My drinking habits are pretty random, but what is for sure is if I have more than 2 pints, then I’ll keep going until it runs out / closes or I fall asleep.

To help counter it, I’ve also started drinking the low alcohol beers (<0.5%) over the last few years, and it helps… still enjoy a cool beer flavour at 6pm, and still be functional the next day.

+1 for the Big Drop range… they’re packed with flavour.

yes indeed… I like the idea of being able to bail out at many points (train stations), and also being in wide open countryside.

Thanks for all the replies with ideas.
I looked over all the areas proposed, and after looking at the Mary Townley Loop particularly looked good, but maybe too much for me in 2 months time. However, it got me looking at the Pennine Way, and I’m thinking that the Northern section (north of Settle) may fit the bill, with lots of train stations that can be used if I need to bail out early.

Yeah, we watched it last week and really enjoyed it. Good production, actors, and pacing kept us glued to our seats

Currently I’m enjoying playing Aeon’s End : War Eternal, which is a great deck builder… possibly beating Spirit Island as my favourite game.
And reading the rules for Fire in the Lake as I hope this is the next new title to hit my table… a bit heavier, but I’m hoping it proves to be a good for a brain workout.

I believe that’s the collar that you put on the tube when bleeding the brakes.
Push it along the tube and tight up to the nipple, and it ‘locks on’ so to speak

Tom Scott does a good discussion on this on YouTube

somehow found one of her images

There are lots of AI methods to recognise images, and third party companies offering it as a service to find images being used in an altered format.
I use a raspberry pi with a camera and simple algorithm of image comparisons to check I haven’t left the garage door open at the end of the day.

Good luck sorting it out… personally, I think you’re doing the right thing

GC has a bit of a learning curve, but once you’ve got it setup how you like it’s pretty simple…..

Thanks for the tips… I think I’m slowly getting there with it.

What format does it deliver your data in? Loads of individual gpx files?

yep it seems to be that way, along with a set of CSV files with other data. Wish I’d kepts all my fit files in a folder somewhere.

~£5 a month is not worth paying just to see MY previous times so will probably stop using it all together now.

This sums up how I feel about Strava payments too. Until I find another workflow I will keep data going into Strava as a central repository that other ‘apps’ can get the data from, but as soon as I’m sorted, I’ll cut ties.
I’ll miss the social side of Strava, but without being able to check my time comparisons easily, it’s not something I’m likely to log into at anymore.

Spent an hour with Golden Cheetah to see if I can get a simple workflow going there. So far it seems like a battle for me to get to grips with, and is focussed on power meter data.
So, I suspect it’s time to write a script to look at the few segments I check my history on.

Unfortunately, it’s also having a knock on effect for 3rd party developers. I’ve just cancelled my VeloViewer sub, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s cancelled a subscription because of this.

Going by what has happened in other countries, I’d say in a couple of days we will be well passed 1000 cases, increasing exponentially.

Especially as now we’re finally increasing the number of tests we conduct each day:

    – so far 27,476 people have been tested
    – new tests up to 10,000 per day

go for what works for you… I tried the in ear things once, and couldn’t get the lid back off my head – little stalks kept rotating when I lifted the lid – hurt lots, and never tried again.

Can’t believe I’m watching gogglebox… got the MiL here, and it seems to be the only way to stop her interfering in every possible way and constant inane mutterings.
… only 2 more days, then we get a few days with just the 2 of us… bliss

Shoot for the moon – as ads678 says, cant hurt asking.

I’ve done pretty much that myself, only issues I find is that :
    – for the 4 days because I’m working the extra hour I find it hard to fit much else into the evening other than family, food, and sleep.
    – sometimes on a Monday I have to catch up with what the team did on Friday while I was it… but that’s normally sorted by lunchtime.

Benefits for life and happiness are numerous

Wow – that looks proper messed up.
Good luck when the surgery comes around – I’d choose to be awake, as although you know it’s going on, you don’t get to see anything really. .. and it’s less risky… I chose to be awake for my heart op last year

    Heal up fast and completely!

At Halfords once, and the guy on the till who saw me locking it up told me to bring it in if I preferred… only time I’ve taken a bike in a shop unless it was a LBS and I was wanting it worked on.

I had a leg lengthening procedure done nearly 10 years ago (40mm total extension) when including the straightening.
An external frame was on the card, but I ended up with an internal nail, which was good and bad, traumatic procedure, but almost forgotten about once the wound healing was complete (a year later) – I chose to have a second procedure to remove the nail once the bone healing and strengthening was complete.
Maybe worth seeing if an internal nail is an option for you?

I’ve gone to a 4 day week. By adding an hour to each day I am working, it’s only cost me 10%.
Like many others have already posted the extra full day to do as you please each week makes a big difference to how you feel about life.

I will probably consider dropping that extra hour too sometime in the future, but for now it works for me and the company.

Big Drop Brewing Co Pale Ale is the best I’ve tried by quite some margin.
We get it delivered from Waitrose – not sure if I’ve seen it on the shelves though

blinding price… have XT’s on the hardtail just now, and not happiest with them compared to the E4’s I have on the full suspension bike… so, trying to decide between the Zee’s at a great price, or dropping the cash to get some E4’s.
As I’ve got E4’s on the full suspension bike I’m thinking I’ll benefit from having the same ‘feel’ on both bikes – or is that crazy man thinking?

Oh no – I hope the journey home wasn’t too much of a mare, and you’ve found a good compromise for your two weeks.. no chance of hiring a vehicle for two weeks to get you there?

the classifieds is what got me started reading STW forums… still mainly a lurker, but rarely use the classifieds, no where near the range and amount of stuff there anymore.

Could we perhapse have a comprimise of a classified forum (i.e. the old one), with a value cap of £25? STW still gets a few quid when people list their T5, and the users get a way to buy/sell/swap their tat?

I like this idea a lot

yeah, I kinda fell into this situation – I thought it was going to simply be a broken switch, so had told them I’ll sort it… oops.

But you are quite right about the taking the pi$$… and I’ve told them to take a hike on a few things already… ended up saying to the estate agent to filter the buyer or I was going back to market.

I’ve tried the switches and checked round circuit continuity works on one return but not on the other (using the common wire). Seems to be in the wire.

Thanks for the input guys – will be getting a sparky in soon to have a proper look – pita as I now live an hour away.

I had this after getting a twig jammed in there
Changed the hanger, reset the tensions / b screw, was better, but not perfect, so then spent half an hour with the bike on a stand turning through the gears until I found exactly which tooth was, then with a needle file took the leading edge off the tooth with a needle file.
It’s quiet again and still changes gear happily.

The little guy has just got a phone in the last few weeks – starting secondary school in Sept.
The hardest part is wanting to let him enjoy the tech, text talk with his friends more often, and yet keep him aware of a reality outside of the phone – he’s slowly getting it, as he loses the phone for a period of time when he doesn’t respond to ‘outside’ events.
