Ride in the Lakes and across to Caldbeck fells in 2 minutes then cleaning and packing bike ready to fly to Crested Butte on Monday for 3 weeks 🙂 just let myself get excited for the first time and am feeling more than a little giddy!

Wonderful and wonderment are words that always spring to mind, and I’m never sure how I can spend so much time lost in a single page – I can’t remember the story but the words ‘never loose faith in the colour of the sky’ came from one strip and the words pop into my head from time to time and they always seem to keep me good.

I’d echo others please release some prints 🙂

If you’ve not done a fell race before then be prepared for the descents as well the ascents, it places a different kind of strain on your legs compared to road or ‘trail’ running. A bit like biking the speed that a good seasoned fell racer drops during a race is amazing if you are just used to running on the road.
The other obvious thing is navigation, even during a big fell race like Fairfield people still go off course if the clag is down (it’s easy to slip down into Dovedale)so if you can run the course before hand it’ll help.
If you do a couple of smaller races you can soon pick up tips just by watching others as well asking.

Regular lakes rider here using a Ardent 2.25 exo on the back of my full suss. Great tyre, as said above can get a little over whelmed in mud but seen as the lakes is mostly rock it’s not a problem

I’m lakes based +1 for this ^^ for front and back

If you drop down from the light house end it’s a pain! It’s really quite steep in sections with in-situ ropes though bolts to make things easier – if I took a dog that I’d be worried about it taking a tumble. Access from the other end will be easier but little longer.

Sympathies are with you Nigel – Had my Santa Cruz Superlight (black & size medium)on Tuesday in Kendal – outside my house and under my bedroom window! Still no idea how the alarm didn’t go off or how I didn’t hear them. The police said thieves are targeting expensive bikes and breaking them for sale on-line. SCROATS!

Inset days are not taken off the total number days your child should be taught for (190 & teachers are contracted for 195 to include 5 inset days) you should(?) get the monday added into another holiday – if not maybe a chat with the head teacher

The day marks an end to a war and should be treated thus – a chance to reflect why sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers have died. I think on its inception it was to reflect on all those that had fallen regardless of their birthplace and the reasons why. I worry that this reflection forms a lesser part than the grief (which for many is undoubtedly necessary).

Love mine had it for 4 years – 115mm forks – no problems with pedal strikes, been out to the alps a couple of times with it with no real issues; I’m based in the lakes and it’s been tops for riding around here too.

Like the others have said it’s just getting past this bit – once you’ve got the administative side of things sorted it does become much easier and your focus will shift from the paper work to enjoying the classroom.

It sounds like classic stress patterns that you describe, I’m a deputy head and suffer the same fealings unless I make time to be away (completly) from work thoughts (friends, family, exercise etc).
