24″ wheels is known as a cruiser, dad size, and is what you be looking for for you a bit later.
All the rest are 20″, except some of the smallest micros which can use 18″ wheels.

My two, eight and nine, go everywhere including school everyday, on racing BMX s. It’s worked out really well, they absolutely love them and the lightness makes most things possible.
Not great in slop as the thinner tyres don’t have deep grip, but they fly every where else.
Got the first one two years ago this month for my younger boys sixth birthday. He (and she) loved it, and the daughter wanted one for her eighth birthday the following Jan. Haven’t looked back.
Sizes are called micro, mini, junior, expert, expert XL, pro in ascending order. The top tubes get longer, handlebars higher, and wheels thicker, but stsndover stays low. You can get longer seatposts for off the track.
Mini was about right for the lad at 6, daughter started on a junior at eight and has just moved up to expert after growth spurt, the junior is now about right for the lad but he loves his bike so much he’s stayed on it. Haro and gt are good makes. They now race and spend most rides shouting “squish – pop!” At me trying to teach me to jump.

Wetsuit works well for kids in the sea. Adds some floatiness, gives sun protection, keeps their core warm cos they shiver a lot quicker than adults even in warm water, and in cairns- would be good stinger protection.

Just getting back to the actual op, if you and your daughter are interested then the UCI BMX world champs are on at the moment over in Nantes, France. I’d say let’s watch this.
It’s live stream on YouTube at the moment, age group racing boys and girls during the week with the big elite finals at the weekend.
Daughter and son both race and it’s a really inclusive sport with some real inspirational athletes for them to look up to, from clubmates they train with and coached by all the way up to Olympic champions.

Looked into this recently and, for me, the tld stage looked the best option (it has BMX certification over the other two) with the pro frame and the ixs trigger as other considerations.
Then the ixs ( MIPS version) got massively discounted on CRC so took a chance and it’s turned out great. As above, really airy and takes sunglasses well. There feels like slots through the padding at the side where the Sunnies go from temple to ear that just fit right. Very nicely designed.
The tld has similar, I believe – not actually seen, but the cost/value meant the trigger jumped to first choice and turned out to be a keeper.
And the s/m is actually big

    Get him a BMX
Get yourself a 24 inch BMX cruiser
    Enjoy the pump track together

Answer is always n+1 , but in this case it actually works brilliant.

Got both my two BMX s for riding to school (and racing) and it’s been awesome for their skills. Don’t think my daughter’s sat down on the saddle in about six months and she rides a dozen times a week. absolutely fly’s round the pump track past me and great times together

Ours went from 14 to 20 inch.
Halfords Carrera, had a low standover height for the size so was ideal.

I’d like to join too, if that’s ok.
Weight has been creeping up, and fitness down, since a bout of COVID earlier this year.
Had a bit of time off the bike and no running, but back to cycle commuting daily and running again so no more excuses really.
180 lbs, 12 stone 12, 81.6 kg so it’s time to do something.
Can I add myself to the bottom of that spreadsheet please coconut?

Edit. Target would be 11 stone 11, 75kg, 165 lbs

It’s the month leading up to his 21st –
Can’t see the extreme measures being successful, I’d be looking at rearranging the jump now while that’s maybe still possible.

There’s definitely probs with their algorithms for some people.

Went from “maintaining with anaerobic shortage” to “unproductive” today, after doing a session of hill sprints this morning as part of their training plan, and at the same time being bang in the middle of “optimal” exercise load.

    It’s not always right.

If lunch is “getting out of hand” when fasting , then makes it earlier.

Make yourself a lunch with loads of veg and some protein at breakfast time before the “cravings” get control.
Don’t eat it straight away, eat it later when you’re hungry instead of cake.

Lazer phoenix + is a nice helmet that’s good value. Kids have a couple and a Reset for BMX and it’s similar standard, maybe even a little nicer made.
Available in Halfords so very try-onnable. Good quality and value

Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a double timeline using flashbacks like in Bobble Feet.
That would work well for having HC and a helmeted DV.

However given it has no committee, no rules, no processes and an absent owner with members and non members just organising rides themselves and possibly juniors joining (no idea how young people are they all look young to me), it’s a more subtle scenario than “Does the club allow juniors to ride in the fast group?”. The ‘club’ doesn’t even know what groups exist, where they’re going and who is in them and neither do some of the people on the rides.

That sounds very much like the rides organised and led by Footflaps Fast Ride Group (c) have nothing to do with club commercial, and just happen to visit the same cafe by coincidence.
Cafe owner could easily deny all knowledge and point out that you’re rides are nothing to do with him.

All of the above and one other thing.
Make sure that you/she follow up the “chat” and refusal to do a risk assessment with an email expressing your concerns, confirming the conversation, and requesting who else they suggest could carry out the required risk assessment professionally?

It’s amazing how much more seriously risk assessments are taken once there’s responsibility confirmed in writing.

Don’t know about the legalities of this situation, but all clubs my kids ride with now have “safeguarding leads”. Other sports too.
That would be my first port of call for any enquiries about youngsters riding in mixed age groups.

How that works going forward, if people are getting reinfected within a few months, I don’t know.

Our school has already had reinfections of people that were infected late last year. Symptomatic and backed up by PCR.

Then there’s also the requirement to do seven days of lateral flows to avoid isolation as a vaccinated close contact. Like in a classroom.
It doesn’t seem to have an “exemption clause” for previously infected.

It’s getting a bit Matt Lucas again.
But with Boris just shouting Jimmy Saville in between the waffle.

Coros is another, slightly newer, option. Good reviews on DCR.

But must admit, I like the sound of the new solar instinct 2. The rumours are that the solar charging and kids battery drain as up to “infinite” battery life. No charging.

Plenty of youngsters in the first team today too, should be good experience for them.

Just had to escort a client home and had to have him sat in the back, both of us with masks on in the car and me with a face shield too. So you think glasses steam up with just a mask?

Best masks I’ve used for avoiding steamed glasses are the ffp3 ones.
Sealed around the nose so your breath doesn’t affect your glasses.
    Better protection too.
Would always go for that option in that situation.

What’s the likelihood of an asymptomatic or really mild infection not showing up on a lateral flow

I reckon that’s definitely possible. There’s a window of a few days where they detect, and outside of that it becomes less likely.
    Also,
Have another look at the lateral flow a lot later.

We were on daily lateral flows as close contacts.
Had negatives so my boy went to school.
Left the test strips on the side, and at the end of the day there was a very faint line where there had been nothing at all before school. The next morning’s test was a proper bright red positive, closely followed by a vomit.

Not an expert, but my assumption now is that he was already very mildly infected at the time of that negative and that half hour doesn’t show it. But the length of a day -or overnight – has a bit more chance of showing up that asymptomatic/very start of infection as a very faint line.

My totally unprofessional coaching advice would be plenty of speed work sessions so that you run “lightly”, mixed with some tough double run days so you’re used to pushing through on tired legs.

    I am not a coach.

Lots of strong rumours of a new fenix 7 next week and instinct 2.
Even if they’re not of interest, the new release should force prices down on previous models.

    My take on it is

Isolating due to asymptomatic test – fit for work ( from home)
Isolating with symptoms ( PCR) – feet up
    Prioritises the economy
