Nokia 4. Solid all Aluminium frame/chassis/body. Underrated but its a tank. A block of aluminium. Use mine for mtb but I work around it not being waterproof. Runs memory maps, connect, strava and most things.

I have 3 frames incoming 6 weeks out at least .

Norco DJ , Privateer 161 and lastly a Morph steel FS.

Had all the build kit arrive and honestly the cardboard fills an entire blue bin. Its shameful.

Endura Mt500 for trail and IXS trigger FF for enduro (much better than TLD stage IMO). Simple and decent protection.

:The mistake you have made OP, is to assume that they are an alternative to a MTB. They are of course, an alternative to a road bike.

    Well said.

I guess it depends how long you ride for. I have been through the whole gravel thing, had a nice frame built up by Cotic. I think it was a good step to get the feel for that kind of bike. If I lived urban the roadrat would be the bomb. I did enjoy it for a while but I live in the tweed valley. Why the hell would you be riding a gravel bike when the steeps (sort of) are on the door step. 35lb bike. 63 degree head angle, 80 deg STA. Yes please everyday. Strong quads and 20 miles is about as long as I want to be on a bike. I have a slack HT and even that can still do the distance. Under lockdown it is the perfect training rig between heavy weight training and nothing like a 30lb HT for 10 miles after Squats. Rather than any CX rig I would look at a high spec XC bike.

I got a nice few dh lines & a blue trail over the back wall in the woods. Steep and a minute to access. I have not been riding them as of late. It is tempting. Trailforks ridelogs showing it is busy. Folks even releasing edits on youtube.

I have a an Olympic/hammer strength home gym and that has been my main thing along with few 400m sprints EOD through an open field. I have held off biking for 4 weeks now. Sucks.

I have one, The S2 with some mods.

I have had a moxie, BFE 27.5, blue pig and a BTR ranger. The Torrent is by far the most aggressive feeling of the lot. Climbs well too. Not tiring or anything. The steep seat angle helps with steep climbs and your not feeling totally spent at the top. If you are hammering steep downs then this is the HT for you. This is not a poppy fun bike on flat trails. It needs steep terrain to enjoy.
Never struck a pedal through tech, has a high BB. Never been to any trail and felt outgunned on the dh side(common sense). With tire inserts I have even done a bike park or two before this Covid crap.

Been through a few AM/Enduro bikes such as the Commencal meta, Vitus Sommet, Focus Sam C, DMR SLED. This HT owns all those IMO and climbs better than the above mentioned. I no longer have any AM/Enduro FS rigs. Torrent does all the thrash and big mountain stuff. It is my ideal all mountain bike for Scotland. The moxie was close too but the Torrent has the edge on the downs. I have a 120mm trail bike for flatter trails and a Dh rig for park etc. I think the torrent fits in nicely.

I have a size large with 480mm reach. 5ft 11, 33″ inseam and it feels right in the middle. Not too short or too long.

There are a few good reviews around.

I have a DH line out back that folks are still riding and building on. Some bits there is no room for error. Their houses are about 100 ft away from the pushup. What to do.
