blimey – I read the OP’s description and thought it would be easy, but from the discussion it’s clearly not.

Seems to be all down to where you consider the losses should be covered

    – by the initial investment?

    – by the payments being made on the mortgage?… and then on top of it how to you cover the idea of “rent” for one sister living in the house, and one not.

I have to admit, I’m struggling with how to deal with it, and with the OP the best of luck that it goes smoothly for the sisters and he gets lives a happy stress free life.

I can’t think of any good real time battles like TotalWar, but lots of the suggestions above are good.

I’m hoping Cold Waters goes on sale, then i’ll give it a whirl.

The Humble Bundle guys have a Paradox Strategy “Pay What You Want” still on – that might be worth a look for some cheap strategy.

DirtyLyle – is it the battles, or the strategy side that you enjoy most and are trying to replicate in another game?

For grand strategy it’s hard to beat Europa Universalis or maybe Hearts of Iron for WW2 specific.

I’ve found it’s harder to find real time battles with the same attraction as the Total War series.

I’m with petrieboy and fossy for ‘restaurant’ for having to use spell check everytime

also, I know how it’s spelt I can never type pipeline first time, it always comes out pipiene … which isn’t good when working in the oil and gas world.

… and now I don’t know if it should have been ‘spelt’ or ‘spelled’

that is very very cool, and if you go to the vimeo site, there’s a commentary to go with it.. the guy’s enthusiasm is infectious

Matt_outandabout … I applaude your tenacity and I hope that you get this fixed / corrected.

I find myself getting frustrated by cycle lane designs all over Surrey.  The next time I’ll do something similar and see how far I get as someone who doesn’t know someone who knows someone who would know what not.

If you’re located in Surrey – Freeborn Cycles in Horsham do a good deal on these – got mine there.

Johnny Vegas has gone steadily downhill since appearing on TV… his stand-up used to be fantastic, but I guess like has been mentioned with most comedy in that it only has a certain lifespan, so maybe he jumped to TV at the right time

If you are an iPhone user there is an app that uses the sound made when you pluck the spokes to tell you the tension.

That sounds pretty neat, but I’m skeptical about the way it works?
I would think that the length of the spoke would have an effect on the sound, and also the lacing pattern… or am I being dumb?

Don’t need the receipt as the tools say Halfords advanced on so should be able to just walk straight in and get a replacement!

I’ve done exactly this – no questions, and as helpful as can be.

    Tried these out:
    – the Fox launches were too tight on my calf (both the SS17 & 3DO versions)
    – the Dainese Trailskins pushed against my knee cap.

    Will keep looking

I fall neatly into the category of having no idea what my sus is doing – so for me I found the little gadget brilliant. I understand that it makes no sense if you already knew what your suspension was up to and knew what to change.
For me, it turns out that my setup was a little way out and I had no idea what to do with it… it now runs a lot better, and I had a beneficial step change in my confidence on the bike.

Not sure what you mean with that link Splash-man.
As far as I can see all it tells us is that it’s not property of “Woodland Trust”

I think Pandemic is my favourite co-op game out there at the moment, and there’s a decent version of Pandemic on the iPad.

Exploding kittens came to our house this Christmas too -mucho fun

    I use MTB pedals:
    – easier to clip in
    – use the pedals I took off the MTB (gone to flats)
    – I can walk in the shoes

only downside I can see at my level is that they’re slightly heavier.

I’ve just replaced my battery (20 minutes and < £20) and can confirm an immediate speed increase when doing stuff like opening apps and the like.

I’m glad the geekbench guys highlighted this, saved me from dumping the iPhone for an Android

I’d noticed my 6 has been exceedingly slow since going to iOS 11. It had me thinking that I’d change over to an Android phone next, as I believed Apple had the attitude to “slow them down to make them upgrade”.

As it turns out I’d decided to order a new battery for <£20 at the start of this week after a sudden shutdown in the cold last weekend. Fingers crossed I get a speed boost out of this too.

2017 goals I’d made for myself:
1/ cycle an average of 10km per day (3650km)
2/ learn how to leave the ground and be confident to land on my pedals every time (thanks Tony and Tom for helping with this)
3/ build a bike for the first time
4/ get an app on the app store

Only achieved #3 at 100% – close on 1 and 2, but I dumped 4 and started learning python instead.

2018 has the potential to be brilliant:
1/ cycle an average of 5 hours a week – time is a better measure than distance,
2/ enter a mtb cycling event (probably singletrack 7),
3/ do a multi-day gravel bike ride from home and the get the train home,
4/ get hitched and get a house / stop renting.

sorry to hear about your mate globalti.

I bailed out on Blencathra, and stuck to the trail up to Black Sail Hut from Ennerdale… lovely to get out, and kinda glad the most technical section there was the ford up near the hut

Thanks for all the input, I will do Blencathra loop when I come back another time.

Thanks for the input folks, and the excellent write up hodgynd.

From the comments, I’m tempted to skip the ride down towards Mosedale, and keep to the same as you guys did on Saturday.

Generally gets a quick hose down with minimal chain cleaning.
This is proving to be not enough as I see my drivetrain has quickly gone past the point of needing a new chain to needing to replace the whole chainset. cassette, and chain :(

After procrastinating yesterday, I got out and went exploring Newlands / St Marthas hill.
Never been up that way before, and a few nice little bits – but what we found was few and far between.

Just to close this out – I’ve bodged a job on it at the moment, but it’s going to get the helicoil treatment soon.

Just a bit worried about completely wrecking it, as Lapierre want ~£200 for the upper linkage 8O

I’ve been pretty good so far this autumn, but struggling to get out the door today – everything just feels too far away / too much hassle

    LittleNose
    Free Member

    Yes that’s the one.

I think it Ian going to be a case of having someone look at it to see if I can get a helicopter in there.

Strangely I used to outbid helicoils into stainless steel bodies every day for a living, but when it comes to my bike I shy off.
Maybe I should just give it a whirl – the part is bugger d already

Decided to take it to bits and have a look.

Turns out the LBS had stripped the treads on the long centre bolt housing on the OST link part.
Damn annoyed with the LBS, and I’ll not be back for anything there.

Anyone know where I can get a new link part for a 2013 Zesty / Spicy ?
