I would ask what your new riding buddies are riding and if they had to buy again what would they buy?   Mountain bikes are like shoes- so many different types and you need to make sure it fits and is suitable for your intended purpose.

If your new riding buddies are into big Cross Country  rides, you may want to look at lightish 29er with neutral-ish head angles. Or do they go and ride chunky technical stuff that you want to learn to ride? Then look at long, low slack etc.

Take your time selecting- as riding the wrong type of bike could hold you back in both confidence, fitness and skill levels because your reference point will be your rding buddies.

SK has irritated me slighlty recenlty,  but Matt Everret really rips my knitting.  He’s 6Music’s equivalent to Richard Hammond and needs a good dousing in vagisol.

Magic Mary front Hans Dampf rear.  Put them on in the autumn and they wear down quite nicely for the spring.

I was devoured by clegs  riding the NC500 last week.  Apparently, according to BBC Breakfast,  midges can only fly at 3-5mph max whereas clegs can fly up to 15mph and they’re attracted to shiny dark clothing.   But since that is from the beeb i would take it with a pinch of salt

I’m running a boost crankset on a boost frame.  I think something is flexing as it only happens when I come to a techy bit and you need to spin it up.

lost it a bit for a couple of years, then bought a new bike and loved it for a year and got a bit bored of driving to get to good bits. Then started enjoying gravelly/road biking for a good bit, mainly because I did it from the door, but now I’ve been all directions multiple times it was getting a bit samey.  Recently bought a new mountain biking and I’m loving it again. Gravel bike hasn’t been touched since.

in summary you need a new bike.

Only bike I really change is my full sus. My roadbike and hardtail do the same thing they’ve always done.  My FS changes as my riding & circumstances change.

I thnk the Braes trails are spot on for their intended purpose and the council and bulders should be commended.

I stay about 20 mins from the Braes and I go up occasionally when I just want a quick blast or to shakedown a  bike.  I was up the other week to see the new bits and it was great to see  lots of kids having a blast on the new pump track.

The genius part for me is that Childish (Donald Glover) has used imagery/symbolism that’s sparked a challenge to the mainstream without actually calling out the mainstream, therefore the mainstream are then openly debating the shortcomings of the mainstream. Genius.

I think that’s the point stoner.  People are being blindsided by the awesome theatre  but all the shit happening  in the background is being overlooked,  Things like the way guns are cosseted yet the victims are dragged away.. Powerful stuff

RH79 If you have a slow puncture, do you think the clamping of the wheel will provide less hold and the bike will rattle about?

I had a CVO Springer for a year and a bit. It was reliable enough but was uncomfy and some of the fixings etc were pretty cheap and rusted at the slightest whisper of rain. If you ride for an hour, you have to clean it for two.

I found the forward feet riding position hurt the small of your back after a couple of hours riding as you couldn’t adjust position.

I think you’ve got to get Harleys and the whole Harley scene.  I didn’t.

    Far better bikes out there

I’ve dug out my passport issued in 1985 – its as near to black as I can tell, I don’t know where this notion of <em class=”bbcode-em”>the iconic blue passport ever came from.

This!   It must be only people in their 60’s or 70’s that are nostalgic for the ‘Iconic Blue Passport’   Or are we just trying to suck up to the ‘merkins?

Just listening to this from 1986

‘Well it ain’t written in the papers, but it’s written on the wallsThe way this country is divided to fall

So the cranes are moving on the skyline Trying to knock down this town

But the stains on the heartland, can never be removedFrom this country that’s sick, sad, and confused

The ammunition’s being passed and the lords been praised But the wars on the televisions will never be explained

All the bankers gettin’ sweaty beneath their white collars As the pound in our pocket turns into a dollar

This is the 51st state of the U.S.A.
