Decathlon merino baselayer? I’m not much taller than your wife and mine is pretty good.

Quite a few places sell these… but in case you see one and think it might work, don’t waste your money it doesn’t.

    /useless post.

Got the light I ordered from Deal Extreme today, does the light change from Green to Red when the charger has finished charging the battery? At the minute there seems to be only 2-3v on the battery terminals, if it is still charging on green how long does it typically take?

Mine always came already charged… so it goes from red to green when it’s done. Are you sure it needs charged?

Yeah, intolerant. Perhaps you need to hear the interview with him that was on the tv earlier to get it, but I’d say it’s a fair comment to make about the man.

This is what the fuss is about.

They had two votes on whether to have prayers at council meetings, both results were in favour but some intolerant old man decided that since he wasn’t getting his way that he would kick up a fuss until he did.

Your logic is ok, but it’s not a sport

If the OP gets away with angling as a sport then golf counts too!

Golf. Lots of fat old men play so I’m guessing there will be plenty of heart attacks.

I need a shopping trip to a big city.

Good luck even then! Bike shops just don’t seem to stock the female specific full sus bikes, and if they do it’s one model and they only have it in the larger sizes… which is just great if you’re looking for female specific bikes because you’re so short!

Alpkit get good reviews. Not tried one myself, but when what I have needs replacing I’ll be buying from there.

Love mine. Plenty space for all the stuff I like to carry all organised neatly in the pockets. I’ve had mine for about a year and a half without problems.

You need to mute the advert on the side of the page, and when you click to play you get a pop-up that you need to close before it will work.

I’m much improved… and it’s just riding loads that has done it. Unfortunately, I’m still not very good!

    Ahh, the voice of reason.

FWIW it didn’t smell of shite last time I was there. It did smell a bit sweaty, but that might just have been my friend. In fact I think it probably was just my friend.

You’ll be fine! I’ve done that before, I know other people who’ve made the same mistake… nobody I know has ever had it be a problem. 🙂

I don’t care if mine are uncool, they’re proper sheepskin ones and my feet would commit homicide rather than be parted from them in the winter…

This. I may look daft, but I can be smug about my warm feet while foolish people wearing their more fashionable slippers complain of the cold!

Is there such a thing as too bright? So long as the light is angled down a bit so it doesn’t blind drivers, I’d think the brighter the better.

    Elizabeth…

So many options for what the kid does eventually get called. (liz is my favourite!)

Failing that, invent a nickname for your child and just refer to her by that rather than her actual name!

I find your whole post quite offensive tbh.

Decorating the tree is my job every year and I love it, but mostly because I just love sparkly/shiny things!

My hands get very cold easily and I use these quite often.
You do need some space in your gloves to fit them, but they last for hours. I saw some in my local ASDA on offer 2 pairs for £1 … maybe worth a shot if you’ve not tried them before.

edit- They make ones to go in shoes too, but I’ve not tried those.

If it’s too cold to go out, or I’m too tired, then a night in with a DVD, bottle of something alcoholic and some knitting is pretty cool.
I make ace little knitted teddy bears and earn a few quid on ebay selling them along with the usual hats/gloves/scarf type stuff.

Depends on where they are riding… along the quiet side street to the corner shop, no. Just setting off down a DH track, I might ask them if they’ve forgotten it!

If I went out in just lycra the boys would all keel over in shock at what an incredible arse I have. They would find it too much of a distraction and start crashing into trees and rocks.

Best to keep the baggies on for the sake of not having to ship people off to hospital all the time.

I have the red dog racing version posted there… it works fine, no reason to pay twice as much just to get a sticker on the syringes that says ‘avid’.

The comments made by guys about almost any woman in lycra shorts is reason enough for me to wear baggies.

Only one person is allowed such a view of my arse!

Lightweight in the sense that I don’t eat too many pies… but I love riding in the rain and mud. Was even out in the snow last year, it was awesome fun until it got a bit too deep to pedal in.

I think people just don’t like getting wet, once they are so soaked that it no longer matters everything becomes ridiculously fun again though.

If you’ve got a bag of sugar with a weight printed on it you can estimate. 1kg bags are pretty common, so you’d just work out a tenth and then throw in about that much.
It’s what I do when I cant find the scales.

Thanks, I’ve been avoiding any talk of this all day since I couldn’t watch live. I guess I don’t have to make time to watch the replay now.

I found that as I got more into mountainbiking that I have actually grown to love the colour pink. I think it’s something to do with wanting to still look like a girl even when a bit bruised and muddy.

On the nail polish front… I find that Rimmel ‘lasting finish’ stuff survives pretty well even when changing tyres/fixing stuff.

They sent stuff to me the next day rather than same day but they did have to put the headset on the frame for me so maybe that was the cause of my slight delay.

Does she want a mountain bike, or something more like a road bike but that will still deal well with light off-road?
How tall is she… tall enough not to need the titchy sizes they make wsd bikes available in?
What does she like and dislike about her current bike, could you upgrade parts instead of getting a whole new bike?

FWIW I got on pretty well with the Scott Contessa series… you should be able to get a 2011 contessa 30 on sale for about £450, but it’s still not particularly lightweight.
