The camera is mounted on a waist harness pole and the software edits out the pole.

my initial thought was that is pure magic…
now after reading this I think very very cool !

I’ve not had atrial fibrillation, but if you end up going down the route of ablation and want to talk about what that’s like from the patients side; I had that treatment for my tachycardia in November – no episodes since.

Good luck, and I hope it’s straightforward for you.

After the last 6 months of injuries and an operation I’m finally back on the cycles, but my weight has gone up and fitness off a cliff.
So I’m coming back to Zwift to get me going again a bit quicker than I would without it… starting point is 95kgs, target is 90kgs. Also hoping to get my W/kg back above 2.5

You have missed a gender out – those that do not wish to be defined by gender.

Why not just have two categories
    – open (absolutely anyone)
    – female

so, there are a load of underused shockwiz sat unused after the initial use by the purchaser.

yep, that’s probably true… but similar to Weeksy, I’ve 3 of my bikes I use it on, then there’s friends who borrow it too.
Underused yes, but still glad I got it.

I’ve had a shockwiz for a while now, and it made quite a difference to how I felt on my bike. I could stop wondering what I should try modifying, and scratching my head wondering what was changing – I’m one of those that’s unable to really understand the feedback I get from the bike, and wonder if it’s the suspension that’s changed, or if it’s a different line over the roots / speed, body position etc.
I’m not tuning my suspension for different areas, as now I have a set of settings that I like, and just enjoy my riding*
It would be nice to have the ability that so many on here seem to have, but alas it’s not the case. I think the shockwiz product was aimed directly at the likes of me, and I am very happy to have bought it.

Weeksy – is it an option to get insurance on the gadget for renting it out?

That’s that done and dusted and I’m sitting back in my room with tea and biscuits  I thought I’d take this moment to wrap up this thread.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone- it’s been interesting to read the different experiences.

My procedure went well, they found the offending fibres (a whole bunch of them), and made some zaps. Doc reckons I’ve a 95% chance of total success (no more episodes).

no sedation until the zapping started, but the feelings of the probes poking about in my chest was very weird.  One moment I felt it was coming up my throat.  Best description was a bundle of sticks tuck in your throat at random moments, and sometimes bits of pressure  here and there.

The first ablation was painless, but after that I felt some heat and then pain, and for the last two zaps I had sedation and morphine – hello fairies.

Tired out, but feeling exhilarated that it’s done and I may be free of the hamster heart once and for all !

Mot answer my original question, I’ve been advised not to ride for 3 weeks due to my groin wound. Apparently my heart would be good to go tomorrow.

    happy riding everyone

Thanks for all the input folks.

It’s something I’ve actively put off for approx 20 years, but this last year or so my 230+ bpm (hamster heart) symptoms have occurred more frequently than I’ve been happy to put up with.

The following two facts have helped swing it for me:

1/ I’m heading towards 50 at an alarming rate, I figure it’s easier to recover from them there operation things when you’re younger.

2/ I think if I end up with a pace maker now, then at least I’ve got a good way through life before that, and if not, then I’ve got a good way left in life to enjoy without SVT events.

Ton – sorry to hear your op had issues that bothered your shoulder to the point of needing morphine 1

superficial – cheers for the input and clarity on this thread.

everyone else – thanks again for the input… I’m feeling pretty positive about it.  1 week for getting back to turning pedals and enjoying the outdoors is great news to me !

flats… I think probably I’m just to old and slow

    LittleNose

After lurking on the last couple of threads about manuals I went out to start practicing last night.

Total skillz failure, on about the 5th or 6th attempt the bike went over the top, I failed to step off, and landed flat on my back… It was so quick, and then I couldn’t get up for a good 5 minutes.  I’ve since consumed many many mg’s of every painkiller I could get my hands on, and had a GP consultation to check me out.

I’m just glad I was on grass and not concrete !

We’ve just driven back from Morzine – 2 of us doing the driving in 2 hour stints on the way down we managed it in 9 hours with only one decent stop; don’t want to talk about the way home.

