CBD brothers – The purple one is good. Get it online for cheapness.I tried it during a tricky phase at work and it help me poker face through some very tricky meetings. It’s also good for long stressful journeys.

I’ve got to laugh at anyone suggesting a trip to a doctor for a man dealing with anxiety is a good idea. He’d get told to man up and given some manky chemical script at best. Doctors are not at all good at such things.

In her late teens my wife worked at TGI Friday. One weekend she and some pals decided to go travelling for a bit, starting in Amsterdam. Legend has it that she danced into the restaurant, grabbed a beer mat, wrote her resignation on it, spun it along the bar toward the manager, turned her back and walked out. Years later, post travelling, she got her job back from the same manager.

I’d love to cycle to work more but I have to drop off the kids at school which leaves little time.

Avoid fake meat, it’s all rubbish. Quorn just produces excessive fartgas as it’s mainly undigestable. Aim for good fresh veg cooked well.

6’6″ and 13st. Whether I eat more or less I stay the same. Apart from 1st year at uni when I dropped to 11st. I looked like an Auschwitz escapee.

Dude. I was in a similar state last year. I bought myself a Kona Shred. It was cheap enough to justify the purchase but not so cheap as to be useless on rough ground. I tend to just cycle out the front gate and ride as far as time between parental duties allows- that can be up the local hills, or over the bridge or a mild canal bimble. Sometimes the shred sits in the shed for weeks untouched but it’s always there when I need it. The shred wouldn’t suit everyone but it’s just right for me and it sounds like a similar whip would suit you. For the love of God man – don’t quit now when a therapeutic ride will be needed the most.

Interesting. The north Edinburgh to Gorgie one was on the radar. Any more around the central belt?

We were thinking of doing this in August. We’d planned an easy oasy 4 day adventure.

Your design sounds good but get used scaffy boards instead of gravel board. You won’t need a membrane.

Rant\Society is ****. We’ve no community any more. We live in bubbles isolated by distance from family and friends. Kids can’t play in the park because of all the dogshit. We work, watch telly and sleep. Nobody has free time because the cost of living is so high. Everything is set up for us to be good little consumers, earning to spend and buy. A quick giving an endorphins buzz where a cuddle used to do. Men are getting it bad now. Feminism needs to include men now and the balance of freedom and responsibility evened up./endrant

So much sadness on this thread. So much support from forum users. You guys are awesome. OP, I hope everyone finds a way forward and upwards.

The one you sent the link for is what I aspire to. I love my Kona but I got it at a £500 down from £800.

Call your local beekeepers association. They’ll get the swarm in a box and then look after it. DONT KILL THEM.

Actually I challenge the OP to a duel. You get your frame today so you’ve got a headstart. Let’s see if I can get my forks fitted tomorrow before you finish the build.

I bought forks from Taiwan via eBay on Tuesday. Expected turnaround was 2 to 3 weeks. Courier has emailed to say they’ll be here on Friday. In your face OP. I was going to buy from CRC but customer service guy was trying to sell me something completely wrong.

I’m a big advocate of making all politicians have magic mushrooms every day for Brexit breakfast. It would sharpen their creativity and enhance empathy. PMQT would be much more entertaining too. Otherwise I think we’ll forever be stuck with career politicians with no integrity.

Next time qwerty. New bike (next year) will likely have better wheels. Mine are 9mm axle. I didn’t want to spend £200 on forks and have to buy a wheel too.

Hi all. I thought I should put this thread to bed. After much research, pacing and soul searching I’ve opted for Suntour Epicon forks. They fitted the spec of my bike perfectly and at a knockdown £128 SWMBO wasn’t mad. Sticking Fox forks on an entry level hardtail seemed a little crass anyway.

Thanks for all your advices and offers – much appreciated.

I think the Epicons will suffice for my preferred cycling style which is to head out the front gate for the nearest path or trail and see where my nose takes me. They should stand up to an occasional gravelly downhill section in the Pentlands or gnarly woodland single-track.

    Peace-out.

Nothing in party politics will make a blind bit of difference. We needed a total paradigm shift about 20 years ago.

We’ve already reached peak oil and peak phosphate. Peak lithium is about 50yrs away. We’re on a massive population overshoot like yeast cells in a rich agar jelly. With luck after the initial human population collapse, caused by resource wars and starvation, our population curve will follow the classic dampened oscillation seen in every other pioneer population curve. Without luck we’ll nuke the planet and that will be that. I ride my bike to forget about it. You can all recycle your plastic and argue about Brexit if you think it helps.

Love this thread. I’m in a similar couch based getting wasted rut. Have dabbled with bass and electronic music but need something more consuming. Have spent 8 years letting my wife get out in the evenings while I stay in with the kids. That was to stop her going mental but now I am.
