As a Borderer I am all for investment. Maybe spend the 19 mil on trail maintenance.

Id go Moxie 29er or a Norco Torrent. The Moxie climbs really well and is really fast/stable in 29er form. I swapped the Moxie for the Torrent and I would say it is much better in steep terrain. It is not just about one thing though. The Torrent/BFE Max have nothing on the Moxie IMO climbing.

Lets just see how the rates go the next 3 weeks. See what the response is then. Rates up and hell just open it up for the greater good. :P

Curious to what was up with the Optic? I hammered mine before it got stolen. Great riding bike. Had it one season though.

I keep a Bluepig as a backup bike. They are fun.

Ffs I’m depressed. All I want to do is hit Golfie with the laddie.

It’s not even that far away.

How far is far? I am in Heriot. Down the valley 10 clicks, rural. Back door into Caberston and I do not even go. Should be fine should it not?

    Yep, interesting indeed.

I wonder how/when the government/experts will make the flip to not looking at case numbers as the indicator of trouble

With how this virus spreads and when you are free to move about with services open in your council area and vaccines down to 40 should yield some interesting data.

England now with schools back open, lets see what happens.

Better grab that last 2020 C2 Norco optic!

I guess the next few weeks with schools opening we will see what happens to the infection rates. No doubt the numbers will rise. Also after April. Will be an interesting few weeks. Seeing the vaccine work on lowering case numbers vs just lockdown restrictions.

The Norco Optic 2020 is excellent for around Stirling. So much zip but you will ride most stuff with it.

About the same weight as the 141, I would go with a Banshee Prime V3. Frames available. Rides fast everywhere. You will climb to Dumyat etc easily and rip down back.

I have used Rimpacts since they came out. Love the damped out feel on long rough downs. Never had a puncture for years with them until this last week. Tore my double down DHR2. Usually It is easy to get the tire off. Never had an issue changing them out and getting the tire off. Also have had good luck with tyre and rim combos. Always installed by hand, barely a tyre lever. I could not get the tyre off this time. Snapped all my levers. Made space. Moved the beads to centre of the wheel. It was weird. This summer I got some long high elevation rides planned and its no inserts for me this time. Haha sods law demo a wheel!

Procore is good I just found it a bit tedious checking all the pressures before every ride. My inner tubes would lose quite a bit of psi over a week. Was using 80/15 in the Tweed Valley on a commencal meta 4.2 am and it was a really fun grippy setup. Have some PRs that I cant get close to still.

I have a pair on my 2018 YT capra and banshee rune V3. Very light and stiff. Comparing to any am/enduro sram/shimano/DMR/RF crank. Paired with the hellbender BB been set and forget for wet Scottish riding.

With them I got my capra to under 14.5kg and it ended up being my long distance bike. Climbing it I was like nah, no way. Felt fresher at the top over my old Norco Optic 125mm.

Never ever had massive 2.6″ MSC grippers ever touch a stay on the moxie. Back end of the moxie feels pretty stiff for me. 94kg loaded up. Tweed valley riding.

Put on 27.5 tires for my GF and works a treat. Did not even change the fork. Left the dvo 29er on there. She loves it.

My rune V3 is one of the best climbing bikes I have ridden for its travel. It is not far off my 2020 optic 125mm rear travel 29er. Better than most other Am, trail bikes I have spent time on. The KS2 platform works really well. If I was all about raw speed over the rough stuff or racing I would go with the Titan. I find the Rune a lot more playful. The Titan I feel climbs better than the Privateer 161 and feels better on downs. Smoother for sure.

I got a 2015 B220 4matic. Brabus tuning. It hauls in the snow. Has flush mount roof rack points so you can get some good low aero bars.

Even in stock form 2.2 pulls well and you will hit 130-145 np. No issues at all 45k miles. The interior is really hard wearing after many bike trips. Also do not get tired driving it on long journeys. Prior to lockdown, Lemans etc.

I have a long FM frame. Tested it all last summer and in the Tweed Valley. My build with the DVO diamond fork and jade X comes in at 16kg. You are not going be fast on this climbing. Sure it is plenty supportive and comfortable and maybe on big days out that is ideal. Just sit and spin. If you really get on the pedals on the climbs I find I just tire myself out. My YT Capra climbs faster, say from the Innerleithen car park to Minch Moor. Which I still scratch my head at. It is not all about the speed up though. If you sit and spin with the FM you will arrive at the top in a good state.
It is a really lively frame on the flat and steel has a great pop to it. It is fun to ride no doubt. Easy to place etc. It also jumps really good! Where I find it lacking is if you hit very steep rocky terrain with drops etc. I find the suspension platform packs down pretty quick. Some of the Innerleithen trails and at Caberston you will find this. It can handle it sure but I would not say it is as fun as my Capra on that type of terrain.
It would not be my main bike. It is very well made and looks amazing. It will last longer than you. The simplicity of it and easy maintenance, massive mud clearance around the stays and all pivots is something to consider. The ride feel is fun. All round it may work for some but maybe too tame for my tastes.
