I do what I can, gears, brakes, got some newer shimano one’s which are a doddle to bleed and set up. I need the tools for when my BB30 goes but until then im good for most things. I really need a shed or garage to tinker in, the spare bedroom isn’t big enough in a flat for bike tinkering.

Got burnt from an LBS which is highly rated and was very disappointed, took my speshi in for the brakes to be bled as I knew there was a problem. 2 weeks later in Glentress the rear brake locked up completely went to the on site bike shop as I didn’t take my tools with me for this job and its a bit of a trek back to Solihull, friendly place they offered to sort it there and then, asked when I had them bled last told them, they laughed and showed me the quality of the fluid against what should of been in there, obviously hadn’t been bled.

I use an EOS M, sort of a baby DSLR. Takes some great pictures, small enough for the camelbak and has plenty of settings to play around with just like a dslr.

Its a tough shout between this and the Nikon 1, both very similar camera’s.

Dig round ebay etc should serve up a cheap one, the eos m im sure has been discontinued but still has a some new firmare updates and accessories available for it.

Would never get a 360 second hand, the failure rate is stupidly high, if you shop around ive seen the 360 new for £100 and a game chucked in, the asda black Friday deal was great 2 new games and a 360 for £100 that was yesterday only.

The deore’s arrived from ribble not too bad, a bit annoyed as no olives or hose inserts to let me trim the hoses so had to go the lbs to pick some of those up.

I was surprised that none locally to me had any to sell, had to go further a field as I wanted to sort this out today.

I was very honest with my landlord and ive agreed to repaint the hallway before I move out as it is a bit scuffed, tbh I don’t think he realised howmany bikes I had until he popped round.

The only thing I do is keep them out of sight when he comes round to work as he brings mates from work to do projects like the bathroom needed repainting a few months back and the gas boiler and system needed a service. I tuck them away in the bedroom and shut the door.

He knows about the bikes, I haven’t told him that my oh has hamsters, no pets in the original contract that ran out 4 years ago!!!

I run a 15″ canyon 29er hardtail and tbh its great, flickable and flies through the rock features at Cannock. Second best bike ive ever had, all about the size and fit. I was lucky the fit from canyon was spot on.

I was tempted to talk about the differences about 26-650b-29ers but im pretty sure that won’t interest anyone, even if they where mtb’ers!

Gap for me, ether bootcut or easy as they call them, only place that do decent jeans in a short fit. Always buy a couple of pairs in the sale do the job.

If it was the one that posted dodgy profits? then what should of happened is at the customer service desk there is a online system they use to log incidents like this, and they give you a print out with a reference number then head to your insurers as the money will come from the supermarkets insurance dept, the stores have barely any money for paid outs and this sort of thing would go through the insurance.

The liability posters are in case another customer dings the cars or runs there trolley into your car, it doesn’t apply for the staff, did the trolley lad have a trolley strap as its a must do for one supermarket and the max amount of trollies is 8 iirc. I would request the CCTV footage is kept from the store and possibly another witness? just to cement the case.

I would call there customer care line and get the incident logged and add the poor customer service from the store at the time, take photo’s etc…

If your just using the tube, you can get a cheaper tube pass from the train station, I got one for about £7 a few months back, after half 9 can use it all day, worked for me last time and its all zones which was great to go a bit further afield.

I had a few treks over the years, would happily have another if I hadn’t discovered canyon. Value for money mtb’ing has taken over a bit, if I had the cash I wouldn’t hesitate to get one of the new fuel ex’s or a proper road bike from a trek dealer.

The only bug bear is you have to go to the bike shop to buy the bike and sometimes the nearest dealer is miles away, other than that can’t think of a reason why I wouldn’t or you shouldn’t.

Some LBS’s are great I have one near me that I often buy stuff from while others not so great and sometimes you wonder why?

I was out at a certain FC trail center, I don’t carry my cone spanners with me but had some wobble in the wheel, hand tightened this lasted a couple of miles. Popped into the Bike shop at the trail head asked if they could tighten and howmuch did they want? empty shop 3 staff all having a cuppa answer was nah sorry fully booked, eh? to get 2 spanners and tighten, 60 seconds work? I noticed they had a customer tool box, I asked if they had a spanner in the box, the reply was yep unless its been stolen go for it. Needless to say there was no cone spanner in the box.

I headed into Rugeley which was nearby and the LBS was more than happy to help, if I made him a cuppa while he tightened the cones, job done. In the past ive brought trail snacks and post ride tea’s, spare helmet and brake pads etc… from the trail head LBS, but after that day haven’t been in there since. Good service helps drive business.

Sonic still rides, last time I used facebook he is biking somewhere, all about the zaskars still! He did have a spell writing for WhatMTB not sure if he still does as haven’t got that mag for years. Him and Nick seem fairly sound enough, not sure about the other mods, only pop over now and then to look at the canyon thread.

Looking at the canyon it’s a 48 up front and possibly 32 at the back, explains why I struggled to gain speed. Had a look on Planet X the hybrid is 50 up front 11-28 out back going to give that a blast today see how I get on. Might get a smaller cassette for the canyon.

My road bike rattled for ages couldn’t pin it down, until one day I popped my pump in my jersey pocket instead of the frame attachment as I had had multiple punctures, rattling stopped.

Sometimes its the simple things, no longer attach the pump to the frame.

If it was dodgy credit cards im not sure how they would get the bikes, canyon have upped there security around this. I ordered a my last canyon in April and my card was rejected, I had to call my bank to get them to release the funds and then email canyon to request they try again.

