In the post, well when i say in the post its been ordered but has a delay seems canyon have no small frames, seriously debating to cancel the order and go for the boardman pro, might hang on a few weeks yet.

Already have the new pedals/saddle and a SLX double chainset, just waiting for the bike. Tempted to get some cheap deore’s brakes when they come round as im sure the avids will fail me at some point.

    Yep has some great games:

    Mario 3d world
    Pikmin 3
Donkey Kong: Tropical freeze, its tough in places but a great game!

And coming soon Mario Kart, might be a trend of mario games there, other games which are good and can be found cheap are Batman: AA its a great conversion, i don’t have any others yet. I do use the wii u more than the ps4 (yep early adopter getting shafted!!)

After some debating, and the fact none of my lbs local to me, including some well known chains had none of the above in stock let alone a small framed 29er, I went with my head and ordered a Grand Canyon 29er. Worse case I can transplant all the parts to a different frame in the future, 4 week waiting time but I have faith in canyon!!

I went for the higher end one in the end, thinking would only change the brakes at some point.

Yep I have a 26er camber expert, I’m after a 29er hardtail for chucking on the train after work quick blast somewhere, keep the camber for proper days out, I did have an orange p7 for a few years but after something a little lighter.

I know that feeling. When I first got the Camber I had a steel Kona Blink but got fed up with a ht SO much heavier than the fs.

I sold the Kona to a friend that had been asking for me to part with it for ages.

But I found the Camber wanted to do more than the general xc duties, so the Carve joined it. The 29er even has some bar ends on it.

Have you done much to the Camber?

All the best with whatever you end up with.

Only thing i changed on the Camber was the brakes, now run SLX which are great stoppers, the gearing is perfect for me.

A secondhand trek would be perfect, but not many around at the moment.

Needs to be a small frame as a shorty!

Would love a Cotic, but can’t justify that sort of price, and its not cheap anymore to build your own bike. Ideally hoping to keep costs to £1k at the most, i know the speshi above is higher but can potentially get that discounted.

I picked up an EOS M, i know its had some iffy reviews but its a mini dslr in most aspects its better than my last dslr. Great little camera, much better than my compact and takes some great pictures without too much faffing around with settings it does have detailed menu’s and if thats your thing you can change any setting you want.

Thought the Armstrong poster was funny, probably laughed a little too much. Other than that one, pretty much expected outcome.

Always wanted an enduro, think it was the 2009 model the last one before the x-frames started, problem is would never use the travel. Currently have a camber expert 26″ does everything i need biking wise. The colour is a bit meh but might get it re-sprayed at some point.

Problem with last nights topgear is that my OH wants to go to Chernobyl.

There seems to be a bit more tv coverage of the area recently, river monsters with jeremy wade filmed a show there, top gear and some science thing the OH was watching the other week. Guessing its open season for film crews at the moment over there.

I had elixir 5’s and ditched them for the newest SLX great price and even better stoppers, i did get them before the deores got discounted, otherwise i would of got the deores.

Easy to trim to the hoses, and easy to bleed, just get the shimano adaptor if you run bigger disc’s, i used the avid one and it was lousy. Fitted the proper shimano one this morning and perfect brakes now.

Yep, its a great little console. I got mine before christmas with Zelda: Wind waker, yes its a remaker but that game is a classic just awesome to play. Super Mario 3d world is a gem to play and ive yet to try Pikmin 3 and New Super Mario Bro’s. Some great titles coming up if your a nintendo fan Donkey Kong and Mario Kart.

I know its a dying console but if you like nintendo in house stuff its worth its weight in gold, nintendo may have dropped its share price but it has a massive war chest from past success and will be around for 2 more generations of gaming, they can afford to keep going.

Had to use 4 washers on the bottom, as the shimano screw is too short and avid one too long, but yep that covers the disc better.

Shimano rotors on the shopping list!

Will admit, i try to shy away from these sort of things, but had a go paid £3.50 for a tube cutter from the DIY shop, and had a go.

Front one proved tricky lost a bit of oil not too much but a little, couldn’t quite get the cable back into the lever and thought damn ive knackered it. Tried again and locked the bolt and all good! only snag is i didn’t cut the hose short enough took 2″ off but needs another 2″.

Back one i did in less than 5 mins, had a quick test ride, front one judders a little but im sure thats the pads bedding in as my avids did that all the time.

Off to order another olive and barb so i can re-do the front one, but im happy thats another thing i don’t have to get the LBS to do.

Now to tackle the BB30 bottom bracket!

Ordeded some jagwire hydro hose cutters, £10 from amazon not too bad, going to give it a go at trimming the hoses before my day off, rather than off to the LBS. Hoping i can get the job done myself.

Had a look online, want to make sure ive got it right, so i put the lever in horizontal position so the lever is basically flat, i pull the plastic cover down the cable, release the cable, trim down to fit, put a new olive and barb in the new end and re-attach.

    That should be it??

    LMT

How easy is it to trim the hoses on these?? do they need a full bleed or can they just be disconected and chopped?

Cheers, but i was in that morning, i even buzzed him into the block of flats.

Problem is since we got a new postie no one gets parcels, its always a red card.

I don’t mean any offence if your a postie as all previous ones have been spot on, just our current one.

Ordered a set of brakes on sunday, tuesday morning i got the red card from the can’t be bothered to deliver parcel postie, its not funny anymore!!

