I reckon it’s pretty straight forward – In this situation I think I’d probably support the missus by going along to the christening, but I’d be finding stuff to be ‘busy’ for the rest of the weekend; if she hadn’t asked if it was ok for Tweedleprick to stay, then she can’t be upset if I’m not there.
IF you do burst into flames, make sure it’s filmed

Good to see such a level headed young man… sounds like he’s had a tricky time but he took a brave step forward and life has come good for him… chappeau

This this this… can’t believe I’d not heard this was even being thought of, never mind in production.
Will see if we can have the original as this weeks Saturday night family movie.

is it worth checking with your bank and making sure you’ve cancelled the direct debit?

I’ve no interest in running, but that was a brilliant and entertaining bit of film.
    Thanks for sharing !

“no longer feel safe” inside 1500kg of crumple zones, side impact bars and airbags because of someone on a bicycle

Probably because they overtake cyclsts at stupid locations such as blind bends etc… so their safety is compromised by the tractor coming around said bend the other way.

Hoping to do this tomorrow evening – bimble along some MOD land, view the viewpoint, then back to the pub… winner

Never thought about the why before. At first I thought this was a heat thing… but a couple
of beers and a bag of crisps have helped with enlightenment…

It appears to be a moment thing… try to stop something from pivoting is easier if you’re further away from the pivot (axle).
So changing a 180 to a 200 rotor gives an 11% increase in stopping power assuming all else remains the same.

Looks like the kids were really getting into it – it’s brilliant to see kids growing in confidence.
    Nice one!

trying to decide which local I like most… but looks like one is coming out on top, not sure if that’ll change in winter:

    – variable opening times; so is a delight when unexpectedly open
    – good local beers, kept well with high turnover
    – gardens where the birdsong is wonderful in the evening sun

as Weeksy says… suggest checking out a 905 – I think there’s some on discount just now too

I’ve never looked forward to riding a specific bike as much as I do my Whyte 905 hardtail.
Keeping the FS for the big (to me) downhill days such as BPW, and when my arthritic knees are complaining

    Thanks for the input guys.

Looks like 30mm inner are out of the running then. Although I’m not sure anyone could class me as a hard rider!

Been offered some XM1501’s which I’ve heard good things about but thought they were out of my price range.

I’ll also check out what local custom whee builders there are around here.

Been tempted to buy this subscription for a while, but wondered if it includes any way to get this onto my Garmin as well without forking out £350 for the SD card option.

If it’s the Nucleus 26 that you were looking at on CRC, then wiggle still have them in stock.

Thanks @ferrals & @bikebouy for the heads up on the Elder Ale – That sounds like something I would enjoy. @garage-dweller I think I’ll stick Cheriton on the list of destinations ;)

The weekend involved a couple of rides
    – a bimble along the old Meon railway, which was pleasant but too closed in by trees on either side to enjoy many views.
    – a quick blast around QECP blue.. enjoying those big berms

@Bez & @garage-dweller cheers… I’ll try it out next time, my only worry about the pubs so far down that way, is that it’s a long and hilly way back for me… have to say though, the pubs looked like my kinds of places.

    @ferrals
thanks for the pointers… I’ll go exploring those, and probably push up Stoner Hill at some point soon. The Harrow – now this one I’ve found already – it’s but a short walk from my house.

    @bartimaeus
    I recognise that view ;)

for info, the Barley Mow was shut, and I didn’t make it to the Hare and Hounds – I turned left up to UpMarden before getting there.

Yeah fair point, I’ll go quiet on the Sussex bits.

Phew… a had a ride down to Walderton and back with a mix of lanes and bridleways. Found a lovey bit of BW that was perfect for the croix de fer running down from West Marden to Walderton. But I think this is Sussex – I guess I need to head west soon to keep on topic.
Was disappointed that most of the pubs were shut on a Sunday late afternoon. That may be the reason I need to head west.

Garage-dweller, I’ll take a look at that loop soon.

Going to head Harting way for a scout about I think.

Ah cool, yes. Hadn’t realised the other was was Harting Down – we arrived there from the Chalton direction (Huckswood Lane)… I’ll put my ignorance down to still getting my bearings.

On a separate note – does anyone have good off road routes for getting out of Petersfield. I don’t mind doing country lanes once clear of the traffic.
There seems to be lots of paths, but a distinct lack of bridleways for getting out of town. Not sure which paths it might be ok to be ‘cheeky’ on?

Have been using the Edge 1000 for several years and found it almost faultless. The software was always a bit clunky in my experience, but “worked”. Prefer other systems for looking at my data, or plotting routes – so by “worked” I guess I mean efficiently uploading to Strava etc.

The power on/off button the on the 1000 broke off a month or two back, and so I picked up an 820 to replace it as the new 830 was due and 820’s were on sale.
Works just like the 1000, but the gradient of a hill goes nuts sometimes and just reads zero when I know it’s easily over 10% or whatever… but can put up with that if it’s the only fault.

it’s looking south onto Compton Down – I was later to be pushing up that hill in the distance

    What a brilliant thread!
I’ve read if from front to back, and really enjoyed hearing the journeys people have been on, and the route discussions, and photos are ace!
I’ve just recently moved to East Hampshire (Petersfield), and just getting my bearings… it seems a fun and very pretty place to be, and so quite on the lanes etc.
Looking forward to enjoying the thread more, and hopefully providing some photo’s and ride reports myself.

*Edit; This was last weekend, but I think this was just over the border into Sussex… does it still count?

no chance of every day… I tried to do 30 days in September last year, but instead of being fun it became a chore to get out every day; then I fell off and broke myself.
I’m riding 2-3 times a week at the moment, and always looking forward to the next time I can get out – which is how I like it.

    An update :
It’s been 5 weeks, and on average I’ve been playing in Zwift once a week, and getting outdoors once or twice a week too.
Not lost any of the kgs, but a 20min FTP test last night showed a 15 W gain. Still some ways to go, but I suspect the best (& hardest) thing I can do is cut out the beers.
Will be looking to do some lower level racing once a week to help keep a schedule more than anything – an suggestions for a 6-6:30 start race series for beginners ?

Don’t get them so much these days. If I stop suddenly after big exertion I can get them , once or twice a year.

rone – I had this, it’s a tachycardia – mine was superventricular (upper chambers), and was resolved with a RF ablation procedure (in and out of hospital the same day)… not had it since.
