Yes what you say is true, point is that when I ride mine, people call it a gravel bike. I usually just say yes it is.

+1 MTB from 1990 except the bikes work better and don’t keep breaking

AND it reduces the stupid macho image associated with riding off road. Dude.

You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons

Pull out bench bed. Or bench either side with a table/centre slat. Both easy ply projects.

But the problem is you won’t want to put mucky bikes in your nice camping van

200 extra on top of a swift, for 853, and made in Europe, it’s not awful.

It does make the Holt look good value.

I’m doing the etape. Looked at accommodation in Nice. Can confirm, is expensive. London kind of prices.

Nice in July is never going to be cheap, all those fancy hotels on the sea front are there for a reason.

But if you are going to watch the tour don’t forget you get a stage start, a climactic itt, and a cool town to walk around. You don’t often get that.

Take this advice with a pinc of salt as I have failed despite trying fairly hard for the last X years. This year I did some reading, and this is the summary:

Get in a group and get organised as above

Try for coach tickets, you get 2 chances then

When you are on the ‘you are in a queue’ page with the countdown, you can refresh, but there is a limit to the rate you can do it. It might be session based, based so while having a few tabs open is OK, having a million is pointless.

Likewise there are rumours of source IP limiting so having loads and loads of devices on your home WiFi will not necessarily help. You need to spread it about a bit eg some on a VPN or phone network.

Don’t give up. Last year I gave up after they tweeted ‘gone’ but they were still selling

Complain that it’s not the same as it used to be

Here is a thought for you. Let’s say that it could do it, or at least appear to, how could you be certain the result is correct? Solving that kind of stuff is the trick, not translating syntax.

It’s easier to put the legs on before the top layer, and you need quite a lot of legs.

Top tip I saw on YouTube: cut the bottom layer to width while still in the packaging/roll, use a bread knife or fine toothed saw

    Storage

So our self converted LWB + poptop is enough for 2 adults + 2 dogs for long trips in all weather. We do store stuff outside when we camp like dog stuff in a plastic crate and chairs + bbq etc.

With storage it’s not necessarily LWB vs SWB but how well thought out it is. You see LWB with less storage than SWB. Ours has taken a few iterations and refinements to get optimal with a place for everything with some thought about cupboards, shelves, and the like. This is where converters who do their own stuff that they refined over time, rather than flatpack are good.

    Poptop

We got fitted later after using a couple of year without, which is something to consider if you cannot find the perfect van now. They are fine, don’t leak, some driving noise but hey, it’s a van full of camping stuff so not quiet. A high roof would also be fine. Both give more storage, and unless you are 5 foot tall, you need the headroom. We did without for a while, but without we needed an awning for anything more than a weekend

    Awning

Used a drive away awning. The convenience of a van but with the drawbacks of a tent. So why not just get a tent. It just ends up being a place to put all your crap that you didn’t need to bring. Plus it blocks a window, camp somewhere with a lovely view? well now you can only see out of one side.

However, the answer to making vegetables tasty turns out to be pretty simple: cheese.

    Is a good solution

One really easy tip for more veg flavour:

    An Oven

get those crispy dark bits. You can roast most veg. Plus you can easily add extra flavouring eg chilli, cumin, coriander, garlic

    Another easy tip:

Mash – the reason it is nice is because you add loads of nice stuff (fat so butter, cream, cheese, oil). Anything that is remotely potato like will work.

I don’t eat enough veg and honestly don’t like the taste of them

You don’t like _any_ vegetable dish?

So instead you want ultra processed green powder?

    Singletrack. £25 / year.

I saved more than that this morning on the stw->exposure discount

And will be saving more than that again on discounting an upcoming garmin purchase

The ‘fancy’ one is the one that is made from expensive pipes in Italy

On the other hand, that’s a lot of carbon wireless bling on the Vitus, a similarly speced bokeh would be ££££££

    Wouldn’t worry about press fit.

Support from Vitus OK but not as good as Mason.

Riding faster/smooth gravel would not put me off the Bokeh, Mason will fit tyres/wheels for that if you ask.

Enable wsl and have him work in a Linux instance. It’s what 75% of our devs do. It’s works better for python. VSCode still gives you a gui.

I found learning to code as an academic exercise a bit tricky mostly because there wasn’t a goal

    That++

If you have a goal then it forces you to problem solve. Without it’s all exercise, useful but it’s so much better with your own nut to crack.

Freewheels are all shit and when they do decide to go, which is after a short time period, they go at the most embarrassing pull away from the traffic lights moment. APART from the WI one, which doesn’t do any of that.

It’s not too low unless you actually do hit the rim right?

Or else too much weight on your hands
