    Not very talkative is he.

Thats because it is very likely he is just one of those weird spammers/bot that sign up to forums for what seems like no reason!

Wouldn’t like to take the chance that the repair is weaker than it needs to be.. and it breaks at the most inconvenient moment..

Just get it professionally done then. Carbon repairs done correctly are always stronger than the area its repairing.
Yours is on the lighter side of what most repairers do. Ive seen bikes split in half be repaired!

That is in a really easy place to fix, either buy a kit and do it yourself, or I cant imagine it costing any more than £60 to get it professionally done.

Very unlikely to come with cleats at that price.
Those pedals without cleats have been around that price for years, it helps save money when you don’t need cleats too.

Dunno why folks a re so shocked at £1000 for a bumper, they’ve not really been bumpers for years now, much more part of the bodykit. £1000 for a full repair is not sureprising, sure if it was your own money, you would find a much cheaper fix. But the £1000 is to fix it as though nothin had ever happened, as it should be.

    So £1000 is quite normal

    Exactly.
I had a head on with a campervan on my mtb in November, just got the bill and it was £1200! Im sure a lorry, even at slow speed could do a lost more damage than me.

That did occur to me, but they both looked at me as I cycled past them. So I have a feeling he may have told his mate about the cyclist that just screamed at him after he overtook him!

He lost his lead out man, tucked in behind the Veelers and Kittel. Once Veelers has done his job he should get out of the way. What actually happens is he turns around, sees Cav and lets himself drift that way to block him. Cavendish gives what he gets. Racing.

What an utter pile of shite, neither one of them did anything deliberately.

Watch the video, he is pretty buggered after doing his turn, moves a bit left, then slowly moves a bit right. It just unfortunate that he moved into the path cav was taking to get on the wheel in front.

Once the lead out man has done his job, he either swings well out off the way, or if he cant, he should hold a straight line because he knows sprinters will/could be coming either side of him. Watching where he is relative to the white line, you see can see that he goes one way then drifts the other way.
As cav demonstrated, you dont want to get in the way of a sprinter coming from behind you, hence the reason you keep going as straight as possible when you have done your turn.

Try it yourself, go out and give everything you have for 30-60 seconds and then see how straight a line you can hold when you’re finished.

No, I tend to have enough brains to slow down coming up to a blind corner or any areas with poor visibility!
It sounds like you were both made for each other 😉

This is a previous thread about them with pictures.

It is easy enough to make your own without spending silly amounts of money using either mtb shoes or cheap modified football boots!
I already had the carbon kit (£40) and the football shoes cost under £25 delivered from ebay, so I had a super light pair off cycling shoes for not much money.

    I went from these ~

    to these ~

I still use the mtb ones daily.

This was my 2.0l petrol/lpg just before I sold it.[/url]
I loved mine and it was perfect, not to big, not to small.
It did have rust on the chassis, so make sure you have a good look under there.
I had mine for 4 or 5 years and it was great for just loading the bike/s in the back and getting away for a few day or a week of wild camping.

Going lower and longer usually makes you more aero and will not make you more powerful.
Lets see a picture of your bike.

Yeah, it threw me off a bit when the start looked very promising with 2 nice big easy to open gates and a nice bit of gravelly path to start me of with, but it just got worse and worse.
But yep, would be good on normal mtb though 🙂

mcmoonter, deff do it, but its all about the bike!
This was my first ever tour, so I was still getting the hang of where and when to take pictures, so not that many/interesting ones, but I think you should be able to see these.
The Garmin route details are at the bottom of the album.

After Loch Rannoch, I had planned to go over to Loch Ericht and up the side of that, but after “The Path”, I decided to play it safe and just go along the road.

What was so nightmare-ish about the Glen Lyin to Rannoch path?

And dear lord, how much gear did you take? When you say short, do you mean several months?

    Cheers

    Sanny

While the path would’ve been not to bad for a mtb or a lighter bike, for my bike (about 85+kg) it was terrible because of the rocks and boulders that were sticking out of the ground. I was getting bounced around all over the place making traction very difficult, and because some of the sections were over 20%, it was just not the best place for that bike.
I actually broke one of my 48 rear spoke on the section!
Oh, and it was during the short hot spell, so it was around 25c and with no wind either, I was dripping with sweat!

While I did take a lot of gear, I think it just looks more when its all in one bag (one bag was much cheaper than 4x waterproof panniers), plus I was planning on being self sufficient for my 3/4 day cycle up to Rothes, so I had all my food plus more just in case. I only needed to get water on the way.

Here’s a picture looking back along the path, and the absolute nightmare which greeted me at the other end!

