While I can see where you’re coming from, you are effectively saying I am not allowed to sell my Chinese frame or my Cargo bike on ebay because they don’t have frame numbers!
While a good idea for some, its a stupid idea for others.

Piercings are bad enough, but what about tattoo’s!

    Yes.
I have this one and it let me know which battery’s I had that were good and what were good for he bin, plus it also brought serveral of my battery’s back to life.
NiMH battery’s DO have memory, and if you don’t have a decent charger, then you’re missing out.

Have you got a decent charger?

Just remake the segment yourself and it’ll show up with everyone’s times on it, but there is nothing to stop someone flagging it again.
If you don’t think it should be flagged, just contact CS and let them know there is nothing wrong with it, Ive done that before.

If you’re using the light as your only light, then protected battery’s are not the way to go as they will just shut the light off without warning.
Better to get non-protected and understand when to change the battery yourself, usually its around 60 mins with an XM-L light on high.

The chargers will/should work any way around.

On the plus side, the batteries that have been supplied are 4200mAh rather than 2400mAh.

Not sure if you’re being serious or not!

If not, there is no such thing as a 4200mAh 18650, if that picture is the battery which has 4200 on it, then you’ll be lucky if it has 500mAh in it, but I would recommend just throwing that thing away and buying decent battery’s.

How do you know when a rider, lorry or bus is behind you? Or are you constantly swivelling your head once every 10 seconds or so?

Yes, of course Im always looking behind me for what is coming, you don’t?!
Sadly, when riding with others/friends, they rarely check behind them as often as they should, are you one of those?

Just because you come up behind people who aren’t paying attention, it doesn’t mean they have headphones in, a lot of the time for me, they don’t.

Please explain to me why deaf people shouldn’t be allowed to ride, walk etc…?

Loads of muppets walking, walking dogs, jogging, riding bikes – all completely and utterly oblivious to anything or anyone coming up behind them.

    This +lots

Also blocking out your only method of sensing impending danger from behind or to the side when cycling seems particularly crazy

Yeah, I think deaf people shouldn’t be allowed out either!
I have listened to music while cycling for over a decade now, and never once has it affected my ability to use my EYES to see/check what is going on around me, if anything, it has made me more aware of what’s going on around me.
I have seen lot of people being oblivious to what is going on around them, earphones in or not.
If you’re not confident/experienced enough to wear them when cycling, then don’t.

These are what you want for exercise.
They are cheap enough to have several pairs with different music for your mood and are fine in the rain with the bonus of no wires 🙂

Its messed up because whoever set up that segment, their GPS was wrong and Strava uses that data and ignores any correct data from anyone else who rides it afterwards.
I really don’t understand why people make up these pointlessly short segments, but if you want, you can just make a new segment using your own (correct!) data and it will fix the bs readings.
Ive done the same before ~

    Haha, no!
Home made disc from an old screw on freewheel I had that was just gathering lots of dust 🙂

Front wheel was a broken one I bought from ebay very cheaply, and fixed.

    Bloody video wont work.

It was going to be a single speed, but I was just building it with parts I had lying about, so it turned into a Double speed!
I can only lock the rear mech as far as the 14 tooth which makes steep hills pretty hard.
Its more of winter bike, hence the reflective strips, which are black until light hits them. Need to get mudguards soon though.

    Yeah, as above.
The battery’s are 2600mAh and they seem to be in packs of four.
You don’t need massive voltages to run XM-L’s, my single cell (18650) is just as bright as my 2 cell light, just with a shorter runtime.

I use TT for my Dakota maps ~ talkytoaster.

A tip if you get one and for any one with a Dakota 10/20, for longer battery life, turn off the screen, so you have to press it to get it on (you can select how long it stays on for) and the runtime on a pair of AA’s can be 5-10+ times longer than the standard 15-20hrs.

175’s on MTB, 180’s on road bikes, Im 5.9″ with short legs, but I do like using big gears.
Its all about preference and your riding style/feel, ignore all the bs leg measurements etc…

Best to get name brand ones, I got 7DayShops own brad and their capacity was shit, about 40% less than advertised, but you get what you pay for.
The latest Sanyo LSD are good.

I guess you’ll always get a few idiots trolling when they’re bored.

It made perfect sense to me.

It will work fine if you’re happy to do the work making it. With the cheap prices from HK, I just prefer buying mine all made up.
I have a 9x XM-L flashlight on the way which will take over from the 3x XM-L one that I use all the time.

You should be fine with 3 battery’s, but it all depends on what sort of runtime you’re after anyway?
In my experience with non-regulated XM-L’s lights, you’ll get usable light for about an hour on high, 2hrs on med and 10-20hrs on low.

They are advertised as 1800 lumens and I can believe it.

They’ll be 700-800 lumens max, each.

There are dozens of threads about these on here and few mods to make them better/safer.
Just remember, you get what you pay for, don’t charge them unattended, like when you’re sleeping.

If I were you guys, I would go to the police and make sure he gets a criminal record for what he has been up to because if for some miracle he does in fact give you guys your money back, it is almost guaranteed he will do this to others in the future, because he is clearly a liar.

That means they’re being blinded, I hope you aimed them down?

I have always used tape, but Im going to be a team mechanic next year and need to be gluing them on, so I had a look and found this very simple way of doing it with limited use of messy glue ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCvSa5_RwyU

Years ago I hit a pothole on my cheapish road bike and put a gash in the side wall of my tyre, went in to get a new tyre and came out with a Trek 5200!!

    Chris Boardman – 45.57 on 29th May 1993 – Course: H25/13 Average Speed = 32.644mph

25mile time trial. that’s nuts i can’t really get my head round that, i know what it’s like to sit in a group at 22mph and even go solo for 24mph for a short period of time but those kind of times are beyond comprehension.

Bare in mind, while top TT’ers are very fast, those times are usually done on stupidly dangerous roads with very heavy traffic (H23/13 was shut down for being to dangerous!), it was also a 2 mile downhill start!
