depends how big your front disks are really.

your speedo will underread by a certain amount – you can calculate by how much by putting the 2 tyre sizes in a calculator like [url=http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html]this[/url]

    to julianwilson:

both the guitarist and Bassist you refer to have left the band since you saw them…

and now have their own band (after lengthy law suites) call themselves 'Oliver/Dawson Saxon'

Biff and the other guitarist continue with a new guitarist, and bassist, and a revolving door of drummers (a bit like Judas Priest)

or in Anvil's case – dressing down.

Metal bands have a certain look.
lets face it – Saxon said it best – Denim and Leather brought us all together…it was you (ie Priest) that set the spirit free.

only traditional bulb we have in our house is the 60W (all they had in the Corner shop when it blew one sunday evening) one in the bathroom.
Tried a energy saver in there, but it didnt last long, being only on for short periods.

hall/landings/office/lounge/bedside table lamps are energy savers.
The lounge has 5x 40w equivalent candle shaped energy savers – so get the same warm white as a normal bulb, but all 5 lights use less energy than a single standard bulb – take 2secs to go from on but slightly dim, to full brightness.

have only had to replace 1 or 2 in the last 5 years (they were cheap ones from Ikea 3 for a £1 jobs)
We've been getting a bit of a stock up ATM – Lidl has been having offers on Phillips ES bulbs – buy 1 for 50p, or 5 for 49p (no i don't understand why it costs 1p less to buy 5 than to buy 1… but there you go.)

BTW – this is an interesting piece from the Jewish Centre for Public Affairs talking with the Chief Rabbi of Poland, Michael Schudrich, a couple of years ago – before all this current rucus, and provides a bit of background to the complex issues ongoing in Poland.

ahh TJ so you are talking about the latest labour smeers…

If we take Michal Kaminski MEP, of the Law and Justice Party – accused by Labour, and David Milliband in his conference speech, as being an Anti-semite, neo nazi.
Maybe this view from Stephen Pollard:

Editor of the Jewish Chronicle, and founding chairman of the European Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism, I am more alive than most to the dangers of the newly resurgent antisemitism. But there is simply no evidence that Mr Kaminski is an antisemite, only a series of politically motivated assertions. It is not Kaminski who is odious; it is those using antisemitism as a tool for their own political ends who deserve contempt.

    and

None of the supposed evidence sticks. It is mudslinging of the most disgusting kind, using a serious and worrying contemporary issue – antisemitism – to further political ends.

I have no axe to grind on Mr Kaminski's behalf. But I do have an axe to grind against false labels of antisemitism. Far from being an antisemite, Mr Kaminski is about as pro-Israel an MEP as exists.

David Miliband owes him a grovelling apology.

    link

maybe your Neo Nazis refer to the Latvians and the Fatherland and Freedom Party – the times set out to find them… and didnt – what they did find was the Latvian's paying tribute to those men, some conscripted by the Germans, who fought the Russians

maybe you can fill me in on whats so bad about the Czech Republic's Civic Democratic Party – maybe their claims to have similar ideas along the lines of the British Conservative Party is enough for you? This is a party who has members such as Sasha Vondra MP who were imprisoned for opposing the Communist government of Czechoslovakia (same with the co-founder of the CDP, and President of the Czech Republic, Václav Klaus)

Its interesting to note that the Latvian foreign ministry has had to complain to British diplomats about ‘unacceptable and ‘misleading remarks, the Latvian ambassador has expressed his surprise at the British Governments promotion of a version of history more usually heard from the Kremlin, while the Latvian foreign minister has condemned the smears against his government as ‘historically illiterate'. He has twice had to take Mr Miliband to task personally for his slurs.

are these really the 'nasty types' you refer to?

Jake – Why is he there? Just have Coulthard and Jordan.

you need an anchor man between the 2 pundits, i dont think Eddie, David or martin could pull it off without someone in the middle getting the directions from the producers.

David Croft paired with Martin would be good next year would be good,
Croft's pairing with Antony Davidson has been fun to listen to during the pactice sessions, and i hope Antony can get a drive next year. I always rooted for him during his stint in Super Aguri

Tonight there's going to be a jailbreak,
    Somewhere in this town,

ermmm somewhere like…i dunno… the JAIL?

    1. The Poet And The Pendulum

[Part 1: White Lands Of Empathica]

    The end.

