We have 2 canyons at home, i currently have a road canyon still fairly unique as around where i live i haven’t seen another canyon on the roads. There are a few bike clubs and still not seen another canyon. OH has a Canyon Nerve 9.0w i think it is, full xt groupset, fox front and rear shocks we paid £1640 give or take for a bike thats better specc’ed than my Speshi Camber Expert. Its a great bike a bit small for me but it feels so much better than what we paid for it.

    Things to watch for:

    1. There size calculator, fill it in as accurately as you can, both bikes we got fit us spot on out the box,but get this wrong and ive heard of stories where its gone belly up.

    2. If your paying by credit card, warn you card holder first as often paying a German bike company flags up an issue and payment is withheld, we had this on the first canyon we ordered, the second time i called up the credit card company to give them the heads up.

    3. Track UPS as it will turn up quicker than expected once in the country, both our bikes turned up 48hrs after despatch from Germany. Much quicker than i expeced.

    4. Ride the bike and enjoy it!! I will be swapping my Speshi for a new Canyon 650b this summer, can’t wait to place my order.

On the main beach front at Costa Tequise there is a british couple they hire out Cubes, offered a tour but ride at own risk as usual biking so not offical, but took in some great parts of the island was like a mates ride round cannock some banter and really made my holiday a few years back.

Last year i stayed at Playa Blanca so hired a road bike through the hotel i was staying in, theu sourced me a top spec specialized road bike cost was 50e for the week, road biking once away from the main towns was just brilliant took in some great views of the south of the island and some great climbs and downhills on smooth tarmac roads.

Going again end of novemeber and have the bike sorted, just remember to take your lid, camelbak, shoes and pedals if you want a particular setup.

Thats nice, do like the s-works speshi’s, would love a speshi road bike just the price put me off, maybe once the canyon falls apart, but won’t be for a while!

If your birmingham based ive got a usb/ipod connectivity headunit, £50 its yours, i took it out my last car when changing but due to new car having all the electrics fed through the stereo its no good to me now. Its a sony, has bluetooth for wireless telephone calls, its a couple of years old but still fully functional.

The Alu isn’t harsh on the roads i ride, town roads and then country lanes, carbon forks up front are relaxed and do a great job.

I really can’t fault it, i brought the bike then spent the rest of my budget on some biking kit, lights, clothing etc… when i need to change the bike, i will be going canyon again.

One thing i will say is trust the size calculator and fill it in exactly, the calculator stated i needed an xs which surprised me, but i thought i could always send it back. Bike arrived, i flipped the stem and its a perfect fit, i mean spot on. My OH has a canyon MTB and thats the same spot on fit.

Only 1 reason, the Alu road bikes are cheaper and just as good imho, i have a roadlite Alu and its an amazing bike for the money and still fairly unique on the roads.

I got stopped by the police yesterday and had a chat the officer hadn’t seen a canyon before just wanted a chat, he seemed impressed with the spec, guessing he might be a biker.

He has no new contract, he is riding his best every ride, he has nothing else left after the Vuelta so fair play to him, i really hope he is a. clean and b. wins it.

Comes across as a likeable guy in the post race interviews. The biggest thing it gives us mid-30’s hope we can continue to keep up with our mates into our early 40’s!

Ive got a fair bit of rapha kit nothing at the high end though, well not yet.

The socks are great they work like socks :) merino is great quality for socks.

Ive got one of the urban merino tops which is great for mtb’ing and i have a couple of commerative t’s which are great value and i may have a team sky polo shirt.

Only problem i find is now i have some rapha kit i want more and the more i get the more the OH tells me off, as she knows exactly how much it cost.

Only thing i disagree with is the postage £5 if its under £100 order they should just go free for all orders.

Currently have 2 canyons in my bike shed.

I have the Roadlite Alu Sl, had this bike since may an hasn’t dropped a beat, great road bike i use it day to day for training rides and more leisurely rides with friends. Can’t fault the quality and tbh it still hasn’t needed a first service which is remarkable i thought i would be tinkering with gears/brakes by now but nothing.

Other canyon is a Nerve and its a great piece of kit. Again as above its just worked out the box and does the job.

First one i ordered i had a few issues with Barclay Card there excuse was its for a large purchase in germany blah blah, eventually got them to pay canyon. The second time i called barclay card first and told them i was purchasing a bike from germany, they held open a 4 week window for a large purchase so second time went through ok, neither canyons issues.

