Its a bit odd but i quite enjoyed that climb you know its coming its there at the start, just low gear and pedal up. Never found it too difficult what does catch me out everytime is the shitbag hill at cannock, every week a blast through the monkey then back to the dog and im always worn out, and they say cannock is flat eh?!

OH has a canyon nerve xc female specific one, nothing wrong with it at all. As it was a direct buy and saved a fair few quid, after delivery dropped it into my LBS for a once over as they will spot more things than me, came back clean bill of health, £1.5k for a bike £50 for LBS time, full XT groupset, Fox shocks, great looking bike, still a bargain!

Would buy from canyon again and again, most LBS will be more than happy to give a bike the once over.

The 7 mile blue route has some red off shoots and is a great blast, the 3 mile is the old fodca trail rebuilt into a proper red, but not rode it yet. The new downhill trail looked more fun but wasn’t open last time i was there.

Heading there tomorrow as well, taking my brother for a blast, he hasn’t been on his bike for while, new born at home and all that.

Whats the 3 mile one like?? the 7 mile trail was just awesome a couple of weeks back.

Im heading that way, sadly don’t know my way round only been once before, its fairly easy to find your way round, sign posting is better than most trail centres. Once you find the start that is….

Get the feeling the honeymoon period is over and tbh still love the ride from the speshi, today was the first time in a while ive been biking with mates and while i normally lag behind the others especially on the climbs the speshi just leaps up them. The guys joked we need to get a king of the mountains jersey just out paced them. I still lack confidence in the downhill bits, but the speshi just feels a much better bike. Obv in wet muddy conditions that may change.

I have a back collection of old bike bits as well, none of it is transferable to the new speshi except the rev forks i have which i have spaced down to 125mm, might clean it all up and sell some bits. You can only have so many bikes eh?

Need to sit on the bike, and see how it feels, reach standover etc ethier or both might not quite fit.

I struggled with mine for ages, took it into the lbs, turned out the plastic gromits that fit in where the cable is exposed where cheap rubbish and they needed replacing, after that all was good!

Normally i don’t bother with proper biking clothing but got some altura shorts a while back, great fit, then went for the altura bamboo tops, yesterday ordered one of the new style raceface tops. Got more biking kit than normal clothes at the moment!

OH’s bike arrived, out the box it looks odd, raw alu not sure if i like it or not.

Set up the bike, all good, quick blast round the block, feels nice suspension is plush and smooth, hopefully get a blast round the trails at some point.

I can’t use contacts so this is the best i can do, and tbh im glad i got the transitions lenses, means i can use them anyday of the week, plus if i see any cheap half jackets at the airport i can just bang my lenses directly in.

Those with oakleys which colour lenses do you have?? my old oakleys i used to have the gold iridium, used to do the trick all the time, only reason i didn’t this time was cost i just couldn’t afford a clear lense and coloured at the moment.

Well i caved in, popped to vision express this morning, ordered some Oakley Half Jackets with transition lenses, £195 with my discount as i brought some prescription glasses a month ago. Should have them in a couple of days. Will order some different coloured lenses next month for them.

Older Trek fuel ex’s run at 100mm great bikes and soak up the trails really well, but would second/third the giant anthem great bikes.

I currently ride a speshi camber, and to copy the above comments its awesome on dh parts of the trails.

My employer doesn’t do it, hhmmm tesco one of the biggest employers in the country don’t do cycle to work, as much as i push my ptm and group ptm not enough people want it.

Even argued the wiggins effect and nothing.

Done it twice this year both times on my Orange P7 no problems, just take some spare brake pads just in case! great ride imo.

I struggle to put them in, once i got used to them i had an eye infection (i know MTFU) and was recommended not to use them again. TBH i hate my glasses, use them for driving and have to use them late in the day as my eyes get tired, i avoid wearing them at work but should wear them more often.

Would prefer contacts as i can get some normal sunglasses cheap enough when i go on holidays!

Ive got a pair of Oakley C-Wires had them 4/5 years, trying to get them repaired is a pain in the backside, got them from vision express but the store i got them from don’t do oakleys anymore even though my normal glasses are oakley frames and lenses. Have to go to another store to see if i can get them repaired.

Would highly recommend getting proper glasses for biking.

I saw a couple with arms in slings as i was leaving, thought the ambulance was for them, that downhill on the blue route is a great piece of trail so can see why there would be accidents.

I had a Raleigh Max overized, red, alivio groupset, grip shifts. At the time was super light and envy of all my mates. Even got it from halfords and everything stayed on it in one piece and it worked. Sadly stolen after 2 months.

If i remember right, the mini series was the pilot which is 2 hrs long on the blu-ray just condensed down into smaller chunks.

I picked up BSG last year, its slow really slow but once it gets proper going its a great series, loved it that much instead of waiting for lovefilm i just went and picked up the box set. Some the storylines are the usual stuff from most american tv and others just grab you, if you can get half way into the season 1 then you will probably be gripped.

Ive done the old, rubber band around the brake levers, and left them overnight, actually i forgot about them until 10 mins ago and all is good!! Although i still have a bent brake lever, but can live with that.

I couldn’t test ride the expert, they only had a comp in my size, tbh i almost brought the comp over the expert but i weighed up the upgrades etc and the expert for me is the way to go.

I ride cannock alot, which is fairly flat but due to my age and braking bumps always end up with back ache towards the end of the ride, with the speshi nothing no aches or anything, was a complete first for me in a long time.

Going back to the question, i can recommend the speshi camber expert, got mine a month ago in the sales awesome bike! only have 2 snags with mine, one is the brake bleed it was awful, saying that its been back twice to the lbs and is still no better, keep being told thats avids for you! and the second thing is the brakes again. The one lever is mis-shaped and still arguing with the LBS over a replacement they claim its functional but its clearly bent.

Other than that its an awsome bike, climbs really well and downhill its just amazing but thats compared to my previous bike.

Other bikes worth looking at is the Canyon Nerve XC range, almost about to order a female specific for my OH they seem great value, if a little too good to be true, if the OH one comes through ok, will be going for 29er before christmas!

Been looking at the canyon for my other half, female specific bikes are expensive, but when you look at the canyon, £1400 ish for a full xt spec full sus with fox shocks, seems bargain of the year!

Will be ordering one as soon as i get my pay cheque this month.

Saw this thread on Bikeradar a couple of weeks back. Speshi’s odd choice but im sure market leading made me go out and buy the Campber Expert in the sales i was going to wait for a 2013 model but as no 26″ went for the 2012.

Best decision ive made in ages, its a great bike! as for next year well someone had to do it.

We all got issued work phones a while ago, non-smart phone was a bit of a shocker, its a Nokia C1 i think it is, very basic call and txt, battery lasts a week. It gets thrown around the warehouse at work and across floors etc, still as good as new.

Shocking phone but the company paid for the sim card, its got 3 different numbers, an internal network number 4 digit code, a mobile number for whenout and about and somehow a landline number as well, so the phone cost £5 and the sim card £90!
