    Get a non-flip mattress.
I got one that needs flipped regularly and it is a total pain, and if you don’t do it regularly, you end up sleeping in a groove/hole!

About the obviously wrong speeds etc… on segments, if the maker of the segments gps data is wrong, then that is what will give the segment false speeds &/or false elevation making it look dodgy.
All you need to do is (if you want) remake the segment using your data which may be more accurate than the original and that should fix the problem.

    Not me!
I got mine in November and have never been off it since as its my do everything bike, which now includes chaingangs.
Riding the fatty for the last 6 months has made me fitter than I have been in years, so there is no way Im going to stop now just because the weather isn’t quite as shitty!

I hope you’re going to post this on runners and walkers forums too?!

I used to always listen to music, but I also used to always have a look around me regularly to see what was going on, there is no excuse not too.

Yeah, triple and only 9 speed, its a retro build!
It was done on a very small budget, and I managed to get down to 9.8kg so far. An XT cassette should knock another 150 grams off alone, so that will be next I think.

    Link as requested.
I’ll not lie, I really wasn’t expecting to get any as Im still carrying a large amount of my winter insulation!

The amount of grip on the Fatty does scare me a bit, as I find myself pushing a lot more than I normally would on descents.
This is a very gravelly, twisty and scary fast one which I am so close to getting on the Fatty!

You need to train properly for crits, like doing 10 second sprints every 30 seconds for around 12mins x2. That’s what I used to do, hard and hurt like hell, but it certainly made the constant sprinting out of corners in crits a lot easier, it helped in road races too.

Position is also, as you know, a thing you will have to work on.
Are you in a club where you can ask for advice or go along to training sessions?

Yeah, go for it, you’ll be fine.
The lacquer/resin will be quite thick anyway, so you probably wont hit actual carbon, just don’t take too much off.
You can get carbon polish, its a lot easier to polish than lacquer it.

Did you take the reservoir cap off when you taped them?
I did the same as you just a few weeks ago, but opened the cap too and it was like new a few hours later.

I live by the beach, you should see the crap that gets left behind when there is a sunny day!
Luckily, there is a tractor which cleans up the beach every day (we didn’t always have one), but riding/walking along the prom in the evening after the dirty pigs have left is just disgusting.

It’d be a waste buying some slicks to only use once, get some Conti Race Kings.
I did the Ken Laidlaw 100 mile sportive on them last year, they roll really well and you can still use them when you’re finished.
My top gear for that was 42×11 and it was good enough to keep up with the fast group, so unless that is your plan, then your 34×11/12 will probably be fine.

Im not sure how many are planning to ride, but if you think you might be in a group, then possibly narrower bars might be an idea.

You’ll find some on ebay for under £20.
My £13 ones have done a few thousand miles on them and I haven’t died yet.

Ordered Thursday, posted with Yodel Friday, arrived Saturday afternoon.
I would be very happy with this order if it wasn’t for the nearly 30 bloody “Confirm Subscription” emails I have had in the few days since!

I had a creaking noise for ages which I was positive was coming from the BB area, after weeks of cleaning and re-greasing everything, I decided to clean the pawls, and that fixed the problem.
It turned out to be little bits of dirt that had got in there, silent bike once again.

Not all fakes are made the same, so some lenses could fit in one pair, but not another.
Why not just buy another pair from ebay with 3 sets of lenses.

I should’ve said, I have just repaired someones chainstay where chain stuck had ripped off all the top layers of carbon to reveal the soft Kevlar fabric underneath.
They continued to finish the race season and then brought it to me to patch it up, and now it looks like new.
Chainstay are one of the strongest parts of a bike.

I may do this myself in the future, Ridewill is the place to get them.[/url]
Click on the 100 (mm) in the “Case” search/filter, they have 6 to chose from in different lengths.

My mate hit an a*hole last year when he decided to just run cross in front of us despite there being a crossing about 20 feet away.
My mates bike was pretty battered (needed new front wheel, fork, handle bar and has now bought a new frame as he doesn’t trust the crashed one) as was he, police were not interested at all unless there was a motor vehicle involved or ambulance was required.
Had witnesses, but that didn’t help as the guy just walked off.

My advice, if you’re going to hit someone, make sure to them hard enough to get an ambulance out as that seems to be the only way the police “might” turn up, sadly!

I have several of these, you can find them on ebay too.
I even cut the arms of one to make a lightweight gilet.
You can get them with hoods too if you need it.
They pack really small, could fit inside a tennis ball.
100% waterproof, but as you would expect, not that breathable if you’re putting a lot of effort in, but perfect for just keeping in you pocket just in case.

I don’t have a dog, but I have been watching the Dog Whisperer on Pick TV.
Its pretty impressive how quickly he can sort dogs out most of the time, well worth a watch if you can get that channel.

    The “Mobile” Device thing.
If its a phone, then its an app, but if its a gps which Strava don’t support, then its marked as Mobile.
I have a Bryton Rider50/Dakota20 and those go under the Mobile tag.

I got my Fatty in November and have just changed the front pads after about 1100 miles.
Despite what I have heard and read, I have had no issues whatsoever, so far…
I regularly clean my bike and it stays indoors.

You kinda answered your own question.
I get the same noise when using sprockets on my cassette which rarely get used, those sprockets are basically new, while your chain is not and worn to the other sprockets, if you get my meaning?!

I usually find/make segments that are off the beaten track and they can be really silly at times, but they’re well worth a go ~ 35% ave grade!
