space in the hospital at the moment for the rest.

    loum

The other thing is no requirement for testing.

Asymptomatic infection won’t be picked up.

It’s as if they’re trying to avoid finding any cases.

    Until it hits anyone vulnerable.

Starmer’s lost the next election for Labour already.
Anyone decent is better off avoiding that mess and starting afresh later.

Even Sam Allardyce would give it a swerve.
