I’m just embarrassed people I presume I have something in common with (i.e. mountain biking) waste their time watching soap operas.

hey a tram only crashes into coronation street every so often…

first time i’ve watched corrie since i left home (mum is an avid fan, so it was on while i did my homework)

Czech Republic is currently broadcasting in DVB-T and DAB and also DAB+

Finland started broadcasting in DAB in 1997, but there was no take up, so they discontinued broadcast in 2005.

Canada started DAB broadcasts in 1999, and again due to low take up DAB is currently being shut down.

Oz only started broadcasts last year in DAB+

The Netherlands has postponed plans to continue rolling out DAB, and will instead evaluate newer technologies. The new technologies which will be assessed include the new version of DAB DRM+ and DVB-H, and are more efficient than the current version of DAB, so it is likely that The Netherlands will end up using an upgraded version of DAB based on the AAC+ codec.

So if you were nokia (the worlds largest phone manufacturer) – would you bother developing a DAB reciever to fit your phone, when your home market doesnt broadcast in that format? when you sell worldwide, and only 30 countries currently have a Digital broadcast.. and then there are 3 different formats.
and in the amount of things vying for space in a mobile handset – is there really space to fit the DAB module when it measures 30x38x2.5mm (made by Samsung Electro-Mechanics)

coupled with the fact of how power hungry a DAB reciever is – your battery life of the phone would be dire.

There was a comparison a wind up DAB/FM reciever that was on the market – one minutes winding would give 10hrs of FM listening, but just half and hour DAB listening

HTC once made one phone – the Lobster, which was only available on Virgin Mobile, but that has been discontinued for 3 or 4 years.

Face it – DAB is a dead format. and is very power hungry.

Anne Frank is a great book and changed my life, but more for 11/12 years.

I dunno, i’m ‘enjoying’ reading it now, at aged 30. very moving, but equally i felt i needed to read it.

Loving Lewis’ radio broadcasts – I’ve got no grip

    My f-duct isn’t working… F-duct is working fine Lewis…

you could see the lack of grip on the first lap from alonso’s onboard behind lewis. Lewis just couldnt get the drive out the corners, it was sliding everywhere.

    LibDem turncoats/rats

this is the bit i dont get, in the history of the Libs… they have worked with the conservatives on several occasions with the conservatives in the past, they survived because they had a pact with the tories in some constituencies not to stand against each other (such as bolton and huddersfield)

wereas they had a not very successful pact with Labour in ’77…

so to me they have been more closely aligned with the tories, than they ever had with labour.

    Doesn’t do copy’n’paste or Flash tho’…

would be a bit strange if those features had been disabled, since i have been able to copy and paste since my first min mob phone – 6 years ago. and my current Win Mob 6.5 supports flash in the browsers.

I felt he deserved the WC in 2008, as he’d won more races than Hamilton (under the current points system he would have, too) and Hamilton profited from another driver error, rather than winning purely on merit.

Hamilton finished 1st more races than massa in 2008.
It was down to a stewards descision that reversed the number of race wins.

As to the last race – Timo Glock was trying to do what Hamilton and Kimi had done in belgium, take a gamble on slicks in the wet. in Brazil it didnt pay off.

had 2008 been run with a driver on the steward panel (like 2010), Hamilton may well have kept his race win in Belgium, and thus would have had 102 points to Massa’s 95. He was found guilty of breaking a rule the FIA made AFTER the race.

As it was then, you couldnt gain an advantage from cutting a corner. Hamilton let Kimi past after the corner. therefore no advantage gained. a judgement was then given for the next race that you had to wait another corner till you tried to pass again.

keeping the standings as they are from 2008, but given 2010 points system. Hamilton would have had 243points, and Massa would have had 231, making Hamilton’s WC more assured (had he not passed Timo, he would still have been on 241pts, heck he could have crashed out and still won the championship!).

OK, maybe I am being unfair – but why would anyone who does not go off road properly want any offroader then if a Landy is the ‘best’ of them>?

because – other ‘offroaders’ are not for offroading – hence why they are called often ‘soft roaders’ they give the driver teh same tall driving position… and eerrr…

the defender was designed to go off road – to get a ewe in the back, tow heavy farm machinery, and have power take offs. the fact it has all the necessary to be road legal is a side issue.

tis said – you either get ‘it’ with the LR – or you dont.

personally i have only had a half day experience in one -half on road, half off… and loved it – its seems for the exact same reasons as you hate it.

But then the car i drive at the moment, i bought because it was the exact opposite of the car i sold to get it. I like back to basics motoring.

there is the general F1 feed for the race – you can always spot this, as it has the F1 logo in corner. when the BBC presenters are on screen – jake, DC and Eddie, or Martin’s grid walk – that comes from the BBC crew. that doesnt feature the F1 logo in the corner.

