Another thumbs up for the Cannondale 24″ range. I’ve got two girls and find that they go better on a lighter setup without suspension. As soon as the trail goes up the lighter the better. Qwerty Cycles Have the 2020 Range of Kids bikes https://qwertycycles.co.uk/collections/kids-bikes Cujo 24″ is great if you want something more rugged, and the Quick 24″ are on par with IslaBikes.

More over it depends on the top cap you are using. C’dale offer two which are compatible with the carbon steerers and one for alloy steerers

I’ve had a very bad stomach this week and still got it. Did not eat at the area. There was a lot of sheep and other poop on the field decent. Also the stream rose quite a bit which could have any type of nasties from the moors in it. I Get docs test back on Monday….should add, I’ve done loads of events through the years but as ever, regardless of how my stomach feels and how wet it was. 24/12 is still the best endurance mtb event.?

Hi Guys, Really sorry for the verrrry slow response to emails sometimes, as you probably know we are only a relatively small outfit trying to help with the ever hard task of getting Cannondale spares. (New and Old) Since we set up 6 years ago we have pretty much single handedly sold all C’dale UK stock and are constantly trying to get hold of more. Stock used to come from Europe but now it comes from Taiwan so stock flow is harder to predict. We get emails from all over the world which can take a while to translate, I know its no excuse but translating “If I stand on one leg and hit it with a lump hammer will it work?” from Greek to English takes time. (Google Translate is not good at bike parts) 🙁

If you do replace the bearings yourself remember that the cap is opposite thread. 🙂

If doing Solo, think about your contact points. Swapping out gloves can relieve tired hands, Swapping shoes and socks can work wonders on sore feet, Swapping to a spare bike can revive tired leg muscles, if you don’t have a full bike to swap to take a second pre marked seatpost (with saddle) to give your numb butt a change of scenery.

If doing teams make sure you have a good old fashioned clock hanging in your pits to help keep track of lap times so you can arrive in the pits on time.

For both teams and solo, food and drink is key, doing 24hr events plays havoc with your eating patterns. Best advise here is to take a large variety of food from custard creams through to sausages take as much of a variety as you can. Tyres are another good this to take plenty of as weather and riding conditions can change a lot in 24hrs. Above all else smile and enjoy it. 🙂

If makes 50% sense, unlimited mud clearance but a down side of notbeing able to swap wheels as quick. But if you are using it as an everyday bike mending punctures is made easy as you don’t need to remove the wheel. What about one of these? Click here

    Back on track………

Pros: 1. Very light weight, 2. Very low unsprung weight making them very responsive, 3. Very easy to reach and use the lock out, 4. Stiff as a mother, 5. No faffing to remove a wheel to change a puncture on cold wet winters morning./Fast puncture change in races, 6. The most mud clearance on any fork, 7. Look cool!!

Cons: 1. Perceived as being expensive but what Carbon fork is cheap? 2. 5mm allen key wheel removal, not as quick as a quick release when putting in the back of the car, 3. One or two “Cannondale” specific tools needed for a service others are standard tools.

I’ve done a couple of t4 and t5 conversions, I used the bitumen flashing on the first followed by the butyl alternative on the second. Butyl came out on top for me. However neither are as good as dynamat, but if you do two layers it gets close. Butyl nicer to work with and is less susceptible to go hard in the winter and soft in the summer.

I ride a Large Flash 29er Carbon and have 33″ inside leg at 6′-1″
Large will fit just fine. I ride/race it with a -5 Deg 90mm Stem.
Try and swing a leg over one before buying to put your mind at ease.

Hi Smorgie, If you wish to run a 1-1/8″ headset on your bike all you will need is one of these Click here
It sits directly into the headshock headset cups to reduce it down to 1-1/8″ other options are available but we (Qwerty Cycles)find that this is the tidiest. In stock and you get 10% as you are a STW member. Just use STW10 in the very final checkout window.

To replace the cartridge would set you back £160, as for servicing we are obliged to recommend FT Tuned as they are the official UK C’dale service center. Sorry we can’t help on this front.

just incase you did not see the update on the WMM site:

We want to let you know in advance that we have made provision for a special trackside camping area exclusively for solo riders, alongside the solo tent we provide for you. You are very welcome to pitch your own tents there too and set up camp. However, what you cannot do is park your car there. Your car can be parked a matter of yards away in another special area reserved for soloists. You can also camp there alongside your car if you prefer.

