That’s interesting, I didn’t know that’s what it is, I thought it was more like a carbon version of the aluminium Sirrus.

I loved riding that bike and was really grateful for Evans / Specialized for sorting me out. But thinking about getting another, not sure how practical a choice it is for circa 75 miles a week on the streets of London..

@float – know what you mean, but it wasn’t a massive metal bar – more like a small section of what might have once been a shelf bracket..

@esher shore Thanks for that. I actually asked for you when I took the bike back in, but they said you’d moved on.. I’m still waiting to hear back from them about the cost for replacement frame under crash replacement, but encouraged by what you say about it.

Although am sort of pondering getting something strong and steel and different – like a Surly Cross Check. I’ve broken two Speshs now, and I don’t think I ride them particularly hard – so not sure I want a third! As Jambon says, Sirrus are supposed to be a commuter bikes..

Thanks to other people for carbon repair suggestions. I’d imagined cracks and dents could be patched up, but a whole missing section of seatstay – can that really be done?

Golden Retriever pub is close and it’s got a nice beer garden (if you don’t mind being by the car park), but the food is terrible, IMHO.

Thanks for sorting me out! The new frame is amazing, couldn’t be more pleased with it! I was actually in again yesterday, the shop manager was also really helpful sorting me out with some paperwork for the insurance people in case it gets nicked. Please thank him from me too!

jfletch – sorry if this is a dumb question but where do you put the grease? Around the pistons, when extended or when pushed back in?

Totally agree. Couple of weeks ago found crack in frame of 5 year old alu Specialized Sirrus Comp commuter bike – frame had done over 10,000 miles. Took it into Evans where it was bought from, who were straight on the phone to Specialized.

5 days later I picked up a new carbon fibre Sirrus Pro, with new headset, BB, brakes, mudguards, front mech and Evans built bike and moved all the other components over to the new frame – for nothing.

Amazing customer service from Spesh, and respect to Evans (who I normally don’t have a lot of time for). Buying a Spesh is as close to a ‘frame for life’ as anything..

Second the positive comments. I’ve been to BV twice and had an amazing time on both. Incredible trails, nice people, delicious food..

Wow – I’ve been out in Surrey Hills a few times but never found this trail – anyone kind enough to give a newbie some directions? Off forum if necessary? Thanks.

I flew BA to Geneva with bike last month from Heathrow T5. I also paid for extra bag – took bike in box and checked in bag. It was totally easy, but they were carefully checking weights of all mine (and other people in queue’s) bags. If over weight they were making people repack or pay.
