Ive got one of those plastic shims for my GF's bike she has a Giant XTC ex with a silly seatpost size its 30.8??wtf?? we had to cut her seatpost down as she is shorter than me! but when i want to use the bike i have to fit a 27.2 seatpost and shim, works so far no issues or squeeks.

My P7 came with a metal shim fitted, can't get the damn thing out so leaving it there!

Ive got some new deore, the 2010 ones, yep they look nice, but performance is poor, well was, i popped some discopads sintered in and loads better. Not as good as my older hayes 9's but much better!

Ive got the Charge Spoon on both my bikes, but they are beginning to wear out, ive only had them a few months!

Any suggestions for some better ones would be good!

Ive got a 100mm travel full bouncer, and yep it does everything it should, but im currently building (nearly finished!!) a 140mm Travel hardtail, as my trail bike the reason for this is some of the new features at Trail centers are bigger than my 100mm can take and i often bottom out (did you see my pic thread??).

I also ride cannock alot and have enjoyed the DH stuff over at stile cop, while the new bike wont be a DH monster but will allow me to enjoy the DH that bit more than my current bike.

So i will have the best of both worlds, my trail bike for blasting DH and other stuff and my full bouncer for the natural stuff, hope that makes some sense?

Yep same as above its the 06 model, depends on howmuch he/she wants for it??

I have the ex7 same year and its a great bike, rides really well, only snag i have is its limited to 100mm travel and ive contacted Trek thats all it will take without voiding my lifetime frame warranty, one thing to check is the carbon rear end and look for chainsuck mine has been battered, ive had to cover it up to prevent anymore damage.

I only had 100mm to start with, im guessing the pic above has twice that!

I called Orange about 3 weeks ago as my P7 i think may be too big when i finish the build! i was after the 15" version. Orange said early sept before the new P7's would be about and thats the earliest.

Last year the new models didn't hit the stores until October, not sure if that helps or not?

I had the nurse at my local gp's take mine out, due to being in the face, chin and above my lip, wanted them out properly as not to make too much scarring!

Really enjoy the climb, makes you feel alive!!

The downhill was fun, but nothing special but worth a trip now and then!

Ive just gotback from Ft Bill, from the top of the gondola its just the red/black dh, the red is more black than red immense fun but a couple of brown trouser bits!! also feels like they ran out of money towards the end of the trail as its just freshly cut trail no trail bedding of stones or different top cover and it just ends?? could of been so much better!

I took my other half, and would highly recommend Laggan Wolftrax the fun park has an uplift service and is great fun for a blast, the food in the cafe is ok and the red trails offer some technical fun.

The trails around Leanachan forest especially spean bridge area are loads of fun, some great descents and a good mix of fire road and singletrack trails.

New red dh, is there any time it's a bit qiueter?

I've done the witches trails a few times over the last few years, I know what to expect there.

Someone is bound to rip my head off, but the Soul is a much better bike, feel, paintwork etc just miles better!

The 456 is ok for a temp, but wouldn't want it as a solution for my HT, a mate has one and while he thinks its great he admits he prefers the P7 and the Cotic, so much so he is going to buy a new frame in the next few weeks and keep the 456 as his backup if something was to go wrong.

Don't get me wrong the frames are ok, ive got one in the shed but its a back up and for £125 a great price for a second frame!

Im staying in Spean Bridge so planning on doing the Corrour Route, Red DH, Witches Trail, loads of forest stuff at the back of where im staying, will defo do Laggan (will spend the day there!). If ive got enough Petrol tokens im planning on doing Golspie as well.

Im only riding a 100mm Full Bouncer and the Mrs has a 80mm HT, so no big hitters but should be fun, weather doesn't look too bad next week so should be good!

I won't get there till Sat afternoon, so might take a trail in on the way up from Brum

Im heading there myself, for a week!! planning on doing the red downhill, having looked at the video only the wooden sections worry me a bit, but have brought some mtfu knee pads!!

Witches Trail is ok, last year bits were closed but its still good fun, even if a bit short!

I purchased my Revs from Merlin, yep no serial no but ive had no issues.

The forks have been serviced by TFT – no issues, merlin have been superb with the backup customer service, i didn't get the Pop-Loc and i didn't notice for a few months as i didn't need the forks, so i didn't check. After a call and an email i got the pop-loc. They recently sent me a travel adjust spacer which i admitted i had lost, free of charge in the post! I doubt my LBS would of given me the same level of customer service.