So went to main sorting office, picked up the parcel when i opened found the extra pads i ordered missing, email to merlin less than an hour later an email back and a confirmation that replacement pads in the post and looking at tracking i should get them tomorrow.

I can’t ask for better service after something had gone wrong.

Ive always had great service from merlin, once my xt shifters went missing in the post, they replaced without question.

Had some white rimmed deore wheels from them a couple of years back, completely bombproof they stayed true throughout all the punishment i gave them.

Currently im testing there customer service again, an order arrived today but 1 item is missing from the order, awaiting response.

Ive only had french cars, and tbh never had a problem with them at all.

    106 died after a crash
106 gti, traded in for a
206 xsi then jumped over to citroen
    C2 VTR which i had for 7 years, didn’t miss a beat
Current car is the new shape C3 a bit of an odd car, but great commuter and bike carrier with added towbar.

Next car, in a couple of years will be ethier a DS4 or C4 depending on cost mileage and what i can see when its time to change.

Thule Euroway G2, as i only ever carry 2 bikes previously on the roof so thought why would i change now i have a towbar.

Rear lights work as lights should and the clip in for my reg plate is really handy.

One thing i really like is the tilt function i can still access the boot with the bikes on the back. Also whenever i stopped at services going to and from scotland last summer got the quite a few requests of what make is that and does it restrict getting in/out the boot, which was surprising.

I did have one negative when taking my med and oh small bikes no problem, but now and then i pick a mate up and he has a larger framed cannondale, he has to adjust his suspension down to 120mm from 160mm as its a bit tight trying to fit the bike on the back.

Far too often, tend to go on the a biking hol with the OH she has the realisation that after one go at a trail its too difficult and doesn’t like it. So ive rode wolftrax, Witches Trails (fort william), Nevis Red (immense fun!!), Glentress, Afan (all trails!) and regularly Cannock.

Great fun blasting round trails, only problem is i always have in the back of my mind i just hope i don’t have an accident. Especially as some days i never see another biker on the trails at all.

As rocketdog said above, craiguart is a great place to stay. We stayed there last year twice and wouldn’t hesistate going back, breakfast is great, rooms clean and tidy and did i mention breakfast is great?

Only one thing we found if in the room under im guessing its there living area, the floor is wood and sometimes can be a little nosy if your a light sleeper.

Fort William we stayed at burnbank lodges self catering, right next to the trails as you can ride into fortwilliam via the forest trails.

Someone beat me to it, but yep she has got a bit of a lazy eye. Its not noticable on countdown but fairly in your face in TGS as they do those one shot modelling of the gadget and presenter.

Was looking at the SLX and Deore to replace my dodgy Elixir 5’s, damn seized up again!!

Everywhere i read sayes they have easy to adjust cable length? but none say how? anyone know how? as the ones ive seen come in 1000mm and 1700mm which are about 200mm too long in both fronts!

I had a sensordrive system for the last 8 years, first time i tried to pull away from the curb it wouldn’t go, until the realised i had my left foot on the brake thinking it was the clutch, hense the smell of burning brakes.

Using the paddles in manual was just like playing the xbox, but general driving no real difference.

Went back to a manual now my knee has sorted itself out.

Saloons sell really well across Europe, no idea why us brits hate them so much. I saw a new Citroen C-Eylsee when I was in lanzarote a couple of weeks ago. Looked like a c4 with a boot and slight makeover. Nice to drive and loads of space for a bike in the boot. Citroen won’t release it over here as they know it won’t sell. But it has sold well in China, and its loebs new car for WTCC next year, although his may have a better spec!!

Not sure if your west-midlands based? but I have a Nikon D70s, 2 lenses 18mm-55mm and 35mm-70mm. It works well takes some great pictures, has a couple of faults but they haven’t effected me over the last few years.

First fault is the pop up flash doesn’t work, never has tbh.

Second fault is the digital screen while you can see your picture fine, sometimes when you play back a set of pictures it flashes up dark lumps. These don’t effect the picture when you transfer across to the laptop.

Only reason for letting it go this ive brought a micro dslr which suits me better for taking on hols.

Not after much for it, would take a reasonable offer. I was going to ebay it with a starting bid at £10 to see what it would make.

Its an old safeway poilcy that they used to have, so morrisons take over safeway and slowly all the old idea’s are coming back.

Its like a certain supermarket now has scan and shop, safeway had this back in 2000, the same certain supermarket is launching digital shelf edge labels, and yep safeway had this in some stores. Its just recycling old idea’s as they clearly have no new ones, but its a good call to bring this one back.

Ive got 2 merino wool tops, one a cheaper DHB from wiggle and it does the job, the other a rapha one, much prefer the rapha but both do the same job. The rapha fits better so its the first one i go for.

Rapha long sleeve merino and then a mtb jersey over the top, if its colder layer up with an enduro jacket.

Ran 591’s on the roof of the car for 7 years, just left them on, never heard anything from them. Even in extreme winds nothing, only issues i had and tbh wasnt really an issue was when the car was standing and it rained used to get a river of water down the windscreen when i moved the car, other than that nothing they did the job perfectly.

Awesome build! reminds me of the guy that built his house out of wood in the early series. Just an epic build, pity its not finished, but saying that £1.1m for the older house?? really??

Teletubby land at its best, once finished it will be epic, one of those very unique grand designs.