    The songwriter's dead.
    The blade fell upon him
Taking him to the white lands
    of empathica,
    of innocence
    Empathica
    Innocence

    [Part 2: Home]

    The dreamer and the wine
    Poet without a rhyme
A widow writer torn apart by chains of Hell

    One last perfect verse
It's still the same old song
Oh Christ, how I hate what I have become

    Take me home

    [Chorus:]
Get away, run away, fly away
Lead me astray to dreamer's hideaway
I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, a whore for this cold world
    Forgive me,
    I have but two faces
    One for the world,
    One for God,
    save me
I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, a whore for this cold world

My home was there and then, those meadows of heaven
    Adventure-filled days
    One with every smiling face

    Please, no more words
    Thoughts from a severed head
    No more praise,
Tell me once my heart goes right

    Take me home

    [Chorus]

    [Part 3: The Pacific]

    Sparkle my scenery
    With Turquoise waterfall
    With beauty underneath
    The ever free

Tuck me in beneath the blue
    Beneath the Pain,
    Beneath the rain
Goodnight kiss for a child in time
    Swaying blade my lullaby

On the shore we sat and hoped
    Under the same pale moon
    Whose guiding light chose you,
    Chose you all

    "I'm afraid, I'm so afraid.
being raped, again and again, and again
I know I will die alone
    but loved.

You live long enough to hear the sounds of guns,
Long enough to find yourself screaming every night,
Live long enough to see your friends betray you.

For years I've been strapped unto this altar.
Now I only have three minutes and counting.
I just wish the tide would catch me first and give me
a death I always longed for."

    [Part 4: Dark Passion Play]

2nd robber to the right of Christ
    Cut in half – infanticide
    The world will rejoice today
As the crows feast on the rotting poet

    Everyone must bury their own
No pack to bury the heart of stone
    Now he

    r

    re home
Oh when did you become so cold?
The blade will keep on descending
All you need is to feel my love

Search for beauty, find your shore
Try to save them all, bleed no more
    You have such oceans within
In the end, I will always love you

    The beginning.

so you're being charged for borrowing money?

    Daylight robbery.

Well, we were being charge before – like every other bank you where charged according to the interest rate on overdraft and if they authorized or not.

We currently are £300 overdrawn (part of our authorized amount) on our halifax account, which i believe we are charged about £5 a month in interest.

if we dont pay it back before the new charges come in – £5 will jump to £30-31 a month – thats still £10 more than i was origonally paying on my student overdraft which was £2500 – when overdraf interest rates where higher!

Fair play to the BBC for letting this guy on – I dont agree with any of their policies at all but the more you deny someone the the right to a platform, the more ammunition you give them. Let him on & watch the whole thing blow up! Its going to be car crash TV this!

Exactly – give them enough rope… and they'll hang themselves! banning them will make them more powerful.
Confront their arguments, rather than shy away saying they should be banned, increases the appeal.

has being banned ever made anything go away?

Brilliant part of the race. tho thats about the most exciting bit of that race.
But ground effects cars, a 3000cc flat 12 engine in a chassis never meant to have Ground Effects verses the 1500cc V6 turbo of the Renault (which scored the first victory for a turbocharged car.

    RIP Gilles.

I'd also put John Watson's wins in Detroit and Long Beach as among the great classic drives – winning from 13th and 22nd position, on very tight and twisty tracks. Absolutely brilliant!

oh and i watched the video of the extended highlights of the 1982 Brazilian GP the other day – brilliant race between Keke Rosberg, Piquet Snr and Gilles… (including a protest at the results regarding 'water cooled brakes' )1982 Brazilian GP

    I enjoy marshaling.
the one thing i never get used to, is doing alot of car races – is being able to talk to the riders as they pass… normally the drivers dont hear you taking the mickey.

but big thanks to the riders – its a friendly atmosphere, and i never did that lap i promised the lass i would for her (rider 198 i think)

Never liked the idea of electronic handbrakes – i like the fact that the handbrake is a mechanical item that will work if the engine/electrics go for some reason.

First time i came across an electronic handbrake was when i had to drive my boss to a meeting, using his company car – Ford Galaxy. first lights i stopped at were on a very steep (up)hill – handbrake on, to release he said you've got to have the clutch down (it wont release if your on the bite point) and have your foot on the footbrake. blooming difficult to release the handbrake, find the bite point and get on the gas quickly – in a strange car while on a steep hill, without stalling the darn thing.

but the most useless feature was demonstrated to us when me and my mates where on as Land Rover experience day in a Disco3. the instructor demonstrated the emergency brake feature – you hit the handbrake button while moving, and it brings the car to an emergency stop automatically (while declutching too so you don't stall it)
that seemed useless – who, in a emergency is going to remove a hand from the steering wheel, find the handbrake button – rather than just stamping on the brake with your foot?

    Ti29er – i dont really care.

i bought some kit that – to me, sounded good. was an improvement over what i had. and i could afford.
The speaker cables i really wasnt too bothered about – except for the short run from the amp to the back of the room for the rear speakers.
Just took my time to make sure i got the wires the right way round.

i much prefer going out to gigs – seeing the band in the raw.

