    Tandem – thats motorracing!

Button only won Turkey a couple of weeks ago, due to a mistake by Vettel on lap 1.

Hamilton finished 3 places ahead of where he started.

Alonso finished 4 places down from his starting position (behind his team mate.)

calling teams who disagree with him loonies doesnt suprise me… after all its not the first time he’s resorted to name calling.

a certain ‘certified halfwit’ slur on a former F1 driver springs to mind

How much easier does an application have to be? You shove a cd in the slot, iTunes opens, you click import cd, job done.

You have to click a button to rip a CD?

blimey – i use windows media – i clicked the ‘automatically rip cd’ tick box, so when i get a new CD i just pop it in the drive and it automatically rips to the specified location with all the ID tags completed. 🙂

i prefer my feet to be the traction control. (lowish power, RWD car) as my limits are alot lower than what the car can do.

in the saab the TCS is fairly benign – only seems to kick in on exiting some round about round the industrial estate where the lanes are VERY bumpy, and get alot of diesel dropped by the wagons and can be very slippey when it rains, and if sometimes flashes on briefly.

and when it snowed it only occasionally flashed on when trying to 3 point turn in our cul de sac (inclined with a pronounced crown to the road, and hard packs snow/ice under the wheels)

although a lot of people at work who have had Saabs reckon that they still were uncomfortable cars.

strange – i’ve always found saabs to be very comfortable, and the switchgear very well laid out.

did a trip over to Spa-Franconchamp last year – drove solid from calais to Stavelot (where the hotel was) and got out at the end of the journey feeling relaxed. the seats in the 9-5 are VERY comfortable! (and theres also alot of leg room in the back too)

These new fanatical muslim terrorists could learn a thing or two from the IRA, when they planted a bomb, no-one knew about it until the IRA told someone, or it went off.

thats the thing tho – we didnt know anything about the tube bombings, glasgow airport, Madrid etc. till they went and did it.

was a good day, came away a little sunburnt.

started off marshaling the path crossing.. then spent the last part of the race walking around seeing if there was anybody who wanted rotating.

nice to get a little surplus of folk willing to marshal the race.

We have a Vango Sigma 300+ which tho a 3 man tent, is just right for me n the missus. cost £60 a couple of years ago.

porch either end for shoes and bits and bobs, sleeping area big enough for a double airbed. and robust pole layout for the strong winds.
goes up in one, so no worries about inner/outer first pitching.

if you want to spend a bit more then a Vango Torado 300+ is a brilliant tent – mountain tent, very tough little tent, but a bit more cramped inside (no room for a double airbed, we tend to use either Fat Airwicks or campbeds when using this tent. but it is more expensive at about £200

Trafford bar station is a 5 minute walk away.

And Old Trafford station is right next to the Cricket Club. (tho depending on when the concert is – its worth noting that the Altringham line is being closed during August with a bus replacement service operating instead) but the eccles line will still be operating, but if your coming through from North Manchester area then remember the trams arent running through the city centre all summer due to rail replacement works.

there is parking at the cricket club, but with the new stand being built there is a big reduction in the number of spaces at the club available – i believe while the concert season is going on, our office car park is being taken over (my office window overlooks the pitch) the B&Q also does concert & football in the evenings.
otherwise there is alot of parking around Man U’s ground which is walking distance.

the camp site we used to stay at, at the junction before the M55 ends recently switched to Caravans only.. as have alot in the area. Last time i camped in Blackpool was at a Camping and Caravan certified location (ie someone with a bit of land which can have up to 5 units staying at any one times)

What about NightWish? Are they Viking?

Wouldnt say they are Viking Metal… seems more symphonic/power metal – just being finnish…(and now with a Swedish singer) they have a bit of a nordic theme to some of their songs.

Damn sight cheaper than buying at my local butcher/grocer/corner shop and all in one place.

were as here in Rossendale, it is slightly cheaper to buy from the local butchers (we have quite a few in the valley too) and so much nicer meat.

bacon, chicken fillets, pork chops that arent pumped with water to appear bigger.

for instance i would have to buy a pack of 4 fillets from Tesco to get the same level of meat as i do from 2 fillets from the butcher.

mince that doesnt just taste of paper like the crap you get from tesco and the others.

the best viewing spots at donington are currently being built on (the inside of the circuit overlooking the Craner Curves.

i’d go with Woody’s suggestion and head to Oulton at the end of the month, and watch Donny on ITV4 on sunday.

then park yourself somewhere top of Clayhill or Knickerbrook to get the best view. (tho i dunno about the best view as a speccie, as i’m normally the otherside of the fence.)

Is this the extension that would only happen if we agreed to the congestion charge?

no, this conversion of the railway line to the metrolink was funded seperatly.

the congestion charge would have unlocked the funding to close the tunnel under the town, and run the metro through oldham town centre instead.

But the whole lot was origonally proposed, but the goverment would only fund part of it… hence the part a and b stages

could always consider Todmorden and Hebden Bridge – still in Yorkshire, trainline through to Manchester or Leeds.

Bury has the Metro to Manchester – but has big traffic problems on the surrounding roads to the town centre.

Bolton – again train direct to manchester.

rossendale (Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Bacup) is nice, has a bit of a bad rep. but it is nice round here. no trainline except the historic railway to bury.

but it also stifles development and engineers/designers take less risks.

Plus i think it makes it harder for new, young drivers to get a seat, as they cant get the seat time during the season like they used to be able to, so teams having such limited time available will go with the old hand who can set the car up quickly.

Don’t forget that McLaren have said they dont wish to discuss it in public, and will be discussing it with the other teams ahead of the deadline. (ie they dont want to publically rattle FIA’s cage)

Toyota and Red Bull have also said they wont lodge and entry.

Williams say they will – they have no other choice. they are only an F1 team, they dont race, they dont exist. (that and that they are designing the chassis for the new Formula 2, so dont want to upset Bernie and Max)

at present the ‘winner takes all’ rule proposed for this year has been written into next year’s rules (but not highlighted like all the other rule changes for 2010… i guess the FIA have had lessons from New Labour on burying bad news.)

as for when would he become uncatchable.

if Brawn keeps up a JB/RB 1-2 then Jenson would be uncatchable from Singapore (say he crashes at Fuji, and is unable to compete for the remainder of the season, or simply fails to score any points and RB wins the remaining 3 races, then Jenson would win by 4 points)

Actually, for anyone thinking of going to Dubia to buy – a warning.

It is law over there that diamonds must be sold, sealed in alittle bag with its certificate. this is so that the diamond can not be swapped for another.

What this means is you cant SEE what you are purchasing, till it has been bought.
Also, i’ve found that what tends to happened because of the different customs – diamonds that have a good certificate result – ie good colour and clairity and weight (but not a very good looking stone – ie it would stand out in a shop window) will be sent out to Dubai and the like, while the better looking stones, but not always with the best colour and clarity results will go to the European and US markets.

at the top of the line are those smaller specialist cutters, generally based in the US, or in Antwerp (selling to the US market) who have very tight cut guide lines and cut a really sparkling diamond.

Tombell1989 – i think you lost your bottle where i was posted, on that bermed downhill hbit – where you then had a choice to go down the singletrack, or down the shorter drop off route – as a black and red (i think) bottle was found when me and the missus were rotated to new positions mid race.

Barrichello had a high speed impact

and only survived by the quick intervention by the medical teams – having been knocked unconcious in the impact, and swallowed his tounge.
