I’d say go for the Giant – better spec and the chance to try at your LBS – you do mean Defy don’t you? If Money’s an issue though the price/spec of the Maven does look ok on paper for less than £420 atm.

I’ve never been realistically been able to tell the difference between 25.4mm and 31.8mm os wrt to stability. However all my kit is os now because it’s been cheaper to buy quality replacement kit in that size rather than 25.4mm – no other reason.

I have very fond memories of this when I was at University many years ago….

Absolutely loved Big Country too – A great live band in their day.

Loads of problems, won’t even install on my setup. Don’t miss it though. As you say, probably a bug. I’ll wait for the next version.

    Four usable at the moment

    Giant Trance X
    Ragley Mmmbop
    Gary Fisher Artemis (still assembled)
    Whyte Kings Cross

The Whyte replaces the GF as the all purpose bike, which will be disassembled into the parts bin. There are four other bikes for the rest of the Family.

Finally placed an order for a Whyte Kings Cross today, wanted a new commuter bike I could ride off and on road, without all the fuss of a mountain bike (don’t ask I think it’s just me…). Won’t be available to pick up till October 15th though.

5ft 11.5in on a medium Trance X – ETT = 585mm is just long enough for me, the Large was just too high at the front end. 400mm seat post and 80mm stem.

With a bit of luck Arsenal will offer £8m for Scott Parker now, they certainly need him!

Large italian (although we like to be perceived as american) multinational here. I’m in an odd position in so far management is in Turin, so I’m left to get on with things without interference. At the beginning of this year things were looking a little precarious, but the resignation of a Belgian colleague and my previous boss’s position being reassessed ( shafted) improved things considerably. Management now is very lean so whereas in the past I would have been considered as middle management I’m now a ‘specialist’ The only politics takes place at the highest management levels. The whole business is very lean and process driven, which does suit me.

When you see threads like this you wonder if it’s someone just trying to work out the demographic of a particular web site?

Astonishing… Always thought Mo had loads of talent , but the way he ran that race was fantastic. The big fear is he had some sort of ‘assistance’ in the same way Mark Lewis Francis did but as he is of East African descendency I’m sure he is just achieving his potential…….

This is my 10 yr old’s, made up of cast off and spares. Cheap Handsome dog frame from Allterrain cycles for £55 last year.

Prefer discs rather than V’s. Vs are a constant faff to get right. Discs in my experience, either work or they don’t, but I suppose it’s what you feel comfortable with.

I’m a pricing specialist for a big agricultural manufacturer. I’ve got a degree in Chemical Engineering, not quite sure how I got here?

Don’t mind the job, not too keen on the idiots I have to deal with……

Now back to being my commuter again after a spell as a general hardtail.

Lovely frame, but now tatty, had considered a drop handled 700C, but combination of offroad and urban, means this is more suitable.

Orange SF has it’s issues but it’s cheap, flexible being on android and on PAYG, I enjoy winding up my iphone owning brother, especially after he dropped his original iphone down the lavvy (bog etc).

2% increase for May. Despite the economy being up poo creek sans paddle, we’ll probably get away with it. Commodity prices are increasing QED. If push comes to shove, mention fuel prices, if there’s a transport component you’ll justify any increase.
I was a buyer once, the best increase was when the supplier said” take it or leave it, we don’t need your business!” At the time it used to scare me, but in retrospect it was a lesson learnt.

Two out of three bikes in working order. The commuter is sitting in a pit of indecision, as I don’t know quite what to do with it. I might buy a cheap road bike to replace it. The biggest issue is me, I had shingles at the end of February and am still waiting to fully recover That combined with my lardiness due to lack of exercise and old age doesn’t help.

I’m 5ft 11 1/2in and have had a Trance and currently got a Trance X as mediums. The biggest change I made to the Trance X was to take off Risers and put on a 710mm wide flat bar. Lowering the high up front end really helps for me too – the main thing that put me off the large was the very high front end. Currently got a 90mm stem on the Front, owner of 32in inside leg.

I’ve had two cards compromised in the last week, both of which have been used for CRC in the space of the last month. I can think of other common purchasers for both, but in light of the length of this thread I thought I’d add my twopenny worth.

Arrrrrrrrggggh…. top gear is NOT a car show. It’s a middle aged blokey comedy show. Clarkson, Hammond and May are caricitures and I doubt if they are anything like themselves. They should be treated as such. If you don’t like it don’t watch it……