The only thing i would like to do, is when i can, upgrade my Wharfedale Moviestar 60 speakers for something a little larger (was origonally hankering after Acoustic Energy EVO speakers, but they've been discontinued)

    LordSummerisle

I thought about that, but decided that would be open to the accusation that there was then too much time between hearings so comparison wouldn't be possible?

    simple.

tell him you've changed the cables, while out actually having changed them.
then see if he can tell a difference.
seem to remember such a test being done on AVforums. with a chap and his wife being the test ears (he a audiophile, and she being married to him)

When i was setting up my Hi-fi equiment in my house after moving in, i popped over to Richer Sounds for some extra cabling and got to borrow there sample pack of different speaker cables – ranging from cheap 1-2mm cable that tends to come with cheap stereos, some 8mm cable, some more expensive cable and a bit of expensive cable. – i couldnt tell a differance except for the really cheap cable which was a bit hissy.

So i stuck with my £10 for 30m of JVC 8mm cable for the majority of the wiring, except for 10m of some more expensive cable, which was flat so i could run it under the carpet to the otherside of the room for my rear speakers.

Hawkwind – Silver Machine. for smegs sake HW have been going for 40years, have over 40 albums out… and the Radio Stations can only play that one song!

I really liked the new Triumph Bonnie went i went to the NEC bike show last year. as well as several of the more classic styled Triumph bikes.

those and the Royal Enfields were nice and comfortable, but as an everyday prospect a RE, with its single cylinder, and 27bhp would get annoying/tiring after a while as a daily commuter if your on motorways.
Tho 6 miles you'll be ok.
    £4000 new or so

    Good luck with the surgery.

I remember when i went in for my little triffling operation at Blackburn Royal.
The Anesthetist was late has he had got lost on the way to the ward (brand new hospital) to do the pre op checks/sign consent forms etc.

then being told it might be a little wait while a bed was free/time of surgery.
5 mins later got taken to a ward bed… oh and get into the gown its time to go.
Wandered through the hospital in my backless gown, (thankfully was allowed to wear my dressing gown with the trainee nurse and the missus down to the theatre prep room.
Once in to be anesthetized – one of the last things i remember hearing was from one of the chaps saying – "why are we using this? far too expensive for a little operation like this, ah well never mind"

then when waking up in recovery – the first thing i said will you let my wife know… they asked her number, i gave it. but got the last 6 numbers the wrong way round instead of saying 123 456, i said 456 123. So some poor sod got a message to say 'your husband is out of theatre now' 😆

the same limit was placed on attendees of Bloodstock festival – one slab of beer per person per day. reduced on Saturday to no alcohol at all past the entrance gate resulting in a near riot as everyone had popped down the road to Tesco get more, and had just hiked the mile from the car park to entrance to be told no more alcohol allowed.

tho widely thought to encourage folk to by slabs onsite – at £30 for 24 cans of carling, or beer at the bar (at £3.50 per pint – Hobgoblin or Carling)
oh and no alcohol to be taken from the camping areas into the arena (only alcohol bought at the bar to be drunk in the arena)

easy option – get a trike. you know, bike front end, with a bettle back end 😆

Bike controls, but with back seats, perfect.

also with the gears, take it slow. remember from 2nd to 3rd, the gear lever will go in itself, you dont need to physically put it there (doing that you can accidently get it into 5th.)
Try just sitting in a car with your eyes closed, and have someone say a gear, and you select that gear. so… like 1st, 4th, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 1st…

the weird thing about the berlingo is that the van came first, so its van derived car.

Christ, what sort of morons are employed at that company? (your wife not included, of course…)

no offense taken – the missus is based in the soils lab, and doesn't go on site.

2 of the guys that do (and have the most crashes attibuted to them) are f***ing morons. and the only reason they are working there, is they are brothers who related to one of the directors (they are the younger brothers of the director's wife). one of them wrote off one of the vans before he worked for the company, after nicking the keys from the other one to go for more beer… and being drunk himself…crashed… driving ban. etc. yet was given a job 'to keep him out of trouble' 🙄

the wife's works have had 2 Hiluxes. they hold the honour of being the only vehicles to have been retired (approaching 300,000miles on the clock) and sold on from the company… rather than sent to the scrappy after a couple of years like the other vans.

they do alot of work on construction sites, very often before work has started. for example they where up on Scout Moor doing pressure tests ahead of building the windfarm. They've been hit by contruction trucks, turned on their side when on the moor, fallen down foundation trenches… and they've gone on and on!