The F1 feed is the same whether it is being shown on the big screens at the circuit, on the Kagaroo TV, BBC, and all the other boardcasters.
As said tho – there was a hiccup in the transmission – when it came back on we initally just had the F1 feed, with no commentry – then Crofty and Ant could be heard, before returning to Legard and Brundle. But seems the BBC were having a fair bit of problems – as like i said i could hear some of the other BBC guys talking behind the main commentry – i’m sure i heard Ted saying who was on what tyres, i also heard Croft and ant talking too on the BBC1 feed – Brundle also stopped talking at one point and said he could hear another broadcast in his headphones.

It was David Croft and Antony Davidson (former Super Aguri driver) in the R5 Live team.

If you ever go to any GP, and hire a Kangaroo TV, they do the english commentry feed for them. They are at the circuit, just like the BBC1 commentry.

There was sound problems most of the way through the race – at the start i could hear Ted Kavitz listing who was on which tyres, while Legard was talking, i’m sure i heard croft and antony at one point under Legard and brundle, when ted came on to do a report he had an echo

Need to get out and do some more, havent over the summer.

    As for what are geocaches…

    heres one:

You had to find this one, which gave you the co-ords for the next.

as for whats in them. heres a typical example.

Which reminds me i REALLY need to move on the travelbug!

your tolerance to sitting in traffic must be greater than mine

from Rossendale – there really isnt much traffic – the M66 moves fairly quickly – average speed in the morning is 60-70mph most mornings – the problem normally starts on the M60
But ATM i’m commuting to Prescot (liverpool) from bacup – takes be around 1hr 10mins. missus is working in north stretford/Trafford area, takes 3/4hr to get to work.

The thing is we used to live in bury – used to take us longer to get out of Bury (living on the bolton side) and to the motorway, than it does to get from Bacup down to the same junction, simply because traffic is very bad in Bury – and LOTS of traffic lights.

The thing with SAABs handling has always been on the ‘understeer’ side. They do handle very well, espcially for a big car like the 9-5, its never going to be as nippy as a focus – but then it is longer, and weighs 400kg more.

But you can do a full geo set up on the suspension. as standard the suspension of the non aero models is softer, motorway cruiser style. But i do enjoy throwing mine around country lanes.

My recommendation would be any VAG Group car.

then i wouldnt trust your oppinion of saabs :p i couldnt think of anything worse than a VAG group car. 😆

    love my 9-5.

Ours suffered initally from poor maintainance by the previous owner – we had all the relaited oil sludge problems – blown turbo, and other odds and sods.

But we replaced the turbo ourselves – £350 for a pattern part new turbo. took me a few weekends to do, but that was more due to my lack of knowhow, and tools to get to do some of thing things i needed to do.

the only thing the 9-5 shares with Opel/VX is the epsilon floor pan… and even then that is modified (lengthened) to suit the 9-5 size.

The only thing we are suffering from ATM is the rubber pipes are perishing – something i would expect on any 9 year old car with 165k miles on it (we have put 70k miles on the car over the last 4years)

If your around Manchester then T K Autos is the best saab indy around, based north of manchester: if Trevor hasnt got it, then it aint on a saab.

ours is the 2.0 low pressure turbo, SE. manual. we are seeing an easy 450-500miles out of a 65litre fill up on the daily commute. have had nearly 650miles to a tank on a long run over through belgium, cruise control all the way.

if it remains the same. then you right click on one of the tool bars and select ‘customise’

within this window you can modify the right click menus, in the top left window pane. you just drag the copy and paste options out of their submenu into the main right click menu.

You’ll have to do it several times as there are several different menus.

then just click apply and ok. and you should be good to go.

MX5 you can pick up for £2000-3000 (best are the mk1 with the pop up lights) cheapest to run

the elise is a great car, can get an S1 with the K series for under your 10k.

But i would be looking at Caterhams if i had that money, with crossflows, vauxhall and the odd 1.6k being within your budget.

Some thing else i would consider would be TVRs – either an S series, Chimaera or Griffith.

Didn’t wanna bring car to pit lane, at the end of race sometimes many people there and didn’t want it to explode there…

AFFF does its job. But for best knock down then dry powder is the thing. AFFF works best after the use of dry powder, and a cooling agent, or to cover a fuel spill.

for road cars plumbed in remote trigger are not really appropriate

I dont think legal either, as i believe road going race cars have to put the pin back in when on the road,

if its a powder extinguisher (should have a Blue label if british made, tho if you got it from either lidl or Aldi then it wont have the UK colour coding)

Turn it upside down and listen for the fffffuuuuurrrumph1 noise as the power slides from one end to the other. They can become compacted and left for a while, and then when you come to use it the powder wont come out.

Dont rely on it to put much out, but it may give you a chance to get out. if you have an under bonnet fire, then dont open the bonnet all the way. stand in front of the car, and get someone else to pull the bonnet release, and immediatly spray the FE into the engine bay through the gap.

Oh and dont breath in the powder. its a VERY good laxative! dont ask how i know 😉
