I can highly recommend the senner music pro ones off Amazon…

Having stood too close to too many speakers in the past it was taking days for my ears to stop ringing after gigs. These have solved that and I have found them to be good at blocking out background noise in the crowd too.

Be a good idea to leave the sold ads up until the buyer receives the item, after that I agree it’s pointless to leave it and very easy to delete from the manage my ads drop-down.

We got caught by this on the other side of the bridge coming down from elslack. As you stand at the gate to the estate just off the bridge, there is no hint of a possible route through there, and quite an obvious sign saying this is private property. I guess if you know, it’s an obvious short cut, but if you are not familiar with the lie of the land then it’s not very inviting.
We went all round the diversion, but it was a quiet Saturday morning so not too horrible, but anything other than quiet time and I don’t think we’d have done it. Probably just gone back up the hill and down to Carleton. 35 weeks is a long time for repairs too!

I emailed Bradford Council to find out if he was genuine and they have confirmed he was nothing to do with them. So jumped up Countryside Unofficial Numpty Trailwarden fits the bill perfectly…

    I know it’s a path. 🤪
And yes it’s the techy footpath with the new gate at the end (that’s the wrong way round to stop anything).
I have been riding up there for years, this is the first interaction. It’s normally deserted. It’s also the way we’ve been told to go to avoid the shooters down the bottom during their season. I find the direction of preference very much depends on the wind direction… 😉
It didn’t ruin my day, in fact we turned round and headed down the singletrack off the moor, then down the link route to the road, which was all a blast cause it’s dry (as dry as it ever gets) then raced up the steep road hill to see if we could meet him at the other end of his path. But we didn’t, so we then rode the footpath across to limers gate. 😱🤫
I was more interested to know if he was official and whether I should mention it to someone at the council about the aggression. It’s also quite an appealing volunteer role if it exists, so was surprised when there’s no mention on the council website.

It goes across the moor from Thornton Moor reservoir towards Warley Moor reservoir. Skirts round the bottom end of the the area where the massive windmills are.

Well that’s the thing, he shouted his name at me right at the start. I just didn’t catch it. He was also covered in rambler’s association pin badges… There are a lot of things I would have done differently, but I was just out for some enjoyment not a blood boiling interaction with the self entitled.
It was on open access land owned/maintained by Bradford Council and Natural England. I always thought it was Yorkshire Water land, but hey ho.
I do wonder if I had left the path to ride off piste whether footpath ranger would then be stuck on his little path…
Ironically the path has been trashed by motor bikes in the last few years and is also a local dumping ground for all sorts of rubbish/tyres/turkey carcasses.

Hello, we fixed this at work last year.

    It turned out like this…

We are based in Leeds but have dealt with postage repairs occasionally if it’s all sorted by the customer.

Rescuemycar.com have been good for us, the few times we’ve needed them. Deals with local garages to where you are broken down but has all the options for different levels of recovery. Google reviews suggest a more negative story recently though…

Blueflow wheels are brilliant. Hope hubs and under 1600g for the pair. Hand made too.
    Bit over the £500 though.

Lenovo have some (possibly) good discounts on their website. I haven’t been studying their prices for 6 months so don’t actually know if the discounts are genuine though.

I bought a Ripley frame over the summer and have been having this same thought. I couldn’t get the saddle back to match my previous bikes. I couldn’t get the saddle height right either, for whatever reason it was always too high or too low.
After a two month wait I got a 9point8 layback dropper and a 35mm stem (from 50mm). I tried this combo with the saddle as far back as possible, still not as far as previously.
It felt awful, and I was contemplating selling the frame. But I did some digging on the interweb and found two articles that set me on a new path…
    https://www.mtbiking.com.au/how-to/bike-tech/cockpit-setup
    And
    https://m.pinkbike.com/news/lee-mccormacks-guide-to-perfect-bike-set-up.html
I think the rad thing has been mentioned before on singletrack.
So I forgot about saddle position in relation to BB, and went for a bar to saddle distance instead. Kept the 35mm stem and brought the saddle forward, but also dropped the height. Finally I pulled my cleats back from ball of foot over axle by about 15mm.
Having tried it a couple of times the difference is amazing. I can understand the way the geometry has been designed and love riding the bike. I have done a 4 hour ride like this and not noticed any drop in leg output or new discomforts. In fact shoulders and neck have felt less fatigued.
My advice is don’t be obsessed with keeping the same old position, the new way could be better for you. It’s an expensive experiment though, I’ll give you that.

Been very happy with this beast since building it up a couple of weeks ago. Rear tyre clearance is the only issue I have had. 28mm schwalbe on a hope 25 rim measured 30mm which left about 1mm clearance… So I have the shame of a 28 front tyre and 25 rear. It’s about 9kg with GRX double groupset.

Any player holding his shin appealing to the referee should be forced to referee a game in the lowest division of the Bradford district Sunday league having sat through 10 weeks of course to become ‘qualified’ for the privilege… 😆

I have to admit to inadvertently getting my son into supporting Sheffield Wednesday. I have told him many times they are not a good team to choose to support, but because that’s who I support he’s determined to stick by me. The art of football is a wonderful thing. Just as any team sport has tactics and strategies and players have individual skills to both add to and hinder a team being successful.
I have played, coached, refereed and supported football all my life, but I can manage to avoid conversation about it all the time. That’s a conversation thing not a football thing. There’s a lot of other things in the world to talk about.
From experience 90% of football talk is absolute bollocks and you are better off out of it.
I still love taking my son to a nil nil draw though, because it’s just quality time together.