Even skinny walkers would struggle to get through this~

Around 45mins of getting eaten by midges before I managed to get through. I will be taking a hacksaw next time a go on tour!

Why would anyone on Gumtree do Paypal?
I have sold a fair bit on Gumtree and would never let anyone pay me that way, Gumtree is meant to be local face to face selling/buying.

Yeah, you have to look through the “All A-Z”. That’s how I found it one day cos I was that bored!

Maybe its free on Sky if you pay for the movie package, so not really free 😉

Ive got a Yuba Mundo Version1.
I did a short tour up north last year, which is the reason I bought it for because I wanted a bike that would be almost impossible to break on tour no matter what shitty road/path I went along!

Nightmare path from Glen Lyon to Loch Rannoch.

Was kinda worth it though, Loch Rannoch.

When not touring, it is in (80kg or 100kg) training bike mode!

And over winter, it is in wood collecting mode.

While I wouldn’t say its changed my life, it has certainly made it easier now I no longer have a vehicle.

Lots of people use Mundo’s etc for wheeling their kids about ~

    Loads more pics.

I have M+ and they’re all under “TV for M+”, so should be under the larger TV packages too.

I use stuff like this in black.
The black stuff is perfectly fine and will light up as soon as any light hits it, plus if you have a black bike, it doesn’t make it look a mess during the day if you had multi coloured tape on it.
This is my winter bike using a flash and you can see everywhere the tape is ~

You should have a look at the Bryton Rider range, <some second hand ones on ebay.
I managed somehow to get a second hand Rider 50 for £75 🙂
You download your ride to the Bryton site and then save the TCX file (from your ride) onto you computer and then you upload it to Strava.

Im happy enough with mine and it is really straight forward to use.

    Bryton web site.

The driver was clipping solid white lines and was passing too close to the cyclists he was overtaking. And there were also sitting too close before the overtake.

And that is why you should watch it on Youtube so you can read the “About” part from the video ~

Apparently cyclists are hard to see and react to on A-roads. Some people will say that they shouldn’t be on A-roads because the traffic is too fast, and they don’t have enough time to adjust and safely pass the cyclist. Other excuses includes very low sunlight, which must make it difficult to see….

*This video is about cycling in the daylight
*The camera is WIDE-ANGLED and on the left of the car so its not always obvious how much room I gave the cyclists – in ALL cases it was more than 3ft!
    * Comments are set to Approved – get lost trolls

If you like bigger gears, get bigger cranks, you can still easily spin them if you want.
But really, anyone your height should be at least using 175mm or you’re wasting the energy from the long levers (legs) you have.
Im on 180’s and 5’9″ with short legs.

Just use them and put some sealant in them.
I got a puncture in my non-repairable Conti and put some sealant in and it has been fine and raced on without issues.

With a bit of sealant, they’re a bit like tubeless and you shouldn’t have to worry about pinch flats/glass etc…
But always take a spare with you just in case, you can get usable second hand ones quite cheaply.

My tubs are taped on (they came that way on second hand wheels), but when I change them, I will use glue as its really pretty simple and not that complicated as some instructions make out.
Have a bit of glue on the spare, and that will stick good enough to get you home, or will be enough for a out and back TT with no sharp fast corners if you can get enough air in it!

Tubs are quick easy to get on and off with a bit of practise.

Oh, and if you prefer tape, then tape will be fine. Tyres will not come of the rim using tape.
Im sure some manufacturers will void your warranty if you use Tufo tape as its too sticky!
I tried to remove a mates tyre that was stuck with Tufo tape and I could not get it off, that has never happened to me before!

if you’re in a line then everything should be done at the back, like taking a drink

    Really!
If your bike handling skills are so poor that you can’t drink without endangering others around you, maybe you shouldn’t be riding with others!

Can a frame with so much damage be repaired, the shop say it cannot, but maybe they have a vested interest in flogging me another one.

Maybe time to look for a new shop or give them links to repairers and educate them!

I have seen pictures of bikes that have been broken in two, and they have been repaired.
Your repair should cost no more than £100 not including postage if needed.
Or, buy a repair kit and do it yourself!

I can confirm it was like an ice rink when the rain started, I nearly rode over my team mate when he went down.
Im sure it rained last year when the pro’s were racing and they were falling all over the place, but I cant find a clip of it anywhere 🙁

Just remember, a fall in the 2011 Tour put him out. Im sure that’s still sitting in the back of his mind.
A whole season/year of building up for it only for it to be wiped out that easily, I know I might be a bit wary descending if I was constantly falling and see lots of other riders falling around me too.
