Thank you – I can’t see my daughter bombing down a black route anytime soon, so it’s about finding a compromise and this is what attracted me to them. Thanks for confirming.

I would still consider the Roku express over the now TV stick, as Roku will allow now TV, plus Amazon, Netflix and a whole lot more.

Wind it back a bit – how have you broke your analogue aerial??
Unless you’ve cut the wire in some unreachable place it should be an easy fix.

If it’s a case of nackering the socket/base that the aerial screws in to, these can be easily replaced. It usually one bolt and one wire to replace the base hidden under a blanking plate / light in the roof. Just get right part off eBay and find the correct YouTube video

Being a commuter I’m often buying cheap consumables to either stash away as Spares, or because I need something quick and it’s what in stock, with next day delivery. I’m often finding myself quite impressed by stuff I actually thought would be naff.

For example life line tubes, clarkes chains, silverline tools, jagwire cables, Noah and Theo pads. Etc

Now Chinese stuff (wish, Alibaba, dx) – theres a gamble, occasional surprises, mixed with utter crap and fakery ahoy!!

Seconded for the Pinnacle Neon, as I have Neon 3 (2018) and it’s been great on my similar distance commute. Not exciting enough for the local scrotes.

However – Strava says my old 29 rigid inbred on big apples was faster, until the frame snapped.

    Any cycle to work scheme??

1 – 1.5 hour drive to the nearest trail kills it when time poor. As 2 hours out the door road cycling is far more convenient. Choice of route is important, as normal commute route can be a battle, but quiet country roads still mean you are often on your guard, but can be fun for the majority of the time.

Alexnharvey – that’s exactly what the wife said. The back pain is likely to keep me off the bike for a week (so on the bus), as I have a torn jacket, mashed pedal and handle bar grip, it’s going to cost.

At least hitting her, I would have had someone to push the bill too.

Police does seem pointless as I have no evidence or reg. Hence the sudden camera want.

But hey ho, the survival instinct kicks in and grabbing the breaks seemed to be the natural thing to do!

I cycle 6 days a week, swapping use between my commuting hybrid and my two road bikes. So as little faff as possible is my prefence.

Ill have a look at the cycliq fly.

    Thank you

There used to be a bloke in Rutland who used to sell on-one seconds on eBay – golf something.

Had problems with him after he miss advertised a wheelset.

Used to sell a lot of damaged frames.

I regularly cycle near to Bruntingthorpe and you see truck load after truck load of 1-3 year old white SUV clones arriving for auction.

This was also reflected when car hunting for both myself and the outlaws, with the current sweet point seeming to be 1-3 year old SUVs, all from the multitude of car supermarkets. In fact the outlaws saved over 10k on list, for a fully loaded Korean SUV at 9 months old.

Great for the outlaws, but needing a small – medium sized petrol second car and a seven seater, again in petrol both used was near impossible to find.

Do wonder what will happen as these SUVs filter down the chain.

I get the whole researching a new car need, but where is your sense of adventure. This is a family wagon, just pop down you local car supermarket (motorpoint et Al), jump in some cars, see what suits and drive off in a couple of hours.
If after your holiday you’ve not jelled, px it against something else.

Tweet the video, tagging in a couple of online cycle mags such as road.cc, cycle safety groups and your local police force with the polices decision not to prosecute. It might get them to reconsider. But beware, you may attract comments from the loons.

We’ve just done something similar in the last 2 weeks. We went from smax to transit double cab in van. We went for the limited as you got more toys and the double rear doors were essential. We went SWB over LWB, but that was our preference, as we wanted something that could still fit a standard parking space easily, but the compromise is front wheel off, but have already 3 adult and 2 kids bikes in the back. so far very impressed and far cheaper than an equivalent aged galaxy.

Put off by VW by the VW tax, mainly single rear door, lack of bulk head and an equivalent VW to ours was 8-9k more expensive 2nd hand, but we think we have got a non-vat bargain.

Vauxhall / Renault traffic seemed to lack refinement, but was very tempted at one point by the new Berlingo / combi-life LWB. But wife didn’t like the gearstick placement.

The Nissan nv200 was very nice – but nothing on the 2nd hand market. Mazda i800 worth a look.

My only advice is that dealers seem to struggle with non-vat vans, so may be worth a gaggle.

Watch out for the ampage, some newer oven require a higher ampage, and this then needs a higher amp fuse on the consumer unit.
Most suppliers charge a nominal fee for fitting or an electrician could do the dangerous bit for a small cost.

admit you’ve made a mistake and return it. Buy a decent second hand 14″ bike like a frog or isla and a pack of batman stickers

This, he’s 3, take him to a bike shop, sit him on any bike and he’ll want it. Kids are fickle, take control or the next couple of years will be expensive.

Plus the vitus 14 ltd is quite a handsome little bike, if you want new.

I also have a Pinnacle Neon, but the 3 instead of the 4, which is Sora over Tiagra. But for my 8 mile commute has been perfect.

Also look at the PlanetX London Road thread, as they can be picked up for around your budget.

While I’m at it, a new XS/13 Inbred 27.5 frame with rigid forks (100 and 142) that I could stick 26 wheels

This!!  A nice simple frame that will take 26 and 27.5 wheels / tyres would be a dream.  Use up old 26 stock, small enough to bridge the gap between 24 and 27 and fairly future proof!

If they want to diversify go after the kids market and make ‘cheap’ light kids bikes, maybe more road / mtb orientated than the current hybrids or maybe try  ebike market *runs and hides*

The best addition I’ve had for commuting is the moon aerolite helmet light.  The ability to turn my head and direct the beam has prevented a couple of ‘ creepers’ pulling out on me at junctions.

Which tyres have you got on 40-406 or 47-406?  The narrower will drop the bike, but only by a small amount.

Don’t know derby too well and in a tradition of not answers the question asked, but could you park at a park and ride and cycle in??? Either a folder in the boot or an old beater left at the station and use sustains routes 6 and 54.  Google says 3.5 miles from pride park.

Watching with interest, daughter is 10 and suddenly looks lanky on her 24in bike. Usual suspects from Frog, Halfords / Wiggins, Dawes all about £300 and just not sure worth it, if looking to upgrade to an adult bike in near future.  27.5 makes the jump harder as she’s small and was struggling on most we’ve tried but Cube seemed to be best for reach / stand over. Not much on 2nd hand at this size.

New Dacia sandero + extended warranty – the non body coloured bumpers, wont show the inevitable car park scrapes, the warranty will probably outlast her and being elderly she won’t hear the interior trim rattling.
