You purchased a road bike on review and spec only? Did you test ride?

I bought both my On-One’s based on reviews and spec. I love them. Last time I rode a road bike I was 11. So only 25 years ago. I’ve been measured up correctly and went for the best bike in my budget and the measurements I was given. I would have liked the Red ‘n’ Black but it’s not available in my size until April 🙁
Now I need to find another Black and Red SLR saddle…

I know. That’s why I chose that part. I know you all love patio weeds. PLUS the tyre valves don’t line up with the logo’s (on the two M-Trax anyway).

Don’t forget Dave Hinde. If you think CRC are bad the immpecable service from DH always fails to impress.

It’s only a Raleigh Mtrax. But it’ll go well with the other more original one.
He can’t box it so yeah there’s that too. My brother is in Leeds too but visiting my parents in Wem tomorrow so missed that trick too.

We havent bought any bread for 4 months. All is homemade with this my favourite recipe.

    300 ml Buttermilk
    1 egg
    1 Tablespoon of honey
450 gms strong flour or 300 gms strong + 150 gms self raising [gives slightly different texture]
    1 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda.
    1 Teaspoon Salt.
Make a good liquid mix of the milk egg and honey add to the dry ingredients and short knead on floured surface make a 18″ sausage like “Thing” bake on a baking tray dusted with flour to stop it sticking bake for 40 minutes in a 180 c oven.

If you dont have butter milk, make a substitute [which is what I use] 300ml milk add 2 tablespoons of either Lemon juice/white wine vinegar/cider vinegar to sour it.

Sounds nice Dales_rider but part of the reason behind buying a machine is because our youngest is allergic to egg and dairy 🙁
Next on the list is a Pasta machine so I can make egg free pasta 🙂

Well after nearly a month of owning it. It’s been used nearly everyday. Some days twice. It makes much nicer bread than shop bought and all I need to do is plonk the ingredients in and press a button. Free’s up 2-3 hours of not having to make bread.

It’s all (apart from a couple of models) modern stuff bought in the last 3/4 years. Based in South Wales so the Wirral and Sheffield are a little far. Only place that seems to do it is the Cardiff GW. So looks like eBay I think.

The loaf turned out surprisingly well. Bacon and cheese. Very tasty it was too. I’ve not got the time to make it all by hand. I also like the crust the machine gives.

I got an Andrew James one. Mum chose it over the newer version of her Panasonic cos it was cheaper and had same functions. If I use it enough then I will upgrade when it dies.

    Mock Turtle Soup

    About This Recipe
“A standard “starter” at the swanky Grant Grill in the San Diego U. S. Grant Hotel for many years was Mock Turtle Soup. Tux adorned waiters always suggested a dollup of “cherry wine” (sherry) to top the soup. This is my rendition.”
    Ingredients
    For the roux
1/2 cup clarified butter 1/2 cup flour For the soup
2 tablespoons olive oil 1 cup yellow onion, diced 1 cup red bell pepper, diced 1/2 cup celery, diced 1 tablespoon minced garlic 3 cups canned crushed tomatoes 3 cups chicken broth 1 lb extra- lean ground beef 4 hard-boiled eggs, grated 2 tablespoons lemon juice 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper 2 bay leaves 3 tablespoons Italian parsley, chopped 2 tablespoons wine vinegar 1 tablespoon kosher salt 2 teaspoons kosher salt Directions
Brown the clarified butter and flour in a small saucepan, stirring constantly to avoid scorching.
    Reserve.

Page 2 of 2Mock Turtle Soup (cont.)
    Directions
In a soup pot, add oil and sweat the onions, peppers and celery until tender.
Add garlic, tomatoes, chicken broth and ground round.
Bring to a simmer for 15 minutes.
Add grated eggs, lemon juice, seasonings and vinegar.
    Continue to simmer.
Place small amounts of roux into soup while simmering to flavor and to adjust thickness.
Once desired thickness is achieved, remove bay leaves and serve in pre-heated bowls, with a dollup of dry sherry.

    You shouldn’t mock..

We had an enormous Leatherback turtle for a pet once.. I loved that animal dearly but it kept making racist remarks to my next door neighbour’s wife..

Obviously this couldn’t continue and the turtle had to be put down eventually, but we softened the blow by having it preserved and turned into a waterfront hotel just off the main esplanade at Budleigh Salterton

Is that a Mock Turtle then?

My On-One was sent by Yodel. Arrived safe and sound when it was supposed to. I returned the forks to On-One by Yodel and again arrived safe and sound. The replacements were sent back to me again by Yodel and guess what… No issues. But I have seen the retrobike thread and the mess they made. I guess its a case of you pays your money you takes your chances. Every courier has their faults. Hermes I’ve got to know the local delivery person so she knows where to leave stuff or collect stuff if I’m not in. But Royal Fail and Parcelfarce always go to the wrong address if they even bother trying to deliver. I had a set of Carbon riser bars crammed through the letter box last week and they got jammed in there. Took me 20 minutes to get them back out.

Music while on the road through one ear (hearing in my left is a bit dodgy so always in that one). Off road though I like to hear the sounds of the trail. No Satnav/Garmin/Strada though. I can’t be bothered with the nonsense and the standing around checking Strada for half an hour before riding.

I used to live in the wonderful dump people call Newcastle-under-Lyme. When I started mountain biking 20 odd years ago I had a route from home to Keele woods then over to Hanchurch then down to Trentham gardens. About 26 miles altogether loved it. What’s more I live in South Wales now between BPW and Afan. Been to Afan once in 5 years. I use OS maps and the beach trails.

Pretty competitive is an understatement. £1000 for a carbon 456 with SRAM X9 and Rockshox Revelations is an absolute bargain IMO. Plus the On-One Maxx wheels are nice and clicky 😀

Driving other cars on most policies only comes into effect if the other car is insured as well. As said earlier SHE faces a fine and a ban and hefty insurance costs if she gets an IN10 🙂 As she’s an ex. Why bother with her?

Even though you may have paid for the car. It’s in her name so still legally hers.

As a third party if there was any accidents there is a body to claim from (name escapes me at the moment) for people claiming for accidents involving uninsured drivers.

I had the Galaxy note when it came out. Loved it. Only got rid because when ICS came out it went very slow. I do regret getting rid of it. I loved it. When my renewal comes round I’ll be getting either Sony Xperia Z Ultra or the Galaxy Note 3.
