In one post you say you’ve bought a bike and in this one you say you’re asking questions as part of your buying process!
Have you bought a bike, yes or no?

You cant get much cheaper and simpler to set up than this.
I just got one and I like my bass, and its great for the price.
It all depends on what “on the cheap” means, as its going to be different for everyone!

I should’ve made it clear that I only do that during the day, I would never use strobe when its dark as that would just blind people.
I actually used my strobe yesterday to stop a head-on as someone thought they’d drive through me as they tried to overtake a bus on my side of the road!

In my experience, quite a lot of people do look, but all it takes is a lapse on concentration or your mind being elsewhere for it to happen.
I tend to use my bike light on strobe if I am going to be going through traffic in the hope that helps a bit.

No, you walk all day pivoting off the ball of your foot. In fact, all of your life. The body is pretty well adapted to this, so it makes sense to put a clear there.
Is this some elaborate barefoot running troll?

Why exactly are you comparing walking to cycling? :/
The forces you put your legs and ankles through when cycling is something you would NEVER be able to do while walking or running.

Why don’t you actually read some of the links that were posted up and if you don’t get it, then fine, not everyone understands the benefits or how much sense it makes.
If you do find it hard to understand, why not do some reading about it or ask some questions like a normal person would do instead of trying to debunk something you don’t understand.

I just got one this weekend, and it looks like the only thing that might work is “Alert” which you’ll find under “Settings”.
Full manual, page 37.

They’re hard to find, here’s some on Amazon US.

For anyone looking for more info/testing, Joe Friel has the results plus lots of Q&A.
And another test on Cycling News.

There are only a few Pro road cyclists using Mid-sole, but loads of tri-athletes and a few mtb’ers.
Here’s World Champ etc…….Susanne Ljungskog, who has been using them since around 2006 from what i can tell ~

As others have said, there is no way that could happen on the bike.
It looks more like someone has stood on it, even the inner rim looks buckled!
If someone hasn’t stood on it (most likely), then he’s maybe left it laying against something very hot.

I have seen quite a few damaged carbon wheels and I would never believe that braking or hitting a pothole could do that.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he dropped a dumbbell on it!

seen lots of people stick to RHS with right indicator on then indicate left and cross the whole roundabout immediately after the entrance before their exit,

Did you read what I said!
I NEVER said anywhere that I would be in the RH/inside lane, I said I would be in the outside lane, there is NO empty lane for someone to pull into, I am in it.

What’s your opinion on the above video? Apparently, it was the car driver at fault, despite following the “I don’t have to indicate if I am not coming off rule!”

If you’re in the outside lane and you’re going to be passing exits but not taking them, why not just put your right indicator on to let people know!

sbob – Member

Because you might get a driver ahead pulling out onto the roundabout to take their next exit, thinking you are going to continue around the roundabout when you’re not.
This is extremely bad practise, and I have witnessed it a few times despite never having coming across anywhere this is taught.

I think you’re miss reading what I mean and I don’t get why you think someone would pull out in front of me if I was doing that! Nobody EVER has.
If I was in the OP’s position, I would’ve been in the inside lane (same as the op), but I would’ve indicated right to show I wasn’t coming off at the first exit, but then when I passed the first exit, I would’ve indicated left.

I think the main problem here is that its a two lane exit, if it had just been a single lane exit, then nobody could cut in front of anyone to come off.

While it appears by the highway code that you’re not advised to, it certainly doesn’t hurt to let people know.
If I am in the outside lane, I always indicate right if I’m coming up to an exit I’m not taking, mostly because I don’t want people pulling out in front of me because they think I might be turning left but just didn’t bother indicating.

ps.
The m/c shouldn’t really have cut across you anyway, but an indicator may have helped him decide what to do.

The OP’s road position and lack of indication were fine.

While the road position was fine, did I miss the bit where the OP indicated right to show he wasn’t going off at the first exit?!
That’s one of the problems at roundabouts, nobody seems to like to indicate.
If you’re in the outside lane and you’re going to be passing exits but not taking them, why not just put your right indicator on to let people know!

Ah, got you.
Yeah, just a standard plate cut in half. You can actually buy a two bolt one instead of cutting the standard 4 bolt one in half, or you could just use a nut and washer!
For drilling the holes, I just try and make sure its as straight as possible and mark the holes then drill away.

What do you mean adaptor?
All you need to do is line up where the cleats will go and drill a couple of holes.
Until a found carbon, my shoes were a bit of a pain to do. Having a carbon kit really makes it a lot easier to do things like that.
But, because of where the cleat goes, you have to make sure you can still pedal and not have the toe box hit the crank.

Willber
Mid sole cleats are actually very helpful if you have any Achilles issues as the ankle and calf are not needed for pedalling.

