I’ve recently got a velospace xt, mainly as it will hold plus tyres and ebikes so future proofed a little, it’s heavy, I have a bad lower back due to work injury every so often it goes on me, and i struggle with the rack now and then…

I used to have a Euroway I had this for 10 years well feels like 10 years, it’s been great only snag is it wouldn’t hold my plus bike.

I’ve had no major issues with ether racks and would recommend as so much easier once on the car compared to roof bars I’ve ran before.

The only issue I had last year was the wiring came loose and I dragged it all the way from Scotland, but I found it’s simple enough to rewire and worked as good as new after.

The resale value is good, I got £150 for my Euroway when I sold it on, was fairly impressed think I paid £250 all those years ago!

I think the battleship blue is awesome! Can’t figure out how to post a picture but hopefully a link…

    Speshi stumpjumper

My last bike was SRAM, and to be honest, very little between it. Shimano have upped there game, the XT feels better than the Sram GX I have on my fuse.

Before I got the stumpy I had another bike on my radar which was the Trek Fuel ex8 plus, there’s about £850 difference in cost, stumpy has the upper hand ever at that price difference, carbon fibre, better brakes, 29er wheels while the trek has 27plus.

The other factor is it was in stock, the trek still isn’t, I doubt there will be a spec change as the bikes are less than 3 months old, but specialized have done a mid launch change before..

I did my usual round the car park at the fort Dunlop store, which was it, I’ve got the ST version, the evo was out of my price range so didn’t try, they did have one in stock.

I’m onto the 3rd ride out on the new stumpy and it’s grown on me, gone from not sure to loving it! For me it inspires confidence there’s some features at Cannock I haven’t ridden in years, today nailed them all! The swat feature is great means less on my back, tempted to use a roadie jersey next trip and ditch the backpack.

Im not hitting strava highs but not expecting to, the bike does attract attention on the trails I get asked what’s that? As the logo ‘s are discrete, at the cafe had a couple of bikers having a look, yep had it locked up!

Possibly second best bike I’ve ever had, Orange P7 tops the list.

I declared my tow bar, until recently made no difference I moved house nice area but terrible postcode due to shunt/whiplash claims, insurance sky rocketed until I asked esure to check my towbar and adding that dropped the insurance back down to the previous figures so worth declaring.

Forgot to say mine isn’t the Stans wheelset, but a speshi one, I’ve refitted the cassette with the spacer, lost a cog for a bit as it flew across the room and couldn’t figure out why it was worse with a spacer… but all sorted and fitted perfectly now!

I didn’t use the spacer and there’s some play in mine, I might try fitting the spacer tomorrow..

I’ve only had revs or reba’s 110-125mm over the years and tbh the fox forks where great! It’s the clearance for 27.5 plus that’s why I got it.

Felt disconnected, didn’t feel quite right, but that could be the chunky tyres, or just dry trails, after the first hour it settled down and felt great to ride.

I guess to bear in mind it’s my first carbon bike, and first time on Fox forks, the whole bike is a massive upgrade to what I’m used to.

Yep I’ve got one, first ride out yesterday, I’ve got the carbon comp st 29er, felt a bit odd at first, distant to the trail, but once I settled and I tweaked the suspension was a great ride, good downhill and quick! But only early days, I’m hoping it will be as good as the camber 26er expert I had…

I think it’s just one tour too many, 3 on the bounce and wins! The giro was immense, maybe he is planning that again to just take 5 mins back in the last possible stage.

He is like one of the guys at work, no humour not loud, never off sick but just gets to work and gets the job done, I doubt he will get any other rewards for his efforts like Wiggins, I mean 1 tdf and BBC sports personality of the year and a knighthood (yes I know he did other stuff) but 4 tdf wins is immense! Got to wonder what does he need to do!

G deserves the win and team sky do for the crap they have had to put up with in this tour!

Was offered refund or resend today, if they had offered yesterday I would of took resend, but I have an Evans local and the pricing isn’t far off crc so opted for refund and I can click/collect Evans. So just waiting on the refund, guessing that will take a week!

