depends on how you look at it G.

Yes, the title race was between only a couple of drivers – Kimi seemed to be a bit disinterested for most of the season (but the Spa race was a cracker – discounting the meddling after the race) but as always the battles mid pack for points, finishes and results can be just as interesting to me, as the title battle. (things like Sato, in the back marker Super Aguri get one on Alonso at Canada 07)

If you dont enjoy it, or dont get it – i dont think i can convince you otherwise.

equally – no body could convince me that Football is anything other than a bunch of jessies running around after a ball, and is utterly boreing to watch.

“When you get down to it a few races in theres a shrewd idea of the team and the driver who’ll win it, 80% of the participants have absolutely no chance,”

hmm in the last 2 years the title race has been very very close.

As it was with Alonso and schumacker.

lets face it – 2007 the title race was between Kimi, Alonso and Hamlton right up to the end of the season.

2008 – Hamilton and Massa right up to the last race, with Kubica in with a shot too, until BMW stopped developing the car about 3 or 4 races from the end.

Go watch a sportscar Club racing

    😀

if you’ve got digital… watch ITV 4 when the touring car rounds are on – the support races have some great racing – Ginetta G50s, Clio Cup, Porsche… very close racing, with evenly matched cars.

Also if you have MotorTV on your package – then Ma5da (MX5s) Ginetta G20, Formula Ford are all apsolutly brilliant to watch. Also Caterham – dunno if you have any TV slots, but they are brilliant to watch at a circuit

I remember last year, when the MX5 championship was at Oulton Park i was flagging at Avenue (just after the first turn at Old Hall) as the pack rounded OH off the start line the first 3 cars had been far too brave and all slid wide – a all just held the cars sideways till the got back to the track, still in the leading 3 positions, the next 15 mins of racing were apsolutly frantic.

But i have been loving F1 for the last few years, a big improvement in the racing from some of the recent times.

I remember seeing him in the first “proper” video with Warner and Company on what seemed like a holiday in the country, complete with goats and chickens trying to eat there breakfast! Can anyone remember what it was called and who else was in it? Had some really surreal music sections in it, plus a bizarre ford crossing scene?

That would be DIRT – an MBUK video, filmed by Pete “Mr. Crud” Tomkins around his home.

    the main protagonist being
    Jason
    Rob Warner
    Dave Hemming
    Scott Dommett

All drivers think that they have those things all the time, whatever they are doing. that’s part of the problem, people don’t admit/see that they are terrible drivers.

you think car drivers are bad… just try critising the way some bikers ride…. hohohohooooo boy!

people were really good when passing

I’d agree with that (from what i saw from a Marshal’s POV) as we were stationed at a point where the have-a-gos met the main track again on the last d/h before the climb to the finish.

there never seemed to be a problen of people merging there. and lots of good clear shouts of ‘on your left’ etc as everyone came down the singletrack towards us

I love the way everyone suggests you chill these ‘beers’ to the point where you can’t taste them …

sounds just like the marketing blurb for most UK tasteless lagers then 😆

    Fosters, Carlsberg, xXXx, stella etc.

chill em till you cant taste anything.

The Speed 12s sounded OK when they were new, but since they fabricated the blocks from old scaffolding poles and bits of B&Q plumbing they didn’t sound that way for very long.

    Erm… theres only 1 Speed 12 in existance…

in some ways its how you view these things.

hamilton passed Trulli while Trulli was off circuit.

afterwards – Trulli says hamilton slowed significantly… so he repassed him.
martin says look at the telemetry from hamiltons car, that hamilton didnt slow, and his lap time at that point was comparative to other lap times behind the safety car, and that he didnt slow.

now over the radio the team told hamilton to let trulli past… hamilton doesnt want to – but trulli comes past afterwards team says stay infront of trulli but too late.

now in the stewards meeting hamilton apparently says no instruction was given… initally a instruction was given, then a second instruction was given… then a 3rd instruction was given.
basically – 1st let him by, 2nd dont let him by, 3rd hold station in 4th and we’ll take it up after the race.

so – after a long race, with a confusing ending.. the drivers are summoned to a meeting to explain things – hamilton says the team says hold station in 3rd…but truli has gone by.

so did hamilton slow… or did he not?

The whole team deserve to be DQ’d for not knowing the rules!!

Hamilton knew the rules – he stated to Martin over the radio that Trulli had run off the track, and he had passed him.

the Team not knowing this… or how much trulli had run off felt it better to be safe and allow Trulli to pass… while trying to clarity things with Charlie, the race director (the man who said he felt Hamilton had done enough to give the place back to Kimi at Spa… at the time) race control was too busy to answer McLaren’s question… in the argument over the radio hamilton has slowed and Trulli goes by.

but i’d rather read a transcript of trullis and hamiltons interview by the stewards in the first meeting, rather than an interpritation/report on the meeting.

Saab 9-3, for example, is not a rebadged Vectra.

    No that’ll be the 9-5

the 9-5 has nothing in common with the Vectra. they are built on different platforms

the 9-5 on the GM2900 platform (like the Cavalier was) and the 9-3 and vectra uses the Epsilon

    otherwise back on topic.

    Citroen Berlingo/Peugot Partner
Citroen C1, Peugot 107, Toyota Aygo – all built in the same toyota factory.
    Citroen/Pug vans.

It needs a bike park so that the Town’s prestigious international bike mag can test bikes close to the pie shop!

There is one about 6 mile’s away 🙂

And a cafe shop about 2 min ride away from the park.

try Warrington (new town developments next to the M6) or Bury – currently loads of office and retail space being built by the fire station.

The man on pole still won.

and the bloke who started 18th finished 4th… no 3rd… and the chap who started from the pit lane finished…. 3rd… erm…12th (having overtake another car under safety car yellows… so given a 25sc penalty)

    EBC brakes

try EBC above. their oem replacements are every good. tho since you drive conservativly, dont bother going for the Greenstuff or Redstuff pads
and the same with the disks – just the standard disks, rather than the grooved.

    £25 per disk + £25 for pads.

Same with the 95 Aero I testdrove- great for motorways (read straight lines). Again ‘vague’.”

    eh?

yes great on the motorways (in fact it excels at crossing continents with the minimum of fuss, in comfort), but i do enjoy throwing it through the twisties (it was great fun on a trackday at Oulton Park – and the brakes held up far better than the BMW/Vauxhall/Audi equivalents who where coming in after 2 or 3 laps with cooked brakes. where as the saab was still stopping fine after 5 or 6 laps when i came in)

It does need a particular driving technique to get the best out of it – but i would suggest that if its feeling vauge – then i would be looking at what tyres are on it, and getting the aligment checked.

My Orange SPV is better, but they don’t do them any more.

Orange still do SPVs. its just they no longer brand the phones as Orange SPV, but are sold as HTC. 🙂

Ah so you have driven one of the worse brands of car for 20 years, and then moved up to a car based on said worsed brand of car,

FFS! an Audi is more of a rebaged Skoda than a Saab is a rebadged Vauxhall.

the only things common to both the vectra and the 9-3/9-5 share is the GM2900 platform (and later the Epsilon platform for the 9-3 and vectra) and a few of the engine hoses

other than that – suspension mountings, petrol engines, interiors are all SAAB.
