Hmmm, I’m going to try the middle ground at the mega this year.

    Tubeless Scwalbe Hans dampf.

Used dual ply with tubes and dual ply setup tubeless. Had zero punctures with either whilst racing there.

The weight savings on the 1.5ply is too tempting……

Si patons facebook has a link to the album. Apparently, a leisure lakes, Pearce cycles and the bike yard have all been done by the same guy. London accent?

Happening Alot, 3 or 4 shops in the midlands got done the same way about a week ago. They have a good photo of the guy.

Check the works page. Tapered steerer anglesets are here (not in all degrees).

First time in a Scott ransom with domains, heavy ass wheels and whatever bits I had lying about. Probably weighed 37lbs! Uni Budget!

Last year on the same frame but with 55s, flow rims and DH minions mounted with sealent only. Weighed 32lbs. Started work!

The ransom, or equally clever travel adjust frames, are ace. Also, qualified for the main both years. However,

This year, a mondraker dune with bos devilles and flow rims that’ll be tubeless again. 29lbs.

Thinking I should have opted for a foxy with an angleset though. Dune will be great in the alps but foxy in UK.

    Also…DROPPER POST!

yep – just getting everything straight before the mega.

So, if that is the issue (or even if it isn’t) strip/clean/rebleed?

    Or,

bleed hose in reverse and then pull air out/pressurise lever as normal?

This … Do the brakes have reach adjustment and is it wound out all the way ? … was suggested on another forum.

Hasn’t helped me but it might you?

cool. if i’ve any luck solving it i’ll keep you in the loop.

    depends on you really.

There is probably more money in splitting – if you can be bothered AND can wait for all the parts to be sold.

But for ease and cash (if not as much) right now – as a single item.

    As a side…..frame size/cost?

    Here’s mine………POW!

Used it last year with a completely different (budget/heavy) build.

This year 32lbs with DH tires(tubeless). WIN.

edit: far as i understand it….race license OR med cert. Lat year i had a race lisence and they didn’t bat an eyelid.

i’ve a scott ransom 30 (alloy). snapped the chainstay last year – i’m not even sure how – i just noticed the crack whilst stripping it for sale.

Replaced the chainstay recently and plan to run it for the mega.

I’ve had zero shock issues though (as he touches wood!).

I really like the bike, the options and the way it rides but can’t keep paying £110 for a chainstay.

Hopefully this is the end of my woes as it is not a warrenty job (2nd hand)

    update…….10 mins comp to comp…..DONE!

with a crappy plastic track pump and no fairy liquid.

    spoke to a couple shops.

    Wire dual ply – 1kg

kevlar dual ply – 750g ish

so it is a dual ply but a folding one.

    now

track pump, flows, tape sealent and a folding DP larsen = ……… i’ll let you know when its done in a minute (too hopeful?)

God knows what they’ll be like in 6 inches of slush!

i don’t think it’ll be much like last year – i’m thinking more ‘exposed rocks with no snow’ from what i understand about the conditions this winter/spring.

Last year with dual ply WTB front and Dual Ply maxxis HR rear. Thick thick tubes. Got one ouncture from a thorn about 2 inchs long! I say ‘thorn’, it was technically a branch i reakon.

This year though – new tubless wheelset, so – dual ply 2.35 minion front and dual ply 2.35 Larsen rear. Both converted to tubeless at high pressure (ie latex inside).

Gonna spend a few days trying it out. If i have any issues i’ve some tubes to chuck in there and last years tires/wheelset as a spare.

Couldn’t turn down the chance to drop 1.3kg in wheelset/tubes and if it works as it should – WIN!

Geax. Good tires for less. Easy choice.

easier in terms of setup or easier in terms of use of the tire (burping etc)?

They won’t be run at low pressures – high high for the mega!

just about to try this (next week) with a new set of flows and 2 non ust dual ply maxxis tires (a 2.35 minion and a 2.35 larsen tt).

Do i just need yellow tape, sealent and a valve?

The rubber rim strips are for non tubeless rims or adding super security to tubeless rims right?

Got an industrial compressor on the farm instead of a track pump 😀

Cheers guys. I did the race last year with 300g freeride tubes and dual plys. Not 1 puncture – and smoked R.Absolon(sp?) when he was having tire issues.

but……….dropping 600g of tubes and 500g of tire is appealing.

Thats alot of rotational weight. Just don’t wanna rip a DD tire and am not sure of their durability.

Quick one – if i went 50/50, ie ran the dual ply maxxis setup tubless, what needs to happen….

Flow rims + yellow tape + Tires + sealent + compressor?

Or do i need to fanny about with rubber strips?

    Hmmmm,

    Also – new question.

The forks i have come with a push lock (at the moment it is disconnected).

I am planning to lower them from 140mm to 100mm and use them for 4x. Obviously i do not need to lock them out so will not be using the push lock.

My question is – by not having this lever connected, am i still able to adjust the compression setting? What am i missing out on by not using the pop lock lever – how could i change it so i have full function of the forks without the lever?

Or – is it literally that i can't lock it out on the fly?

Is this applicable to the 2009 Revelation Dual Air too?
