I miss my last car, daft as it sounds an 05 citroen C2 VTR, had the car from new, 7 and a half years had to trade it for something grown up. I miss those paddles and xbox style driving, tempted to buy it back from the dealer!

Ive given away about 10 tubes in the last 6 month, always happy to help a fellow cyclist out. I do get odd looks when i offer to help stopping on the trails etc..

I like to think someone would help me out, and tbh when i was stuck at afan a couple of riders did help me out when i split a rear tyre, and had already used my spare tube. Put it down to karma, its good to help another and on the trails sometimes you get a free cake at the end of the trail.

I do like the look of the trek, but no new bikes this year!

As for the 3rd bike, hhmmm 69ers back?? now that might convince me to get a new bike this year.

I run this on my camber at the moment, a 2.3 purg and a 2.2 ground control on the back, works well at trail centers, coedy, fod and cannock see no reason to change yet.

Without going too much into it, oh has issues medications etc…been advised not to go down that route while on meds, everytime she tries to come off meds, the worse case happens so looks very unlikely. Both of us in our mid to late 30’s.

Things are ok, its just the missing piece.

Haven’t got any, would like to, but its looking very unlikely as the years go by.

Can let you have it for a couple of bottles of magners! brought by mistake, wanted a way to carry the bike in the car, but got a towbar/rack instead. Its like new, never used.

I got my OH a female specific Nerve xc last summer, £1700 for 120mm Fox’s upfront and rear bounce, DT swiss rims and hubs, full xt gearing groupset and Formula 1 brakes, not sure on the brakes. But she loves it, the bike is a perfect fit and has got her back out on the trails. Im not keen on the finish its raw alu but she likes it. Can’t fault canyons service, guess the weak link is UPS.

Saying that ive just ordered a Roadlite 6.0SL for myself, had the confirmation email today should have the bike by next tuesday, its my first venture into a proper road bike, looking at the spec its looks ok and just praying that the fit system works as well for me as it did for my OH’s bike.

Im not too far from there, will keep an eye out. Might be worth letting the lbs’s know in the area in case it turns up for a service.

Road biking, i picked up some team gb football tops towards the end of the london 2012, a base layer underneath they do the job perfectly. On the trails, wiggle had last years Altura tops in the sales at christmas so picked up 3. Thats enough for tis year.

Rocketdog, what route did you take??

Me i did a road ride, solihull to earlswoood then on to redditch, visit family then back again about 35ish miles not too bad on a hybrid, thinking of a bigger ride tomorrow.

3 day weekend ftw!! Sunday-tuesday for me :)

I rode this back in 2010, on a trek fuel ex7, the old skool one whith 100mm travel front and rear. its still up there as my all time favourite ride. I did feel under shocked at some points but tbh was a great blast, wasn’t quite finished at the end but can’t wait to go back.

I currently ride 30/40 miles on the hybrid, normally days off when i can’t get to the trails, would be nice to nip down the canals or head into local woods for a diversion but still have some speed on the roads. Will have a look at the pinnacle, have an evans local to me.

Latest copy of mbr, they have a test on budget Hardtails and some have 26″ wheels, must be a new wheel size i haven’t heard of.

I also paid over the odds for some Oakley Half jackets, transition lenses, and tbh they are the best biking glasses ive ever had, can’t fault them. Even brought some cheap ones at the airport when going on hols, ditched the plain lenses and pushed my perscription ones in, i can co-ordinate different coloured frames.

I mentioned above, if your local to birmingham or can pick up i have the below:

Its just frame and fork and front chainset and mech, seatpost and seat. After £250 the frame is really light and the forks are reba’s running at 80mm travel, could be built into a nice runner.

Picture shows when i last had the bike fully built.

Got my OH a Giant XTC EX back in 2006 i think it was, 80mm travel really light frame, she didn’t join me biking that often but when she did she loved it. Upgraded to a canyon nerve w specific and she gets out on the bike a bit more now.

