It is terribly sad that we live in a country that personal and property security has to be at the forefront of your thoughts now. You wonder if the government has to share blame with individuals taking inadequate protection measures. Lack of policing making it easy for criminals to operate or simply the deterrent of punishment is inadequate. I’ve watched videos where in the Middle Eastern countries they leave unattended an expensive item, Rolex etc and see what happens. Yet to see one touched. Better class of people with higher moral values or scared of the possible consequences?

If it is a concern simply pop it off the front chain ring? If you are riding regular then the rear mech will generally wear out/become damaged before your concerns become apparent.

I’ve been at least 6 times in the last 2 months. In summary, it is fantastic at the moment due to how quiet it is, only if you know the area. If you turn up for the first time or only vaguely aware of the set up I think you will leave disheartened. I’m going as much as I can at the moment. Weather fantastic and when it opens after UCI events I’ll leave it for a while as I expect it to be very busy.

If you feel the need to wear one, wear it. Don’t worry about reviews. If you try it and don’t like it, what have you lost?

They are two independent units if my understanding of your question is correct. It would be nice if two Garmin devices communicated, but alas they don’t. Therefore training data on two separate Garmin devices can’t be amalgamated. At least to my knowledge.

Not to sleep in a lay-by, before anyone shouts at me.

Sleeping in a lay-by, fine. It is the twunts that park in the passing places on single-track roads that are a bother.

For me the only issue with all this stuff is the borderline naughtiness (or how is looks to others) in an area with a ban on open fires.

The hobo attachment would blow their minds. 😂 one of the best £10’s I’ve spent. Keeps the kids entertained for ages gathering fuel and keeping it going.

For fuel I have trees in my street that produce acorns, every year when they fall off I sweep them all up into a large gorilla bucket from Screwfix. Put them in the hut, when going away just grab a few big handfuls and I find they are great fuel.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer please? Or is not that simple.

My understanding is that the quicker someone’s immune system defeats the virus the less likely it is to mutate. The longer someone is ill with the virus the more opportunities it has to mutate.

I believe that multiple mutations such as occurred with omicron are likely to have occurred in one person who was ill with the virus for a very long time infection mutate beyond recognition from the original.

There is a very comprehensive study going on just now led by a team of British scientists about the phenomena of the mutation of viruses hosted within bodies with AIDS and other immune suppressed illnesses. Two such people in the UK have been identified as host to these mutations and have agreed to be case studies. A female had a covid virus and over an 8 month period of constant infection mutated beyond recognition from the original. Interesting stuff. I’ll try and locate the paper I am referring to. The thought process is this is the possible origin of mutated viruses.

I am tripled jabbed and I now consider vaccination to be a waste of time.

I had covid over Christmas and my symptoms were so mild that had I known before I was jabbed that the symptoms would be that mild I wouldn’t have bothered with vaccination.

I feel I was taken for an idiot.

If you are not on the wind up, I can partially understand your viewpoint. If you have been triple vaccinated in the space of nine months against a virus (insert virus here, for  this example chicken pox) and on month 11 you are infected with chicken pox, you should be validated to ask questions about vaccine breakthrough protection.

Asking questions should be a positive tool that answers will hopefully lead to refinement and improvements in the vaccines.

Local club do a duathlon twice a year. I enjoy entering. I find it very challenging considering I do both hobbies individually throughout the year. Going from there bike to a run is very strange for your legs.

Get a bike that fits properly. Life is too short to mess around trying to fix stuff that shouldn’t be an issue on a ride.  If you’ve had a bike previously that didn’t have this issue, what has changed with this one? Look for a bike with similar dimensions to the one you had no issues with.

Yeah I’d agree with your observations and I’ve considered all the variations myself. My dog runs are on three routes. So easy for me to consider variables and analyse accordingly due to the variations. The weather as you observe in Britain is variable, this I cannot control and accept as life. Diet, caffeine etc considerations I have effectively eliminated with running at the same time and on a controlled diet. I feel MAF can be achieved by mortals outside of laboratory conditions in Florida, plenty of testaments to back this up too. If you can make a bastardised MAF program successful for you, does it really matter to the recreational runner that you are not 100% compliant with strict protocol.  If it makes you get out and run, winner winner chicken dinner.

I’ve been using MAF for around 7 weeks now. I asked here  and his website is very useful. No need for the book I feel.  I started it due to lack of running events and by default my miles were dropping off. Now I MAF run every day with a dog just so I  can cover more distance in a day than by walking. Last night I did 11 miles . I like it because it never really beats me up, the run is just a lot slower.  Yes it feels weird at first, especially almost walking the uphills. I’d say I’m getting used to it now. My plan is to continue with it until Park Run begins again and really open the legs there as a test to see if MAF has added anything. By chance my last few Park Runs this time last year I was recovering from injury so I’m hoping to better those times. Not very scientific I know, but I’m only a recreational runner.  I established my max HR using the protocol from a link on here to the British Cycling website on a borrowed friends indoor training bike and HRM. I think it feels accurate for me.

While it’s pretty tame stuff as sob stories go

I get where you are coming from. When I feel like this I just think what it must have been like during the World Wars and what those people lived through helps get me some perspective back.  Imagine if rationing had to have happened during Covid. I’m not even sure society nowadays would cope without a mutiny/civil disturbance.

Rubbish that you pay a premium for these products yet common consensus is that they are infact useless at the functions they were purchased for. The GPS has been off a few times for Garmin lately too. Definitely room for a rival I feel that can offer more reliable metrics. Perhaps Google will come in and shake a few trees.

I’d describe it as shameful as that is what I’d feel if I was the person charged with its destruction. Knowing that if logistics had been better then all the vaccines should be used. This early on when supply can’t keep up with demand then this situation should not be allowed to occur. Teething problems is another term for poor planning and execution with a failure to provide a back up plan to cover the eventuallaties of over provision at the delivery stations. Not sure how it is a silly comment. Maybe not a term you agree with, but I see the situation as unacceptable this early on in the rollout.

Unsure what wastage other countries are reporting, but wastage is shameful this early on. Granted extremes of weather will present problems, not insurmountable ones under current drive and focus of a rollout program. Every dose of vaccine destroyed could prevent a needless death.

Disappointing to hear the Scottish Government are destroying vaccine when there remains such a vast swathe of the population to be inoculated. Their take on it is that the 2% they are destroying is better than the projected 5%. Near the end of the rollout perhaps understandable, this early on demonstrates weak logistics planning.

If bikes can be classed as vehicles in this discussion, then Cotic BFe MK1. Teeth chatteringly rigid and dead as a door knocker. Less than a dozen rides and it quite simply had to be sold.