Go for it, Ive been using them for about 5 years now and its free power and better efficiency, so its a no brainer.
Saddle hight does have to go down a fair bit though.
My awesome super lightweight home made mid sole cleat shoes 🙂

Ha Ha…thanks Big Jim. In fairness to the King this one was was up the kirkgate, and on rechecking the top 4 are all within 30 seconds of him. No cheating involved sadly.

Its just that I’m very slow in comparison!

Hes obviously just a climbing machine.

Damn you Paul Sharp…:-)

Ah, Paul Sharp, my competition!

Absolutely useless as a bike lane projector.
While you and your mates who are cycling beside you can see the light, it is invisible to drivers, and if the road is damp/wet, then its even more so.
While its an okay idea, the lines are to thin to be visible.
Just get a decent light and don’t bother with the gimmicky rubbish 😉

bland, this is the ad from Virgin that got me a bit annoyed. I was getting really pissed that new customers were always getting better deals than me, Ive been with Virgin for around 15+ years.
My latest bill was £57 with XL TV & Phone and 10mb BB (that apparently included a loyalty discount!!), after 40mins on the phone Im now getting the essential bundle for £34.
I dropped down a TV level because its just repeats all the time and the phone too, but now I will get a TiVo box (Virgin wanted to charge me extra if I wanted to add that to my previous service!) 30mb BB, Wireless hub, and that’s when he told me about the cheaper pay yearly phone line payment.

Helen, I don’t really understand what the issue is!
In these times, I think paying £120 a year instead of £179.88 (if you pay monthly) sounds like an easy bit of money saving and quite frankly, if you see something wrong with that, then you may have other issues 😉

Maybe he’s just a bit pissed off with you harassing him!
You should give any post a week before even emailing the sender.
I bought a seat post during summer (good weather, no snow), and it still took RM 14 working days (the max before its declared lost!) before they got it to me, it was sent 1st or 2nd class recorded.
You paid by PP, so you’re not going to lose money, just have patience.

I just hope you guys aren’t getting to excited by the “Chinese lumens” figures!
Expect the triple XM-L light to put out around 1000 Lumens max. It will be plenty bright enough, just don’t buy into these stupid lumens figures that go up and up every month just to con people into buying them.

Its not just the weight, do a bit of research and you’ll find out.

lightman
Free Member

Those weight a ton and don’t really look that aero.
For 299, you should be getting wheels that weight around 1500 grams and 50-60mm deep if you’re after an aero wheel set.
You would be better getting some second hand wheels from ebay.

You’re right about the battery pack, they may work, but are cheapest crappiest batterys they can put together. Sometimes they are even reclaimed laptop batterys!

Remember, a 18650 is 3.7v nominal and 4.2v fully charged, hence the 8.4v, so the way you said is what you need to make.
You will also need to add a protection circuit to them too.

Or, you could get a ready made pack from Smudge.

ps.
I wouldn’t recommend you try and solder Li-ion unless you really know what you’re doing. If you do it wrong or heat the battery up to much….well, an explosion may be on the cards!

I dont run, but I use Mid Sole Cleats and its something you should consider as it is very beneficial for Triathletes and Duathletes.
Slowtwitch discussion.
Joe Friel, super coach.
Plus there are hundreds of discussions about it if you Google “Mid sole cleat”.

These scammers have been at it for ages, and they always hack shops with lots of items for sale as they are less likely to notice it.
After you report them, ebay dont take long to remove them.

Good effort, but he sounds like a bit of a tool for not reporting it to the police. Those guys probably just went and robbed some other poor sod who couldn’t defend themselves because the police weren’t looking for them straight away!

My mate gave me his bike to sell a few years ago and his post (when I eventually managed to get it out!) was like this too.
It was his winter/summer training bike.
As above, its Galvanic Corrosion.

I really don’t get why people chime in on a subject they know nothing about and give totally wrong advice, and think they’re right!

Carbon repair is pretty straight forward for a company who knows what they’re doing, and that crack is something most competent people could probably do themselves.
Gallery.
How to do it yourself.

Im always on the look out for broken carbon stuff on ebay, but have yet to find a broken frame that would fit me, so far I have only bought and repaired a Zipp 440 which had a spoke ripped through the rim.
On ebay you should expect to get £50-£100 for the frame, you might get more if you get a couple bidding against each other, but £190 is totally unrealistic if you can get another identical frame for double that.

Everything is theoretically repairable but it has been written off by the manufacturers as broken

Its just like most accident damaged cars, the manufacturer has decided its not worth their time/money to repair it, but if someone has the time and experience, they can do it themselves.
This frame/most carbon frames don’t cost much in the first place, so its not really worth their time to repair it, unless it is of course a really top end frame.