I just want her to enjoy biking as much as i do, and i know what its like climbing and hating it, been there when i first started. After a big off at Laggan it dented any confidence and she avoided biking. Slowly beginning to put biking back on the agenda and get her out when we can.

When out on the bike she loves it, the blue at CYB we did that loop 4 times over and over, FOD the new blue route she loved that. Ive avoided going back to cannock as its not the same beast it once was, we went to glentress about 3 months ago and yep the natural red and the blue was great, we have a week up there soon just wanted us both to take in more of the trails. If its not to be then its not to be, im glad ive got an OH that will go biking with me and understands those wiggle parcels are essential :)

Lol no she isn’t on massive downhill bike, she has a very nice much better spec’ed bike than mine, it’s one of those she loves being out on the bike once out, it’s the getting out thing that’s the key. When we go on holiday no problem, just days off, weekends always too busy.

Im heading to Glentress in the next few weeks, taking the OH so stopping at Craiguart, can’t recommend them enough and the breakfast is spot on, and yep those wigwams are very expensive for what they are.

Canyon Roadlite, even the sl with the sram apex is a great piece of kit.

I can highly recommend the Roadlite SL as thats what i currently ride, hasn’t let me down and tbh the direct approach worked well for me.

Find an independant garage, i had quotes of £300 – £400 for my citroen, found a small little garage in perry barr birmingham, fitted plus a single electric came to £185, done while i wait took an hour.

They removed a bar just behind my bumper, slotted a new bar straight in with the tow bar attachement job done. Took longer to fit a cut out switch for the electrics.

Highly recommend the guys above if your birmingham based.

I won’t use wiggle anymore, previously it was royal mail and most the time the parcel turned up the next day. I know royal mail have changed charges etc but the new courier is a joke.

First order of some tubes and shorts, turned up after 10 days. Then i got a sorry you were out card when i was in, in fact the card was on the ground floor of the flat and i live on the 3rd only spotted it by chance.

Second order was some tyres, now this time i was out but my neighbour offered to take it in, but was refused by the courier.

Its a pity i like wiggle but this courier needs to be sorted.

Tend to work 5 days out of 7, shifts from 7-6 or 11-8 or 1-11 no real pattern, except i have sunday as a day off most weeks, if i do work sunday its classed as overtime.

This week im Monday 10-8, tues d/o, wed 1-11, thurs 7-6, fri 1-11, sat 9-6ish and sun off, contracted to 36hrs per week but as you can see scheduled more but no pay for those additional hours, its all a bit crap.

Neither are backwards compatable, but sony does have its cloud gaming platform which will enable you to re-buy ps3 titles and run them emulated some point in the future and MS are saying they will eventually do the same for xbox classics.

Xbox One has been such a mess of corporate rubbish and turnarounds its difficult to trust anything they say at the moment.

Ive been an xbox user since the first sku and this time round im going PS4, reasons for this are one the power adaptor is in the console so no brick behind the tele, the ps4 will run PS Plus out the box if you have a subscription (which i do) PS Vita Crossplay is massive, i can be playing fifa and at a push of a button stream it to my Vita while the OH watches some rubbish. MS is all about the tv service and it hides Lovefilm, Netflix etc behind the wall that is xbox gold, while Sony have this in the front menu regardless of which level you may subscribe to.

TBH its a tough call this time round, but PS4 just edges it for me.

My roadie has got steel rims, for the braking surface, but has mavic aksium wheels and matching tyres. Eventually got the tyre off at the road side, but it appears warped now ive refitted it.

Might pop into my local evans see if they have anything.

I run candys on my road bike and my mtb, i use speshi bg shoes for the road bike and the storm trooper shimano on the mtb. Using the same cleats on all shoes means i can swap and change and tbh ive got good use out of my candys. If it works then why change.

It’s got some big titles this Christmas which will spurn sales, and Nintendo always sell big there own stuff, mario kart is coming and a new mario bro’s, it’s still over priced compared to others and won’t run frostbite which is why ea pulled the plug, they did say they have something in the mix for wii u, time will tell

Can’t recommend enough 2 mins from the trails, friendly place to stay, breakfast is great quality. A couple of miles walk into the main town for an evening meal, nothing to fault. We stayed there 8 weeks ago, it was that good we booked up for september.
