Having repairs done to them can be a bit pricy as I have found out. Having a mondaine dealer close to you helps – which I do. The night vision faces are really good but the chronograph has gone out of sync. I am quite liking the Helvetica range.

I am not quite sure what to expect of the overnight camping toilet facilities 🙂

The toilet has zero privacy, but a great view, but that works both ways.

As a processing Geophysicist we are finding that a lot of exploration & processing projects are being canned. Word has it that the exploration should pick up again by end-2015 which doesn’t help my order book. Fortunately exploration offshore East and West Africa is thriving 🙂

The entries open on Dec8 – you may be struggling for accomodation in Roubaix itself now – we booked ours about 3months ago.

None of my mountain bikes are wsd. I am 5ft 3″ and ride xs bikes – yeti asr, niner emd9, samta cruz chameleon. If your wife is short then yes she will be limited by the range of xs small frames available. When I was looking for a decent hardtail I found that the range available to me was limited. TBH the scott contessa is a pretty good bike and I know a number of ladies who ride them and are happy with them. Go try it.

Bought mine from cycleworks in Leatherhead just under a year ago. Still getting used to riding a 29er but it rides light & of course every time you look down you see “pedal damm it”!

    Some interesting articles…
    http://www.geoexpro.com/articles/2014/02/unlocking-the-earth-a-short-history-of-hydraulic-fracturing

Thankfully napalm isn’t used any more!

In the 1940s, Floyd Farris of Stanolind Oil proposed that fracturing a rock formation through hydraulic pressure might increase well productivity. This was followed in 1947 by the first application of the ‘Hydrafrac’ process at the No.1 Klepper well in the Hugoton Field, Kansas. One thousand gallons of naphthenic acid and palm oil (napalm) were combined with gasoline and sand to stimulate the flow of natural gas from a limestone formation.

I bought some of the pipes last year and they are not as big as I remember them to be from my younger years. Got a big bag of salty liquorice on my desk – there are only 3 of us in the office who like it.

There are a number of small CX bikes on the market – it just depends upon how much you want to spend. IMO you probably couldn’t go far wrong with the Pinnacle arkose womens cx bike or try the junior range at worx bikes.

Bearing in mind that it was the first cx race that the club had hosted it went very well. It was grim weather but I saw smiles from racers through the mud clad faces!

I use both – flare under the saddle (flash mode) and the fibre flare on my rucksack. I thought the together both work pretty well as “being seen” lights but some drivers obviously still can’t see me!!! I find both reliable although the exposure flare does need tlc as crazy-legs said.

A good geomodeller that can understand and integrate the seismic, wells, geological knowledge and build a model that the reservoir engineer can history match quickly and easily are worth their weight in gold

If you are looking at becoming a drilling engineer I would not say that an MSc in Petroleum Engineering will get you there – it would more likely get you into an oil company or a seismic service company. IME of oil companies they prefer experienced people or PHd people and you are more likely to get into one of the exploration teams – so following a seismic survey through from design, acquisition, processing, interpretation and drilling. I work for a seismic service company and we hire MSc students but you may baulk at the salaries unless you go to Houston.
Where are you planning to study? I know that the MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Imperial and Leeds is incredibly difficult to get into. My boss is also on the technical board for the Imperial course so it

She doesn’t mind which size wheels she has but she cannot see the point of 29″ wheels for a 5ft 3″ person. Having 26″ wheels would keep down the cost a bit.
    She isn’t a fan of On-One bikes.
She likes the Yeti but her budget is more in the region of £500-700 for a frame.

I sewed a shoulder pad into the other half’s jersey when he rode it. Plus he used pipe lagging on the frame.

I always send pictures of hideously priced modernist houses that I could become accustomed to living in from the Wowhaus website to the other half…….balanced of course with pictures of an affordable 1965 Mustang fastback that I hanker after.

London League – mix of London races, some in Dover, some in brighton, other north London – big fields.
Central League – smaller fields, more Hertford based races.
Also look at wessex league – some of them are pretty easy to get to as well.
There are a number of people on here who race in these leagues – some just race, others race and promote races, others race and commissaire.
You might also want to look at muddy hell – night cx at Herne Hill.

I assumed it was them and am aware of their reputation. IMO if you are riding in club kit then you are the “face” of that club so should be respectful to other road users otherwise it reflects badly on the club.

My masseur was complaining about the chain gangs in RP. As a leisure cyclist she said that she found the groups intimidating and inconsiderate when passing her. She specifically mentioned one club – london something was what she said.

If you are cycling from Twickenham way to Chertsey then it is nothing like riding in central London. In general the worst places are Hampton Court bridge in the morning (~7am) and Twickenham high street in the evening (~8pm). I cycle from near Twickenham to Weybridge and have a pretty good route through Hampton/Molesy/Walton. You could go through Hampton/Sunbury/Shepperton. Either way the roads are all pretty wide and the traffic is pretty good. Weybridge can get a bit busy especially if there is an accident on the A3 and Walton bridge can get a bit maniac but the old bridge is being kept as a cycle/pedestrian bridge. You can get along the Thames towpath to as far as Weybridge as well – one of my colleagues comes in that way from Surbiton. Fortunately I have secure bike parking, lockers and showers at work so can take clothes in and leave them there for work.
