I need to try a trance, anthem, ams and spearfish / horse thief near notts.

The Trance looks great but not loving some of the specs and frame only has a shock I’m not too keen on.

Lovin the salsa and orbea, would buy a canyon but need finance

Those orbea bikes look just the ticket and the spec too!

I have obviously heard of them on the road but know nothing MTB wise.

Who stocks these and has anyone else tried or owned one?

Thanks doug for the heads up and the great review

Sherwood Pines is fast, fun (when rode quick), easily accessed for all (does not need specific / bad ass bikes)and a great way to ride with all abilities (newbies and Danny Harts).

It is not the peaks or Scotland – granted but quite good fun.

Try the Red and the Blue as a good XC run out and if it is too tame for you get over to the bike park and run some down hills and over the wood work.

Take it out, clean and regrease.

However, check the tension on your spokes, all of them.

I like to run my tyres at 40psi,which I know seems high, but I’m fat and feel like I am running on my rims with lunch less :-)

    Well…

I love my stereo as a jack of all trades bike. It is me which is the limiting factor of this bike.

It is a longer travel trail bike which can do a bit if DH and XC.

I regularly use it for trail centres and a 30 mile round trip to the local trails. It’s a big bike for pure XC but perfectly capable if you have the legs – a 100mm carbon xc bike it aint. But a 40lb DH bike it also aint!

Try one you might like it. Check out the vid’s the 1250 lads at frodsham do.

Don’t pay any attention to the reviews on the mickey mouse mags – dirt 100 for the past few years – nuff said

No one needs a reverb. They are expensive, can break (apparently)……

Until you drop your post for the first time jump / hop higher than you have ever done before, raise it to prefect xc height and blast off!

    makes it such a hoot

Have a word with the guys @ 1250[/url]

They are only in Frodsham and give good advice, they love the Stereo they do!

I however am the proud owner of a 2011 team, which is the first expensive bike I have ever had. i use it therefore for everything! because I have to, i regularly use it for 30 mile xc runs – not as quick as the xc wippets but hey, and also use it for jumps and drops at trail centres.

Some of the mickey mouse MTB mags swing with their reviews 3/5 one month and then 9/10 on the long term review.

Dirt however have had this bike in the Dirt 100 for 2 – 3 years.

If you want a capeable, slack fun bike – try it you might like it.

Most people have not rode a stereo. If you can try one, they are fantastic.

Horses for courses. You might also argue that SPDs force you to commit. When bailing isn’t an option, as Yoda says “Do, or do not, there is no try.”

True, did my first drop off on SPD’s, bottled it every time on flats!

how do you cheat with them, do they have motors in them?

Pull straight up with arms and legs :(

are you new to the sport or just geting back in to it…

New to the sport since May 2010 with a cycle to work bike then bought a proper bike may 2011.

Let’s just pretend for a minute that you are not a TROLL and are asking a serious question. Riding flat pedals doesn’t teach you how to ride properly, they teach you where to place your feet when riding flat pedals. Don’t DMR vaults cost £89.99? May I suggest that if you want to “LEARN” how to ride properly you keep the SPDs and spend the money on a days course with a reputable MTB instructor who will teach you how to ride properly on the kit you have?

DEFINITELY not a troll, very serious question. I am 34 and am trying to teach myself to be better but using various books etc. I have thought about spending my hard earned with Jedi / G Rock etc, but did not want to waste half the day from scratch!

I went over to SPD’s about 3 months ago thinking that I was doing the right thing to progress my riding but being a bit of a keyboard rider I ride the flow of the forum (week one SPD’s next week Flats).

I do like my SPD’s but can not help but cheat with them. Went out on the V12’s the other day and low and behold I could hop, not high but I could. Thought better pedals and shoes would help and speed up my greatness :).

Sorry about the ramblings, this is where I am at!

    I have a 2011 Stereo team.

    Full XT, RP23 and Revs.

The 23 is great, XT v’s SLX is little or no difference.

The Revs are a great fork and require less servicing.

Try and pick up a 2011 model if available