Different wheel but I left mine in the sun for the day, then some talcum powder and eventually it went on! Dreading having a puncture!

Hasn’t been resolved as yet… yodel claiming they delivered not sure what crc believe so email tennis at the moment. Guessing I won’t be trying plus wheels on the full sus this weekend after all.

Banana malt loaf bars and jelly Babies, and porridge before cycling on those colder days.

I didn’t expect anything else but yodel emailed back stating there driver delivered and I accepted said house description matched google earth…

When I asked them what I was wearing when I allegedly signed for it, he couldn’t remember…so basically just lies..

So I rely on crc now hopefully it’s not too drawn out…

Spoke to crc, going to pass to shipping and investigate driver…could take up to a week, so it’s hold on and wait…

Well just signed it as my first name, as that was on the parcel invoice…

I told them I always sign signature for everything never just first name. Tbh I forgot crc used them otherwise i wouldn’t of ordered but apart from some shifters 10 years ago pretty much never lost anything before in the post.

Yep we forgot they had a younger dog now, lost a trainer for a bit on the last visit, breakfasts where great and if you let them know an eta they have been for us ready, offload the car and hit the trails as soon as you arrive!

We always stay at craiguart guest house, they have 3 twin rooms, breakfast is pretty good, directly opposite Glentress, about 20min walk into town. Bike garage is secure tbh I park up and just leave the car there for the few days we go each year.

Previous owner was a gas engineer as his day job so you think a newly fitted boiler and flue would be fine? Nope, first heavy rain we had the hallway flooded, got a roofer out and nope it’s your gas flue. Turned out he fitted the wrong degree and type of tile to the roof. As it rained water built up behind the flue and then poured in the house. To combat this he had fitted layers and layers of flashing, turned out it gave way after they moved. Not great! Still finding other stuff like the radiators all at odd angles,    bathroom when we retiled not a single wall is straight, and no insulation in the extension, I could go on….

I did this yesterday, ordered a stumpy….plan to swap my plus wheelset over, only when I got home I realised my plus wheelset is 10speed, 11 on the stumpy and 180mm disc, 200mm on the stumpy.

Might just buy a plus wheelset as well in a few months!

Had a look at the new stumpjumpers today, out of my price range but they fit the bill will take a plus tyre, already boost’ed front and rear end, the st model in carbon looks perfect for my needs and fits perfectly when sat on the bike. Even offered to take my fuse and camber and let me keep my plus wheels to get the bike under budget, very tempted!

My velospace turned up today, a question for @orangespyderman the plastic cover that goes on the towbar hitch, does yours sit straight or a bit off to the plastic on under the lever.. and when hitched it seems a bit tight compared to the euroway which clamped and straightened as it clamped, this one has to be perfect for the securing lever to come down spent 10 mins and I couldn’t get the lever to latch at all.

I run candy’s on all my bikes, road, commuter, mtb, fatbike just makes it easier, although I’ve struggled to find a good mtb shoe for the road bike.

About 3 yearly, normally run a hard tail and a full sus, but I rarely upgrade, my bikes are standard straight through till the end. Currently have a fuse expert 2 years old and love riding it and a camber 3.5 years old it was the last redesign after the evo model and they appear the same since. So this year new bike, both my lbs have told me there’s a trek day this week so I’m hoping for a fuel ex 8 plus missed this years model.

I do wish I had never sold my 2012 camber expert 26er, so now no more selling bikes.

Tbh the bulbs are new and the boot tilt function works which many say this fails. I dragged the cable 200 miles down the motorway, didn’t realise till I got home. I over engineered the reconnection with a waterproof junction socket etc… looks pretty ugly but does the job and honestly thought it would put off anyone wanting to buy it, but seems being honest paid off.

Ordered the velospace and surprisingly sold my euroway within 10 minutes must of put it too cheap but my dodgy rewiring was an issue hence I only put it up for £150 which I thought was overpriced but it’s sold.

Yep I have a ds3 (don’t laugh I like it) my euroway tilts and it’s funny at service stations the looks you get, amount of times I’ve had someone come across to talk about the “smart” bike rack. Looks like VeloSpace it is, anyone want a euroway….