The moors above pecket well are running dry ish at the moment, well worth the effort to get up there before coming back down to hardcastle crags if you like a bit of moorland singletrack.

Hello Neil, are the new linkage plates being sent out to everyone or do I have to put my name down for them? I have play in the little cast aluminium inserts that join the shock to the top of the plates. They were anodised black.

If you Google for it you can normally find a 14% discount code for parcelforce, it’s usually a month code with a couple of digits found on their website. It’s only a discount on postage cost not insurance and before Vat so only makes a small difference.
It seems this month’s is JL20

Randomly I have a red 32t never used, fitted once, superstar hope direct mount ring you can have for the price of postage. It’s standard chainline and I needed boost chainline. It’s kind of explained on their website about the offsets, I was just too keen to order and it scratches my chainstay ever so slightly.

We had one built in Milton Keynes in 2016, bottom half brick wall, Anglian windows, done by builders and then fitters, it cost £17k with brown on the outside, white inside… We didn’t haggle, we just wanted it doing so we could sell 6 months later. It was a good addition to the floor space downstairs in that particular house.
We got new sliding patio style doors included in that. It was 3m X 3m.

It is bridleway according to the os map. Yes it’s the bit left at the caravan park small gate that goes down to the other bigger gate.
Saw someone go down it the other day with a child sitting on one of them seats over the top tube…

If you are in or around Leeds or can drive to drop off and pick up then try carbonwasp.com for simple carbon repair if you aren’t bothered about a respray/cover up… Normally a week turn around depending on complexity.
(Disclaimer, I work there. Never had any complaints.)

Another vote for Merlin, stock status seems to be accurate and usually ship within hours of order. Plus loyalty points and discounts.

Well after 13 days of silence I got an email from wiggle saying I should take it to a local bike shop to be repaired… 🤣
I will never buy a bike from them again.

Did you find a bike to buy in the end?

I have just got a new substance crs-1 which I think is the carbon frame version of what you are looking at in single ring guise. Been out on it a couple of times and loving it. The spec is good for the money and it’s persuaded me to try commuting on it over the summer at least.
Unfortunately I had issues with the bike being unrideable when it was delivered. Although the box wasn’t damaged, the rear mech and hanger had been bent inward so the gears we’re all over the place and unusable. Also, the rear brake had very little hydraulic fluid left in it as the bleed port cover had been left loose. I fixed the issues myself by bleeding the brake and buying new rear mech and hanger, but beware wiggle have no way of contacting them apart from email which is 4 to 6 days response time! And all I have been told so far is that the workshop will look at the photos I sent and get back to me. It’s basically a black hole providing no help whatsoever… Just incase that would affect your decision. Of course I could have been very unlucky and all that.

Physio fixed me too, between a proper bike fit and his pressing on exactly the right point in my neck I have been migraine free for 2.5 years. He only did the pressing the once but cured it straight away. It was a great day after suffering for about 5 years.
All started with a 6 hour non stop drive in what must have been a very poor posture.

At Christmas I got a Sage Bambino Plus and a delonghi KG79 burr grinder for £260 total (John Lewis and Amazon). Can’t fault either and makes a great espresso. Have tinkered with the milk frother on it which also satisfies my needs when a milky drink is required.

Done it a few times since moving up these parts three years ago. It’s a good loop if you turn left at the top, then left again opposite the reservoir going down the hill. The back lanes from there to Sowerby are always quiet and tail wind, plus another climb up through Mill Bank. You can then zigzag down the hill to luddenden foot and a quick blast back to mythomroyd or head up Danny Lane to the tops and along to wainstalls…

I bought some of them SID RL 120mm forks from wiggle too. After 5 miles they had 40mm travel and wouldn’t return to fully extended no matter what pressure they had in them. I sent them back, and now wiggle have returned them to their supplier for inspection… Which is all taking ages.

Not really what I am asking, I am fully aware we grow veg in the UK, just wondered on the difference between the environmental impact of home grown chicken compared to the veg supplied by most supermarkets over the winter months that seems to be grown in either Africa or that big greenhouse in Spain. I too have been conscious of where my food comes from over the last 2 years or so, and trying to get an idea of what is actually good for the environment and what isn’t…

Like a vegetable curry, but interested to know if it’s better for the world if I have British chicken or veggies grown in Morocco (or Spain) as the main ingredient?

Saw the loic crash in qualifying too, he did about 3 somersaults down the track with bike very close behind, on the corner going into the motorway. The sound of him crashing and then the silence after was immense. His bike looked smashed but he just got back on and finished the run. He didn’t even flinch. Full respect to him.

I do wonder what it is that’s so precious up there when there’s a big quarry next door that will no doubt sooner or later be a housing estate or chicken factory, and the MX riders on a fairly regular basis doing what they do around the place. Good to know the council aren’t really bothered, thanks for the info.

Never seen an Akrigg film crew up there though.