The forks where exactly what they described on the website, a bargain and they do exactly what i need.

Thats just what my girlfriend does!! although she farts everywhere not just the office!!

There is a hill at Cannock, its something i use as a challenge, stick the gears into the big ring and sprint up the hill, my mates hate it as one minute im there next gone. This is the only time i use the big ring, i have thought about ditching it for a double and a bash and i suppose if you only ride trail centers or downhill it could be done, but having the extra gear is always handy!

The first time i went, we came across Stourbridge Cycle Club they were riding on road bikes!! doing "The Beast" very brave! also these guys were very fast, i overtook them on the downs but they flew past me on the fireroad climbs!

I prefer to ride a full bouncer and gears!!

Ive currently got 3 bikes, with 3 different air shoxs, Revs 426, Reba Teams and Reba SL's none of the demostrate what you guys are saying, they hold air perfectly and there is no difference between taking the pump off and checking the pressure before a ride, have you tried a different pump??

TBH it was a conversation, myself and my biking buddy where in Swinno's at Cannock Chase, they have the Trek 69er on display, i commented that for £1300 thats alot of cash for a single speed bike!

We got outside him on his 456 and me with a P7 currently being built and we discussed the possibilities of building up 69er from what we already had, seeing as the 456 is superbly priced we thought of building one, thats why i came on here for some advice.

I will be ordering the Deore for my new build soon'ish! the older LX is perfect if your going to strip it down for a double and a bash, but as a triple its a too big for an mtb, just my thoughts!

The Ben Nevis loop is a pain in the backside! far too many walkers when i tried it , just kept bumping into them, i gave up and headed back to base!

Yep, the corrour route, there are a couple of ways to do this, MBR did it as get off train at Spean bridge cycle from there to Corriechoille Farm, then onto Lairig Leacach Bothy, then onto Creaguaineach Lodge, then Corrour Station and then took the train back.

It was featured in March 2007, and has a map included. I have a copy but its mine!! sorry! someone else might have a spare. I rode this last year and its an amazing route taking in some great scenery, also hoping to be riding this myself next week!! im leaving brum to fort bill in 3 days!!

While im up there will be taking in Laggan Woftrax, Witches Trail and Red DH at Ben Nevis, can't wait!

FSA, the budget headset which delivers better than the more expensive ones! thats what my LBS told me, i have one fitted to my P7 and another in the post for my other bike.

My biking other, is a short 5ft2 ish and uses my Trek Fuel ex7, but she occasionally complains it too small, trek used to do a WSD versiosn in the smaller sizes.

The cafe is great, the red/black combined trail is good too, but like others have said its more like a BMX track its very over man made! i really hate the last bit climbing back up, and it seems so flat after with very little variation but up until the end of the black or red its a good trail for honing skills etc.

It is a bit crap, i mean 4 years in a row now its rained during my holiday, this year ive moved my weeks a little as the weather seemed better when i went back to work, so im hoping it will be nice in 2 weeks time, if not i will have to go aboard at chrimbo!

Being from Birmingham ive never rode any of the boarder trail centers, i really should at some point seeing as every year i drive past them!

Ive taken a trip to Fort William for the last 3 years, the mrs wanted a beach holiday this year but she failed to save the cash so its scotland again!! yippee! we are staying in Spean Bridge so its bikable from there, hoping to get there at 10am and spend a day! and yep would agree the north shore looks a bit dicey in the wet!

Ive ordered some knee pads, as i had a faceplant about 8 weeks ago, serious concussion and a broken tooth, 14 stitches in my face, so mrs has said pads or no biking!!

I set mine up with a set of RS Revs dual air, 140mm. After trying a bike out at cycle surgery running at 120mm and everything seemed ok, so i thought an extra 20mm wouldn't be an issue!

I thought wrong, the bike is just far too big for me, so im currently getting the forks lowered down to 125mm, which should be perfect for me.

Its worth popping to an Orange stockist and try some different fork travels etc until you find the one which is right for you.

Im heading there next weekend, its an annual trip, is the Red DH do-able on a 100mm full bouncer?? and is it as much fun as it looks?

I normally spend a full day at laggan on the fun park, is the red downhill a better way to spend the day?

Really looking forward to a week in fort bill!
