I got my boys a couple of the Absima 1:16 trucks from RC Geeks, thanks for the recommendations folks. They’re great, but the battery life is woeful. Any idea where I can do better than the stock 7.4v 500mAh batteries? RC Geeks only sell the actual battery fitted in the car.

As for those saying just fit it, I have thought about that, but it’s 3.6kw output instead of 5.5kw and it’s to heat a large old uninsulated room of 68 cu m so I don’t think it gets close. Any advice on correct sizing would be good too! P.S. It’s actually a gas stove, not a log burner, as we want to turn it on and off as it’s an office rather than an all evening room.

Update, this thread has been such a help, hearing all the opinions. I accept that by taking possession, or sending someone to do so on my behalf, I am basically accepting the goods as they are. Having said that, it isn’t obvious at a glance that it is a different model, and takes a bit of digging to find the spec. As others have said, he couldn’t be expected to cover transport to Timbuctoo as he’s selling it from his door. So having had such useful opinions on the matter I was able to take a reasonable stance with him, and we’ve come to an arrangement. He’s going to send me £250 which can be justified as either the difference in value between models, or the transport costs. I will sell the stove and see what I get. He’s even offered to look at sharing any loss I make too, and I will do the same if I happen to sell at a profit, however unlikely that may be.
And I’ve also learned that there are much cheaper options around than I used, just hadn’t properly looked into couriers or pallet services before, so thanks for those suggestions too.

Good point there Nick, that is true.

    @dangeourbrain
I dont see why not, we haven’t fallen out (yet). Why, are you heading North? It’s just a small stove, heavy but small.

Ha ha that would be good. Northampton to Newcastle. I’m an idiot using a man and van in the first place as having checked there are couriers who would be much cheaper. I paid £750 for the fire and £250 for the man and van. A courier, I now realise, would be about £90.
It just irks me that I’m in a hole and the seller gets off with no loss. I see the point that he basically sold it from his door though, its my fault for buying at a distance.

Loving this thread. Is it possible to get the following:
RC buggy / truck for 8 year old
    £75 all in inc controller
    Self build kit ideally
Fast and strong enough to use on grass and gravel and do small jumps.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks

Glad others see my point of view.
It was collection only. I sent a man and van to pick up. Does that mean I’m screwed?
If ebay won’t rule on my courier costs, would it hold any water at the small claims court? The courier both ways will add up to nearly £350.

We had a baby grand piano in our house of similar looking quality. There were millions of pianos made most very nice things. There are some hugely valuable ones out there but unlikely to be left behind by anyone. I contacted three dealers, got offered £200. Sold it on ebay for £350. I’d imagine you’d get a similar price for yours. If you send photos to the dealers you’ll soon know if its worth money because they’ll be keen to talk to you!

Where are you finding it for £1500?

I’m 6ft and have a large, perfect for me. Bags of stand over.

I found one recently under our courtyard. It sounds just the same as mine, it’s a water storage cistern which would have had a pump in the top, usually close to the kitchen. Ours has several vents running out and filling chambers with sedement traps in. It’s huge, 10 ft deep and 8 ft wide. I can’t think what to do with it but I’m not going to fill it in as it would have taken so much work to make. Grey water recycling tank or rainwater harvesting is the number one possibility.

It’s a really slick, hugely improved service. You should be fine. I did two recently, about 11 days each.

This is how we did it when we had 3 booster seats. I used short extenders which didn’t reach past the edge of the seats.

1 to 1 training is great but I found that it would almost be better 2 to 1, otherwise the coach is waiting for you to get back up the hill all the time. Plenty of time for 2 to 1 and more to discuss etc.

I’ve got a Tacx flux. Makes a funny crunching noise when the wheel slows down. Is that normal?

That’s covered a lot of very relevant points Poly, and this is the area I need advice in, rather than just a valuation based on earnings x multiplier.
I’m not sure who to go to for advice now!

The reason I’m asking is because I want to sell my 50% share to the other shareholder but now I’ve given it a bit more thought perhaps a valuation based on earnings is irrelevant.

Yeah, but it’s more complex than that obvs. So about a grand then?

Ubyk has 20% off them at present, I think…

I know, this is too tempting for me, that’s £520 off the R build.  Even with their low value full builds, that’s a tempting offer.

Oh God so you’re saying I’ve either got to risk arrest or have my house burn down.

Oh, had no idea they were illegal.  How exciting knowing that you were dicing with the law every time you made a call.

Wi-fi calling on my phone seems to be worse than normal calling, not sure why.

Anyone know what length steerer I would need for a bluto fork on a Dune?  I’m not near my bike so can’t measure it.

The portrait one suggested above I think.  I’ve got a cartoon style one of my family and I love it. Although the youngest child isn’t on it, so we need an update.

That’s a great home made stand Tracey.  I looked for one like that when I bought mine but couldn’t find one.

They’re great, yes they lean a bit, but my kids love it.  They do tricks like standing on the saddle and sitting backwards.

Garden hose over the headtube U clamps works a treat – no scratches.

No idea.  But more importantly what should I do with the Grifter? – Powder coat or original as possible paint job?

I’m pretty sure the term is garden leave, incorrectly changed to gardening leave by most people.

    Carry on.

Yes you could call it the contaminated allotment or something equally appetising.

Hi, I just read this entire thread.  It basically took me my whole holiday Sat by the pool.

During that time, I bought a stock Dune on eBay.  I haven’t  taken delivery yet.  My question is this, would I be able to ride the London to Brighton off road on it with my friends on hardtail mtbs, or will I struggle?  I’m not Bradley Wiggins.

I just bought my 4 year old an Early Rider Belter 16 on ebay.  I struggle to keep up with him now.  The difference over the Ridgeback Mx16 is amazing, and that was a decent bike.  It weighs under 6kgs or something.  Really impressed with it.
