    Cool pic!

Contin is great. Nice parking too. Easily spend a few hours and a few nice walks. Climb is easy and good for a few laps.

Bike looks really capable and well setup for that area. Which will see hard use.

Mmmmm going against the grain here… but it looks well… Not very nice really. It may be exceptionally functional, effective, whatever you want… but.. It’s very Skoda Fabia in terms of looks/aesthetics. There’s nothing that jumps out and says “buy me”… Sure it may have the reach for Orangutans that many now seem to want… But meh, i’m just not jumping up and down.

Guys posts his bike and you just jump his ass? We need to jump that POS celery trek (actually skoda weiner of a bike!) that will not go away.

I would recommend a ragley for the tame riding down there.
    More bike than you need.

Is the Remedy a bit stronger? Take a bit more of a beating?

I have a Morph FS Mullet 140F/140R travel bike and there is not much I wouldn’t take it down up up here. The agility and easy speed. 90% of the time will take it over my bigger bikes (Titan, Slash)

The fuel may be the perfect bike for down there. How does that rear shock hold up when it is rough?

You ever thought about a Remedy?

I think you should get a LLS hardtail and send it down the DH.

Nice slayer, that’s a bike that will make you smile. Really fun.

Yeah sorry man I crossthreaded with the NBD thread.

That fuel pretty fast up and down though. I think you will miss it.

I think we’ve missed something here.

Sorry meant to say the Canyon Torque or NP Giga. You are looking for long travel rig yeah?

The Chinese trail casing has amazing traction while still rolling and wearing well. Have not flatted yet or blown a side wall. Even after BPW trip. Can only imagine what the stickier German casings will be like.

Maybe you will laugh but I think my Suntour Zeron 150mm runs better than my Z1 coil/36 Push ACS and air Zeb. So much traction and in steep choppy terrain feels great.

That Canyon Torque would of been ideal.

For the steeps of Dollar and GlenSherup I have had great luck with the trail 2.4 Argotal on the back with a rimpact. Use a maxgrip DH assegai upfront with no insert. Impressed with rear control and confidence of the trail casing. Jump to turns or catch berms in steeper terrain and it just finds traction to where in the past I was like OMG I will die. May put the Argotal Dh 2.4 up front but I do not want to change how it is feeling at the minute. Superstitious like that. Do not see the need for the softer compounds. I like how supportive the trail casing tread area is. It really digs in. Also rolls really well on the climbs.

Gone coil for the winter. Do not fancy suspension sag in the snow.

I really liked my old Vitus Sommet

The old Sommet/Escarpe had one of the best feeling suspension platforms over the rough stuff and in very steep terrain. Still used on the current Dominer. Dirt praised it too. The new one is good climber and more all round updated bike. I am curious to see how long the new gen frames last. I hope they get a an AL option to be a bit greener so it ultimately will not end up in the trash. Maybe could be chopped up used in GRC. :P

Vitus seem to be coming out with a new short travel bike soon. keen to see.

I remember this story vacationing with family in his hometown. I am glad they worked it all out.

    RIP Sailor.

They ride well. Even if the carbon frames are a bit rough in the layup. Maybe 2 bearing change frame life till a bit loose. Still ride, abuse and sell. The Giga rides amazing.

I have been through a lot of bikes and went back to a custom made steel FS which seems to ride better than the whole previous lot (some real hype bikes included) and just works with me. Also only 2 bearings and ride all year.

Still my dream bike would be a new mint Supreme SX.

his might be a crap pic that makes the trail look flat* but it was the first time Mrsstu got down Nae Spleens at the Golfie. Her heart rate was showing 190 at the bottom. 😂

Every time I used to ride it I would try pickup loads of dropped water bottles in the steep sections but was hard to stop and collect haha.

I may have to go back to work! Or downsize the stable! EEwings anyone?

Just finished a refurb on the house I bought when I moved to Scotland from abroad. Very energy efficient but no savings now with the new pricing. Even worse than the 60s heating and electrics it replaced :(

The energy companies need to take one for the team here. War footing.

What’s the on one hello Dave like guys ? Read a few things saying there no good at hills etc ?

    Tom

I would say my 27.5 170mm Zeb Dave with a NX groupset climbs steep switchbacks better than my Moxie Full Suspension/Cotic rocketmax test bike with a pretty good spec. Definitely climbs better on Dumyat, Menstrie Glen, Dollar Glen or the Golfie better too. Its a tractor. IMO. Its like the Norco Torrent feels sh1t slow but quicker times.

The Dave above probably the most capable in the stable. Steeper the better. Climbs not far off the Yellow Moxie above but way more planted through choppy trails above Dollar.

Above fun to ride. Long Moxie on 2.8 27.5.

Morph 27.5 up Dollar Glen. Loving the Argotal Endurance in the dry loose stuff.

I think to keep it simple just aim to do 20 pull ups every other day. Not all at one time in the beginning. Even negatives, jump up and lower slowly. Overall strength will massively increase. 50 push ups on the same system too. This is not hype training. It is not fun but the gains will be very good. 2 minute planks too.

Running 5 minutes every day. Small jog warm up followed by 5 minutes (20 sec run/ 10 sec sprint (FLAT OUT) x2 for 1 min) x5. You will be one tough fast bastard and will not mess you up on the bike. If anything you will be faster. Master the basics.

out of curiosity how many dead hang pullups can you do? What is your max bench, squat etc?

My Morph frame arrived so took it on a Ochils shakedown via Ben Cleuch. Missed a full steel FS! Down the Nebit DH it was slippery as hell. Raining for a few hours up top. Argotal may go back on!

I have a portable LG Ac I brought back from the Middle East. Used it in the dry spell summer 2018 which felt a bit more roasty. Not too bad up here in Stirling right now. Nice to have some sun. House about 22 inside. Will see if the AC comes out tomorrow but I doubt it.

I run dual Argotal Endurance (chinese made) and they are fantastic. Great in loose conditions and even in the dust as of late. Great control in wet or super dry steeps. Roll very well too. When I burn through these will try the enduro casing Argotal front and Kryptotal rear.

I wish I could buy out the golf course land. Also the whole Golfie. Charge Ebikes a season pass. Start a key club.

Like it or not it’s a ‘tourist’ location – and with any benefit comes downsides.

Same with Inners, I mean there are now 4 bike shops there. It’s a ‘town’ of 3,000 people of they’ve 4 bike shops plus other retailers, pubs and a whole host of accommodation.

All at a decent level too. On the up!

I got the S AL and it is one of the best lower travel bikes out there IMO. For the money and for most UK stuff it is ideal. Climbs way better than the Hunt/Privateer 141 it replaced. Close to even my old 2020 optic C2 which was a rocket all round.

LoL so the caberston clubhouse area will be like DYFI at the weekends? The golf course closing?

I am all for investment and keeping things afloat in the tweed valley. I just worry for the trails. I have seen them really wearing down since 2018. The extra laps, riding all season etc.
