I have an old Mk1 VW Jetta and a four year old Scirocco. Both are insured through the same broker but with different insurance companies. The company that insures my Jetta decided the area we’ve moved to is similar risk to the last house and didn’t charge anything for updating the policy. The Scirocco’s insurers decided the new area is much higher risk and charged my £100 or about 25% more for the ‘privilege’.
Consistency would be nice.
Maybe the 2nd insurer have had more claims in that area.
Oh, while on the phone to Admiral they asked me if I’ve been on any speed awareness courses. Turns out now that if they ask you you have to tell them, which allows them to increase your premium anyway as it’s driving history.
The do ask about motoring convictions or offenses. But you don’t need to tell them. If you mention it though they HAVE to put it down. It’s still classed as a speeding offence in the eyes of the insurers.
