sounds like oil would be best as ,from what i read in the above manual, it seems there are foam rings in the air spring which would absorb the oil helping lubrication .

    grease for the air spring.
get some from tf tuned or mojo

when you properly degrease your chain and see the amount of grit that comes out of it ,imo, you realise that it is worth doing.once clean i then submerse it in oil in a small container ie.washed out chinese takeaway container. once it has been submersed for a few hours i then dry it off with rag as much as possible so its not too wet when it goes back on the bike. this should replace some of the oil back into the rollers.
you can also keep the oil in the container and reuse it next time.

had them a month, used them for riding in Brecon beacons,Black mountains and Chiltern hills so far and think they’re really good.
however the slightly cheaper xt ones are available now.

whilst it is expensive, it doesn’t yellow over time,it’s easier to apply than any other type i’ve tried and is thick enough to provide good lasting protection.

agree that the biketart stuff is too thin. if you get any air bubbles while applying it and try and peel the tape back to remove it the tape stretches and goes all out of shape which ends in disaster.
the best stuff i’ve found so far is unfortunately the most expensive which is the ‘bikeshield’ stuff sold by evans etc. its nice and thick, the easiest to apply and doesn’t yellow over time. shame it costs so much.

i had exactly the same after buying second hand frame off ebay. went through what you are going through thinking frame crack / bottom bracket / bushes etc. after a few weeks of worrying i stripped the saddle off the bike cleaned the rails, clamp and threads thoroughly, re-eassembled and it cured it.

2008 meta 5.5. just refreshed the suspension with tf tuned revs and rp2 rear . went for the 20mm bolt thru up front. xt drivetrain and brakes. still putting it all together so first ride will be at the weekend.
would like to upgrade to 12mm axle at the back but does anyone know where to get the dropouts ??

i did it on rocket rons last year without any punctures so would think you shouldn’t have to many problems with the ralphs.
as far as the hills go, there’s a bit of everything , short and steep and long and steep. great fun though.

coolant tempsensor could cause overfuelling preventing it from starting.
mass air flow may cause some misfiring/lack of power but with both of these i would have thought you would hear the engine at least trying to start.
maybe go back to basics with compression check – it wont cost you to check it

lots and lots of climbing, some good fun descents and good sense of achievement when you finish.
i did it when the sun was shining and loved it. may be less appealing in grim weather.

when it was misfiring was it missing on a particular cylinder(s) or was the misfiring spread across all four cylinders?
oher suggestions to add to the ones above could be engine coolant temp sensor or mass air flow either could be upsetting the mixture ???
    Good luck

hmmm, ive dwelled on this since having the bike but am of the thinking that carbon should be able to handle it within reason. a lot of trail bikes are being made from carbon these days
