+1 for Thomann, very quick shipping (3-4days), and a returns policy they allows return within a month.

Please, just give him a REFUND, I think you’d struggle to find any normal person who thinks what you have done is OK.

I was looking at this last year, aside from the pricing structure, (which is basically holding customers to ransom for images of their kids) the fact that the HiKey pictures Venture produce look like ‘Venture’ pictures, and are already starting to look dated.

In ten years time, they won’t be a timeless memory of your clidren, they will just look dated. I’ve see people had Venture pic’s up at work, and they are only visually appealing for a very short period.

It’s too much money for something which ain’t gonna last.

Salamons vary greatly between shoe models, most are quite narrow, but some are really wide, dunno if you can tell from the webiste? I have 3 pairs and they are very different fittings.

I looked at VW / Ford towbars earlier this year, they are typically £320 for generic electronics or £550 for dedicated (i.e. the cars esp systems are aware your towing). PF Jones is a good place to start for pricing. Be careful that you don’t get a main dealer to charge £1000 for generic electronics, which is what our VW / Audi dealers were proposing (I was looking at an Audi at the time).

PF Jones are national, but think their head office is in Manchester…they appear to have a good rep, but never got to use them.

Think the reviews / ratings on allmusic are by and large spot on for Zappa….

I use Media Monkey. I found there is a bit of a learning curve, but it’s very powerful, and generally does what I want it to. Version 4 is just released and I think supports error checking on ripping, which is pretty much essential if you need to rip CD’s.

If it’s a medium/long term contract, I try to get in a shared house w/garage. Failing that, try to sound out staff guys who are into biking and leave your bike with them.

I bought a non-3G version, but wish I’d gone for the 3G, it’s so much easier if your abroad than messing on with data roaming. If I never left the UK, i’d probably go for the non-3G.

TBH, you don’t need an enquiry to work out that the tabloids are scum…pick up a copy any tabloid paper and look at the content…it tells you everything you need to know about the editorial practices.

By buying them you are creating the demand for everything that goes with it, so no, i’d never buy a tabloid.

I’d deffo avoid the 1.8, the 2.0 much better. I had a 2.5T (petrol) until recently and it was ace, really smooth, if you don’t do many miles they are well worth considering.

Really enjoying Boom Bip at the moment though.

took up the banjo two years ago and never looked back. Best thing in my non-cycling/running world. In the end I had lessons (still do) and it really helped me improve. If you can find a good local teacher, then I’d go in that direction. Guessing the guitar’s no different.

Totaly agree with this, if you want to get good, quickly, a good teacher is bar far the best way. If you don’t, you can get all sorts of horrible bad habits which prevent you from progressing, unless you start relearning. A youtube video can’t see what your doing to offer advice on what’s going wrong. Even if it’s once a fortnight for a half hour, a teacher can make things so much easier. They can also save you a lot of money in pointing you in the right direction for decent gear.

The boot is small, but the rear seats do slide forward 4-6 inches making it slightly bigger. They do have roof rails and the economy is still good with bikes on the roof.

The boot would be much better if there was no spare wheel (as per some Skoda yetis), but the boot tapers below the shelf, so you can’t easily remove the spare and foam packing to convert to using a can of tyre seal.

    The 4wd is brilliant though.

Must admit, I had a HT-5 as a second amp, and sold it for a low price so maybe there is something in what bigdawg says :-)

I don’t think there is anything wrong with them….not heard any reliability problems, I had the combo and sold it for c£170 on ebay, think I paid £220 new, so seems about right? How much do they go for now?

Think as a brand they are doing OK, i’d certainly prefer their stuff over any of the current Marshall offerings, although I’d prefer Orange over both.

Think bigdawg is hinting at a common problem with a lot of the guitar gear launched at the moment, it gets rave reviews as the guitar mags have to print something exciting, then the products just drop off the radar when people move onto the next must have product.

Thought the amp part of the HT-5 was OK though, really good value for money, the combo was a bit naff as the cab was to small and it sounded a bit boxy.

Do you have to use the same brand/model of homeplugs throughout the network?
I theory no, but they have to be the same speed. (e.g. 85 or 200). Personally, i’d buy from the same manufacture to make life easier.

My printer can be connected directly to a computer to a USB. Can I connect it to the router through a Homeplug through USB (it doesn’t have an ethernet socket)

You can send USB over Ethernet (using additional hardware), but last time I looked it wouldnt be worth the hassle for a printer (unless it’s something special).

I’ve been using homeplugs for a few years now, think they are probably the best bit of tech I’ve bought for a long time…totally hassle free.

You will go through a phase of asking for help, then you will just think **** screw that I’m just going to make it up as I go along

Sooner you get to that point the better. So much advice is handed out, and in reality, impossible to follow.

    Things that worked for us…

Relaxing and having the confidence to ignore advice.

Not falling out with the inlaws (didn’t do too well at that).

Get him/her on dual fuel (bottle and breast) as soon as you can.

Don’t buy a baby monitor. You need a break without listening to every whimper. Baby’s are actually pretty good at getting attention when they need it :-)

We are on our third, and looking back, it was us who created most of the stress.

OK, thanks. Looking forward to checking it out, liking them more and more with each listen…they seem to have a really good outlook on production and playing (doing instore gig’s and producing themselves). There are so many little details on (measure) which only come out after listening to it a few times, and I really like stuff like that.

It’s cool the drummer sings too :-)
