Spesh Vita Disc would do the job nicely.

Bought my better half one of these about a month ago and she loves it… got a 2016 ‘elite’ for £575… there are good bargains to be had

Bought these and it’s my first time trying tubeless – for my first time bike build, so I thought why not try.
I’ve got one sealed and one leaky one. I’ll try again with the leaky one, but maybe I need to source some glitter stuff.

am i right that these hubs can be adapted for different axles?

yes apparently it can be adapted, and I think you’re right that is likely to be the way forward, I’ve just tried and I can’t get them off… not sure if I’m missing something obvious

[edit]… applied more force and you’re dead right…. onward bound :D

Steerer cut down to size, Yippee! – pipe cutter used (thanks to the Years Ago thread.

I’ve installed the bars now, and the gear cables are in and all set to go (the Shimano group set pack saved me a lot of cutting and measuring). It’s very cool seeing it come alive bit by bit – one of the best things I’ve done with cycling beyond actually cycling, which is also questionable.

Anyway… onto the sticky bit at hand…
I’ve got an RS4 centrelock hub and while trying to fit a IceTech rotor to it I’ve run into an issue with the splined tool (cassette tool) – it doesn’t fit… well, technically it fits the rotor lock ‘nut’, but it doesn’t engage.
From the images, I hope you can see that there is a lip on the hub that the tool doesn’t have a large enough internal diameter to slide over it.
I tried first with a generic tool I had, and when that didn’t fit I figured I needed a Shimano one, but that hasn’t worked either. Any ideas?

Thanks to everyone throwing in ideas… it’s really given me confidence to give this a go without throwing money at my LBS.

thankfully it’s steel 8) …going to just keep pushing it down as I cut a bit off the top

Made a start on the build, bearings and stuff… but was surprised to find that the steerer tube was about 40mm longer than the spacers provided combined with a typical stem…

I’ve just ordered my CdF frame, and torn between which wheels to get, not sure between:

    – Hunt Mason 4 Season’s

ha haaa… yes I can see me putting the forks in the wrong way, but thankfully they’re coming fitted (I think)

I like the idea of taping the cables in place to start with… I’ll be using that for sure.

thanks for the inputs everyone – it’s been helpful.

I’m thinking of getting a pair of these for my CdF, how did you guys get on with them?

thanks zer0cool, that’s pretty much how I expect my build to go too with extra tools, and time required to make up for my lack of mechanicking ability.. just hope it’s fun though.

Fortunately I’ve got other bikes I can use while waiting for this one to come together.

Unfortunately, I’ve already found that I’m experiencing feature creep as I see other bits I’d like – with the associated additional fund requirements

Thank you for the input – the thing about the triple is very interesting, and yep, I’ve been thinking about the routing of gear / brake cables (hoses)

Was up Redlands / Coldharbour on Saturday – Redlands is good up top, but quagmire near the bottom (as always)
Leith / Coldharbour hill was ok for the most part with a few localised sticky bits

@blitz I found the same when I was in the KISS (C) race on Tuesday, and couldn’t figure out who was in the race, or how (badly) I was doing… Still as you say, it was a good workout, and fun to try.

Looking forward to getting another race in soon, but the 8pm starts are really the best for me, but might try EVR to see what that’s like.

Thanks Weeksy – much appreciated. I’ve added STW, and yes it could be the network at my end.
Looking forward to getting on again, and hopefully finishing the race next time around. the racing really made me work a lot harder than I would have on my own.

    Gray:
I get a similar drift in results from my Tacx Vortex and powermeter. I’ve also noticed that at lower power (100w) the two units match fairly well, but once about 200w I get a 10% difference, and when pushing hard it drifts out to a 15% difference.
I don’t mind too much, but I wish I could easily remove my power trace from strava, or have a different power curves for two devices.

A couple of questions popped up from last night…

1/ how do I go about joining the STW team on zwiftpower?
2/ is it normal on the first lap for all the other riders to disappear and come back randomly? Almost as if the network is overloaded.

Looks like either my non finish, or my accidental use of a power-up at the start when I was fiddling with the iPhone caused my details to disappear off the results table.

Heh heh, that was fun, bringing up the rear, and crashed out on the final lap with hamster style heart conditions… will be back though.. hope to improve.

Add STW onto your name so we can cry when you pass us!

Yep – I’ll do that, Be good to see a few STW’s on there
… but suspect I’ll be the one being passed when my ‘hamster heart’ kicks in!

TBH I don’t blame you for turning tail

Had a couple of rides up into Surrey Hills after dark, and generally spooked myself with imagination – the only reason I haven’t done that myself is because of the p1$$ taking that I’d get if someone saw it on my strava.

As for diving in the dark – not a chance… I spook myself in broad daylight swimming 100m from the beach in the med.

I have that pencilled in for tomorrow unless work gets in the way. Also in C

I usually do the Tuesday 8pm Kiss race, CAT D, although last time I was 2.49w/KG and came 4th so it won’t be long until i’m in CAT C.

Cheers folks – more incentive to get on it if I’ve got people expecting to see me there :)

I’ve been playing about with Zwift for a little while now and thinking of joining the KISS race on Tuesday eve.

After a test last night in a “Ride and Race” (ZwiftPower), I was pushing as hard as I could lost the pack and came in 44/48; had a 95% power output of 2.62 w/kg, so think I’m in the C class… will anyone else from here be on?

Ouch Prawny – that looked nasty.

Took the road bike out to see the sun – from the Hogs Back to Devils Punchbowl and back.
Quite fancy some XC tomorrow, but my body is currently saying otherwise

Or pick up a cheap mk1 Apple TV and Airplay to it

Mine never really works. Always flickers making whatever I airplay annoying to watch. I’ve tried everything but resorted to using a cable, It’s much better.[/quote]

Apple screwed up on this somehow on some macbooks. If you’ve got an iPhone or iPad you’ll find that the airplay works perfectly on the same system.

Worth checking out AirParrot or Beamer on “try-before-buy” as these seem to work for most folk who have native AirPlay issues with their Macbooks

from Richmond and have a pretty good 50mile loop with about 80% off road out to Mickelham,

aP – I’d be interested to know more about this route if youd care to share
I live in Dorking and gf lives in Molesey; would be good to know a decent mostly offroad route between the two.

I’ve just started with Zwift too – I’m one of those that has had the turbo sitting there but not enough incentive to get on it – now it is fun and comparing with your Strava mates is cool too.

Living near Dorking, I like the 15km London loop which includes Boxhill – seems so much tougher in the VR world 8O

    Thanks guys

I was originally trying not to use the libraries, so that I could learn to understand what’s going on under the hood so to speak, but I think on reflection after banging my head against the wall, I’m going to use OAuthSwift or StravaKit to see if I can get any further.

Thanks again folks… and I’ll let you know how I get on.

Yes, it uses JSON, which I think I’m quite happy with, but it’s the initial requests and authentication I’m struggling with.

As you say, the net is full of helpful resources, but as Swift is updating annually and not backwards compatible, it’s hard to always know which version the resource is trying to help with.
I’ve also found that within Swift there are so many obscure and specific library calls compared to something like Python.

Yes, I’ve read the API guide, but as a hobbyist, I’m struggling with lots of the jargon.

Thanks for the input… it’s very helpful to motivate me again… I’ll have another concerted effort over the next week and let you know how I get on.

Ahh man that sucks – after taking the step to go through the ablation step. I have episodes myself, but don’t have the balls to take the step of having the ablation done.

Hopefully as has been mentioned, it’s just a ‘touch-up’ that’s required and you’ll be right as rain to go again without any more in the future.
