Yes, not being in control of food must be a hard addiction to break. Drugs and alcohol have lots of support networks and a different public perception. Also it must be hard to give up something you’re addicted to if you still have to take it three times a day.
However I feel that a surgical solution is not the answer as it takes away ownership of the problem. there is a good chance the overeating is an indication of a bigger problem. Coaching, support and self control would be much more cost effective as they will help these people self manage and remain in control of their lives.