I do have the giant still, well frame, forks and gearing, 16″ frame if your after something second hand to build up, birmingham based.

Well the bigger supermarkets have been teasing and dipping there toes in the water, recently tesco took over its own banking business (previously ran by HBOS i think) i wouldn’t be surprised if we start to see tesco:bank and js:bank on the highstreet after lloylds offloads all the unwanted branches.

I think its partly time of year etc… i struggled to sell my P7 for ages, ended up letting it go for a massive loss, but i needed the space so it had to go.

I put mine on ebay for the absolute min i would let it go for, got a few offers and sold it that day.

For once i disagree, i had a play on a speshi carve the other day, only a carpark ride more for sizing, im a 5ft5 so short arse and tbh bike felt perfect just needed wider bars lol!

I think with better frame designs we could have 29ers for all!

OH has the older nerve a 2012 120mm travel version, she loves it, far too small for me to ride, had a little blast over the rocks at cyb. Feels like a well built bike, canyons biggest fault is communication but if all is well there is very little to worry about.

Going to give it a month and i will be ordering one of there road bikes, as the value beats the downside anyday.

£12 to post a nintendo 3ds i had ebayed off, twice the amount i was quoted 2 weeks ago before popping it on ebay, and £3 for my hope bar end plugs and £3 for my hope qr skewers.

I think my ebay days are pretty much done now, its just not worth it.

Side wall of rear tyre at the highest point of the wall at afan, not impressed, hole too big to patch with cable ties, and rendered tyre useless! long walk back.

It is offically closed, but yep you could ride it, ruining all the hard work the volunteers do to keep the trails running for us. Some people forget cannock isn’t funded that much, yes it has sponsorship but it relies on volunteers to maintain and repair the trails, if there is snow etc causing the trail to degrade. Long term means sections will be closed then the moaning is why is half of ftd or monkey closed again, well we know why.

I use cycleguard, as my home insurer wouldn’t cover the bikes, tbh my home insurance is heavily discounted so cheaper to do it this way, although next year will see if i can get a better deal.

Mine have been great, but ive only used the for med or small framed bikes, and occassionally a mates cannodale in large never had a problem.

Had Trek fuel ex’s, cannodale jekyll, canyon nerve, all full bouncers no problems.

Only reason im selling mine is due to new car has a glass roof and been recommended not to use roof bars on this one. Didn’t do my car research propery! :(

When i px’ed mine the other week, i just went round family friends, cups of tea, lunch then when i had used the fuel and seen everyone i wanted to for at least the next month dropped the car off no fuel. Pleased everyone, surely no one is that tight they have to suck the fuel out.

Had 3 in the knee a few years back, hurt like hell had to take a day or two off work after, which defeated the point of having it. Lasted about 3 to 6 months last shot latest the longest at 6 months.

Ended up been told physio to get me through until a surgery date was set, that was 4 years ago. If you get any physio do it is my advice, i will need surgery at some point but tbh ive been trouble free for 2 years. Funny thing is when i don’t go biking i tend to have a bad knee spell, so its my excuse for that new speshi!!

Thanks, i need a solution that won’t mark the paintwork of the car, looks more and more likely i will be fitting a towbar, expensive way to transfer the bikes!

Ive said before ive got th 2012 expert, and can’t fault it climbs well, handles the downhill superbly, usually i find faults with my bikes and upgrades but this is still bike shop specced, its a great bike, i can also vouch for the canyon as oh has a nerve xc and thats equally amazing on the trails.

Normally I would agree, but I’ve trashed my current car, bikes on roof couple of dents where mates have dropped there bikes forward, and having them in the car I’ve scratched and damaged the interior trim, went for a trade in yesterday and got peanuts for my car, so really have to try and look after the new one, so it’s tow bar or bike bags, and thinking about security at home at least the bikes won’t be on display going to and from the flat