It was £70 in tolls each way

Dropped down to Lindrets, but I’ll be damned if I could find Panoramique or a route to Chatel!!  It’s been a few years, but I was sure I knew the way and it’s like it’s not there.

From Lindarets you need to take another lift out (Chaux Fleurie Express) and at the top of there you’ll find Panoramic.

The Trailforks app is great for helping when out on the trail.

    Epilogue…

Home now.  I feel like I’d only just started getting to grips with the gradients and building confidence with the smaller jumps and big bermed steep switchbacks.

Would I want more time there, of course.  But then maybe it’s a good thing to be going home knowing I’ve progressed a fair bit, the bike has been pretty much flawless, I’m not too damaged, and I’m wanting to come back and develop my riding further.

Would I recommend it? without question, it’s brilliant and you don’t need to be a gnarr rider to enjoy it.  And there’s cow bells!

The only downside I can see to the trip is that I’m not sure if I can be bothered pedalling up onto Leith Hill next time I’m out.

It’s the final day and we’ve decided that although there’s loads of rails still to explore, we’d prefer to spend time on the trails we know we’re going to enjoy rather than seek out new trails. From what we’ve seen up on the Zore area, that’s where we both enjoyed most, so off we went to play.

Everything today just gelled nicely, I felt more at home on the steep sections, Tutti Frutti with the close packed successive berms flowed nicely, and Cap Canaveral with the tabletops mixed in with the berms were just right on our third day of riding.

Mixing this with plenty of runs on the green and even skipping in that rocky enduro route in, the day was a winner with confidence high and limbs only just starting to fatigue by the time we called it a day; with ‘one more run’ waiting for us next time.

Still a little apprehensive this morning, and the lift up on Super-Morzine wasn’t helping, things are looking even steeper. Thankfully looking about from the next lift up (Zore) things didn’t look as steep. In addition you can get a good look at some of the trails below the lift. There’s lots of berms and some big tables!

Choosing the closest green down into the Seraussaix valley. From popping of the first roller I knew this was made for me, all the way down it was flowing rollers, tables and mini berms, and it had gradients I was much more at home with. more used to. My confidence growing.

On the way back up we decided that we should take a run out over to Châtel as we both fancied trying out ‘Panoramic’ (as MTB-idle suggests), and so off we went down an orange line what was labelled ‘enduro’.

This was almost natural single track, rocky loose stones, short ups mixed with the downs, and a lot of fun, but agin very tiring.

This popped us out into Lindaretes, a little cluster of buildings (cafes and ski lifts) and a stream running through. Up up up we went and there’s Panoramic. Every review I’d read before now mentions this run and boy was it good. A bit trickier and steeper then the previous runs today.

The trail surface was smooth and had a real fresh feel to it. Again I found it hard work and was glad to get a break when the reason for the smooth surface became apparent, a digger was on the track doing some trail maintenance.

We stopped for a bite to eat and a coke – panini for the win. An observation was that although they serve the drinks ice cold, it never comes with ice.

Serpentine, and it’s named appropriately, with a very steep snaking berms mixed in with some other neat bits that didn’t seem to be so formulaic like sone of the others. This was the first time today that I was really hanging on my brakes for most of the run. My thighs and forearms really felt it. I’d come back to this one someday if ever I feel like I can handle that kind of gradient.

It was a nice break enjoying the two lifts right to the top at Avoriaz with its oddly shaped hotels.

Fourmiz is a wonderful green run down from Avoriaz that is worth searching out, a wonderful change of pace to everything else we’d seen so far.

We Finished the day playing mainly on the greens, and took the Super-Morzine gondola back to base. I was thankful for this as we were still at 800m above Morzine and my arms and legs were just about done. I didn’t want a repeat of yesterday’s over the bars.

Today I think learned that my anxiety has settled, I knew when to head home and best of all – cow bells make me smile