I can only speak from my experience but is possibly a stray canyon container that’s been stolen and then distributed across the UK. Hope its not too big a problem to stop canyon shipping to the UK in the future as I have a trio of great bikes, was hoping to upgrade the road one next year to a CF canyon.

Lanzarote is quite nice and still warm right up to December, I tend to go away last week November and its still shorts weather.

Tourist wise I went to playa blanca last 2 years and it was touristy bars/clubs/gift shops etc, but if you walk far enough away from the resort it can be really nice just open beaches and nothing around.

Im off to Costa Teguise this year again a bit touristy but great for bus links and travel to the north of the island.

Cycling? the roads are immense a vast difference between our roads and there’s its lovely smooth tarmac, just be careful as last year they where re-routing I took a turn and turned out to be a dead end, another roundabout turn went from a double lane to a single without any signs had a near miss with a coach or 2 that didn’t notice the lane change.

Lol at this thread, my OH is the same, useless with a mobile phone, often find it wedged down the sofa with the last bleep of battery life. I can txt her Monday and she will reply Thursday if im lucky. But god forbid if I don’t answer her straight away even though she knows I have a work phone so don’t carry my own mobile.

    Must be a woman thing….

I forgot to add, the other thing is she has to have the latest iphone every year, last year I asked her why? you don’t use it. The reply I got was hhhmmpp

    Hora, no offence taken.

I worked for safeway when that went belly up, the problem is if Tesco went belly up the one thing we all forget it’s the second biggest employer in the uk after the nhs. If/when things go south it pretty much effects everyone in the country. Have to hope that deadly dave as he has been tagged talks to the customers, staff and only after that the shareholders and not the other way round and maybe he can turn it round.

An interesting thread, I work for Tesco as a dept mgr.

The downfall, will agree with dot.com it just destroys the shop you can see the one’s without dot.com when you walk in as all of a sudden they have stock on the shelves.

The issues which Dave needs to deal with, competitors we ignored the discounters at our peril, customers want Aldi, lidl and the return to the UK of Netto.

Our stores are tired and old even the new ones, we are so tight on the sales floor for staff we don’t have time to be helpful as we always for 10 cages to work to get the stock to the shelf. We have too many pink and fluffy managers I could name 3 job roles which we just don’t need in the shop. Would much better to put the cash spend back into the right departments to be able to offer great service.

Get rid of the staff that can’t be arsed to even try to deliver service, some customers want to be talked to and some don’t if you can’t tell the difference should you really be working in this job role.

The biggest issue is the saturation of shops, its bloody stupid in the 3 miles from the store I work at we have 1 superstore, 2 extra stores and then another 8 express stores. There is also 3 Morrisons (ex safeways stores), 4 Sainsburys and 2 Asda’s. Its bloody stupid, no wonder no one makes any money and the shops are quiet. To make it worse a new Asda is opening up 4 miles away!! why!!!

Tesco could do so much to boost sales and regain the customers, some of the multi-channel stuff is good, blinxbox, Tesco direct, but do we need Giraffe and that coffee shop chain? not really and even that Gardening chain we own was purchased at a loss.

Terry knew when to leave as he could see it happening. The stores are having a restructure pretty much the same as asda a line of management being taken out, but my view is its the wrong management line.

Dave did his vision yesterday at the NEC for all the store managers so guessing we will find out whats going on soon enough.

I wouldn’t get the first party ford one, would get an one of the garages that just do tow bars to fit one. Yes you don’t get all the approved fitted eco engine bits but you will save money and a good fitter will do what they did with mine and fitted a fuse before it linked into the cars electrics so if the tow bar flips out it won’t effect the car.

    I paid £175 from:

    http://www.towbarservicesbirmingham.co.uk/

I booked it in the day before they had the parts and it was fitted while I waited, they did a top job just under an hour and haven’t had an issue since.

I drive a new shape C3 and we all know how bad French electrics can be, but not had a single problem since ive had the tow bar fitted.

I run a thule 2 bike carrier, with its own in built lights and place for the reg plate.

Ps I had mine fitted 2 years ago, if the rules have changed then ignore me.

If its a cyclescheme voucher they can change it to another lbs for you.

I intially got mine for tredz but they didn’t have the bike I ordered in stock which was surprising as they are advertising 2015 bikes for sale and then not available until December, cheers tredz for that.

Anyway I just emailed cyclescheme with the code for planetx and within 24 hours the voucher was changed, mine was an e-voucher, might take a bit longer for the paper one they may request it back,

The one at Glentress? I thought that was ok, was a year since I was up there, and I found the food was better in the week the weekend it wasn’t great.

The one at afan? I remember the old café at the base of the skyline used to be awesome, haven’t been since they lost the tender and the bike shop downstairs got it, not heard anything good about it since then.

Llandegla awesome café, was hoping to be tucking into a burger or two after a ride today, but no matter how much noise I make the OH is stll fast asleep in bed, looks like no road trip to wales today.

Personally I can’t stand Hamilton, comes across as an arrogant spoilt brat, nico on the other hand seems a nice enough guy, fair play to him today racing incident. Lewis was never going to let him pass so a little unintentional contact got the job done.

I have the odd canyon or 2 ok 3. My hardtail is the grand canyon 6.9 and its a great bike to ride fun to blast down the trails it climbs well and is my go to bike for a blast, have one of there road bikes as well and that’s not let me down. Did a 95mile charity ride a month ago and it was faultless.

OH has a nerve women specific, and its a world apart from her previous bike.

All in all great bikes, customer service has been fine with me, I know others have had issues. Would I buy another yes without hesitation.