This area will be signed, but it is the area nearest the track alongside Campsite B.

You will not be able to run full length outer on the front mech as you don’t have a stop for the outer.
You could Try the short outer option, but for the sake of a couple of quid you may as well bite the bullet.

This one is the correct one for your bike. Click Here

Best tip with BB30 is to not buy cheap bearings off ebay, especially not chrome ones they last 5 mins. Get some good quality SKF (or Similar) stainless steel Bearings. As for creaking and improving the life of the bearings make sure to smear the inner face of the bearing with a good quality grease, especially if you do not have a fully enclosed carbon BB shell. The bearings in my Carbon Scalpel typically last around 6-9 months of racing.

Hi MidlandTrailquestGraham, Lloyd From Qwerty Cycles here, Thanks for the order.

Do you mean the plastic washer on the OPI steerer Head that the BB tool screws tight? If so this is included with the steerer its self. There is also one under the stem. 🙂

Hi Simon, The KF101 Shock Mounts should be back in stock at QwertyCycles.co.uk week starting 12th Nov. If you do choose to wait to buy from us don’t forget your STW10 discount code. Hope this helps a little. lloyd@qwertycycles

Lloyd from QwertyCycles.co.uk here, Lefty 4 All steerers due back in stock early next week. Use STW10 to get 10% off your next purchase.

If you are looking at getting a Lefty 4 All steerer make sure your Lefty will take one, on some of the older Leftys you can not remove the steertube. They are actually riveted to the lower crown. If in any doubt post a picture.

On top of all the comments above, a couple of other points worth mentioning about the Lefty Fork: It has one of the lowest “Unspung Masses” on any fork, supreme tracking and my favourite thing which really helped me out at this years Mountain Mayhem is the Mud clearance!!! NO other fork gets this much clearance. 🙂

MonkeyBoyic, what are the trails like there today? The pictures you took suggested that they were dry? can you suggest why the reduction to 4hrs is needed?

I’ve responded to the email that Paul Newman sent through to riders, asking why the reduction in time? no response yet.

No logic at all as far as I can see, if conditions are a problem why keep the full 12hrs for today when there are also far more riders riding?

I’m going to stop local and boycot the Bikefest, fingers crossed I will get my refund on the race entry.

Not there myself but looking at the pictures in the Bikefest pictures thread, all the riders are clean as a whistle? Is it really that bad?

You are correct in the fact that you do not need a lot for a 4hr ride, food, some clothes to wear before the event and somewhere to store it to put back on after the race. It is the fact that it is now 4hr that annoys me more. Would the MountainMayhem knock off a couple of hours because it was muddy??

They are recommending parking away from the event village too and riding to the event. Great if like me you are doing the 6hr (sorry 4hr) solo and have to carry all that you need?????????????

If you email info@qwertycycles.co.uk you can ask for a 10% off code. 😀

Other than great performance, the two best things about the Lefty fork for me is mud clearance and the fact you don’t need to take the wheel out to change a tube when punctured!!(great when you are racing or out in the cold)

You should really have the circlips in the bb shell otherwise the bearings may move in the shell.
I got my last bb30 bearings from http://www.qwertycycles.co.uk seem to be ok

Which bike is it? Is the stem a 1.5″or 1-1/8″? Is it a Cannondale? If it is might be worth checking out these guys. http://www.qwertycycles.co.uk UK based website for Cannondale spare parts. They have a couple of headsets on there which might fit the bill.

I have the Gobi on all of my bikes, did JOGLE on one last year and was very comfortable throughout. i would say the older Gobi circa 2008 were the best for durability but the new ones are not too bad. just go with the kevlar thigh glides and it should last well.

I’ve been using them for a while now, used to use elete electrolyte but always ended up putting too much in and made water taste like sea water.
Zero taste nice,(orange and cherry my fav) are easy to use and seem to work for me. (CRC marathons, 24hr racing etc) just check instructions for how many tabs per bottle. Some use 1 some use 2. (caffeine berry flavour are two tabs)
