    Compression damage, squishing the frame.

there has been numerous posts about Carbon frames receiving “wrong” type of forces.

    Just asking – sorry

I hate riding with elite riders who very unfortunately have become mute for the time they are at a trail centre.

I do feel sorry for them. It must be hard to express your intentions without a voice. The only way to make your intentions known is to race up someone’s arse, try to force an error and over take in an appropriate manner to finish 20 seconds before you.

Poor people. Share a thought for those who suffer from trail muteness.

I however loudly and politely express my intentions which nearly always makes them go the wrong way, but at least they move!

I had the same issue until I adjusted the cable tension

    Thanks for all your responses.

I couldn’t see where my bike was specially heavy – it isn’t obviously.

I think I will continue with the personal weight loss and swap for lighter when bits break.

    Cheers

@ drapper. This is the main point I’ve gone from 21st to 15. Carry a shed load of liquid and probably too many tools.

Just wondered if I was missing something? Apparently not. Sounds like I could spend a grand to loose 2lb but me and my pack can loose this during a ride after drinking / weeing!

Wow. I thought that mine was light. Apparently 23lb with pedals. Not weighed it though.

It feels like a feather compared to my old full sus.

    :-) @ njee20

I went through somthing similar by buying a “cool” bike mag friendly 150mm full suss.

2 years on I have a Scott Scale 29er “XC Race” bike for my riding duties which involve riding Cross Country on Trails (see what I did there).

Don’t get too hung up on bikes like I did, your Cube will be fine on most stuff, just don’t try 12 ft doubles and 10ft hucks.

    Cheers guys,
    house is always tidy
Robs are doing fine in the mud,
not got a muddy pic cleaned it straight after
    it’s a 17″ frame
    Yes I’m a short arse 5’9

Had similar choice of bikes to you.

Didn’t like the kit on the whyte, the cube was lovely, but wanted the slt. There was none!

Went on a Scott demo day and got a scale 920. Couldn’t be happier.

All day – yes, huckable – no it’s an xc bike

    Cheers

Scott, but try a 29er scale before you push the button.

My LBS are struggling to sell 26 Scotts and 29 Scotts have nearly sold out – judge from that what you will.

    Cheers

5’9, 29″ inside leg on the medium. Was actually debating the large in the shop. But once I demo’d the med I bought one.

I suggest the med might be too small.

Oh yeah and Sherwood Pines Cycling Club racers are buying these and 930’s.

They seemed to know what they were doing!

I have just picked up a 920, there are no 910 mediums left period!

Not sure about the competitive weight but…

the 920 is 500g heavier than than the 910. I could not work out where until you read that a 920 comes with 500g pedals the 910 does not come with pedals!!!

My LBS “suggested” that the difference between 910 and 920 wheels are a sticker! Not sure how true this is but, strager things have happened.

As there was no 910’s the LBS have swapped the SLX stuff for XT for £70. the only difference now is the Evo forks v’s the Factory forks, which has saved me £500, truth be known I dont think that I could tell the difference and the CTD Evos are fine (I think so anyway).

Finishing kit, stem = right length, bar = right width, post keeps saddle at right height – CHECK!

Love this new bike, the matt finish is great too.

Spring is coming, the ground is getting firmer, we are getting fitter.

Time to get out with some mates and ride like your a teenager, not a dad (which I like being) with a shit job and a chuff off mortgage.

    Riding bikes is effing great!!!

    Good on ya !!!

Its not as muddy as the Pines, but has lots more puddles.

Should be able to do both well under 3 hours even if you are a bloater like me and like to stop for breaks and a natter.

Under 2 if your a bit of whippet.

If you are a pines rider, be prepared that this is alot harder and alot more climbs.

Not really flowy, but has lots of good features not present at SP to hone your skills on.

    Cheers

Frame material is making life hard,

Carbon worries me – cracking and impact damage
Ti is too expensive – is this still a frame for life too?
Al is so last year :-) – a bit to harsh?
Steel rusts – chips and scrapes = rusty ride?

    ?

Keppy that’s the cube I’m looking at, what’s your thoughts.

What sort of stuff will it handle?

The sc does appeal to the have you seen the make of my bike! In me :D

I have looked at the yelli and the fireline, but seem too specialised for my first 29, not really after a hardcore or play bike.

Would like and canyon but the al seems too cheap and the cf too expensive, there seems to be a big gap.

Just as a wild card, what are your thoughts of a solaris or ff29 in stead of a full sus?

    Anyone got a ff29
