See them at the end – totally wasted. They really worked for that, both sides. You don’t see that in Football.

England progressing but bet it is not so easy against Scotland. If England had got another win then it would have been wide open, what if what if what if

France great one match, shyte the next

I quite liked the Dredd film. It was entertaining enough. Lots of characters. Megacity could have looked bigger but Stalone was much better than I expected. It was never going to match e.g. the first Batman movie. It’s only a comic after all :)

I’m warming to Lineker a bit after last night. He came accross genuinely touched at the end. I still hope Ming wins it. The ‘other one’ needs to do something amazing. BUT THEN you only know what they show you so anything could happen

he nearly made it too. 1800km and goes down 50k from shore.

they are not all old – e.g. like it or not, Jay Z last year, but you generally have to have been around a while to fill an arena the size of the pyramid. Loads of unmanufactured acts at glasto.

We’re doing something different this year for a change. But we will be back.

Yes it is expensive. If you think £170 is alot I have to pay for missus llama and one of the (not so) little llamas too. Yes it is middle class. Yes its corporate (seemed less so last year). Yes the main stage headliners can be a bit past it. BUTif you were really there back in the day* then it will always be something special.

*when this was depends on the person of course

No so sure, last year’s winner messed up the ‘critics test’ (at least thats how they edited it)

Yes they have Andy coming over too smug. Is it because he is (son of) Gary Lineker?

Since you are talking about cwmcarn. I’ve ridden there on everything from rigid to 8 inches front and back. Ti, steel ally. Night and day. Snow and Sun.

17t ones have different bearings which are more reliable. Or that is what I’ve been told, no direct experience. Anyway I run 17/32

Now 2 winters of no service and still seems OK. Pretty well used, solo races, through above hub level water a couple of times, that sort of thing.

I think you would have to get a highish end freehub to match it for reliability, e.g. hope or xt.

basic revolver SS hub + WI freewheel is about £120

regular hope rear hub plus a cog and spacers is about £140

Not much to choose if starting from blank but as you already have a wheel, I say get one.

You can easily get that sort of stuff as long as you can collect it. If you have a van or a big roof rack you can take your pick. I recently got rid of 2 perfectly good sofas, the chap did me a favour by taking them. I would have struggled to do anything else with them.

You do not have to offer in order to take – you can do nothing but take.

Don’t know if ‘fitted’ shoes make a difference or not but I would not chance it

Having started recently I would echo the comments above regarding starting slow. You are probably plenty fit enough but have odd biker legs. I went out for 20 minutes and was not really sweating when I got back. I couldn’t bloody walk for 2 weeks afterwards. Now I’m starting again with 30 min sessions of more walking than running.

The best one was the other week where 1 guy cut his thumb off and another made ‘the worst dish we have ever had’ which was basicly boiled spuds.

The bald one makes me laugh. He just can’t believe his luck in getting this gig can he? I can’t wait to taste that one! Have you been talking to my mum? Yum Yum! etc etc

Its a struggle to get my 14 yo daughter out but these things help:

    – Don’t bother if its wet and/or cold
    – Only go to interesting places to ride without much road
    – Small hills and/or uplift
    – Bribery

So basicly, all the normal beginer things with the addition of the bribery.

Which is a shame because she is actually quite fast if she wants to be. Last year we went family biking in the Alps and she zoomed up a couple of 300m climbs no problem, but would not be too keen back here at all.

Done it loads of times. I can now do a room, return the hardware, and put on the first coat of varnish in a single day.

    Here are my tips:

Don’t worry too much about nails unless they are really sticking up.

Go diagonally first with the roughest grade until the boards are flat. Then along the grain with finer and finer grade.

Go evenly. Cover the whole area before going back over a bit. And let the machine drop gently or you will be left with a nice groove.

It best to do the edges at the same time. If you leave the edges until last you will notice that the edge 6 inches are much higher than the rest. This makes it harder to do the edge. HOWEVER if there is only one of you I would not bother – leave all the edging to last.

Empty the bags before they get too full and you will not get too much dust in the air.

Don’t worry too much about all the bits you can’t do e.g. corners. Just try as best you can with a detail sander. When it is varnished and furnisher you will not notice.

I’ve done this twice in this house

The first time I chipped away with a chisel then sanded the boards underneath. Took a long time. A very long time.

The second time I pulled up the boards and replaced them with new. Much quicker. Of course, only going to help if it is on boards.

If the lino is very well stuck down then tile over it.

Similar position here. My advice based on recent experience is to take it VERY VERY VERY easy to start with. So easy you think you are not doing anything. For example, alternating between running and walking and not for too long.

I did not do this and I’ve been limping around with a sore knee for a week. And I thought I was taking it easy, this was after just a 20 minute run. Yes I’ve had shoes properly fitted and all that. The trouble is I’m OK fitness wise from cycling, well Ok enough to run for 20 minutes without a raising the heart rate too much, but my legs are just not right for running.
