Have an X01 to go on my Morph cycles steel FS. Do not think I will be going back to cables anytime soon but still keeping a spare GX mech for trips.

Its worth a shot. I got some time on the 2019 rustler just after it was introduced. Has a very nice carbon frame and found it good everywhere. I would get one if I did not have a steel frame to build up and a carbon YT to maintain.

There is a UK agency/distributor. Lyon. Nice looking frame. Gets good reviews. Singletracks latest issue has a review.

I have a capra 27.5 and maybe I am going crazy but it climbs better than my old 2020 29er Norco optic (rip stolen) :P Got PRs this last weekend on all the climbs around the tweed valley. Capra running cane creek suspension, carbon wheels and ti cranks. Its light. I feel like it climbs better than all the other bigger bikes I have have tested and not by all means the slowest on the downs. Its shorter but just so much fun. On the Golfie this past week (local) along with Innerleithen I think for me it has been the best bike so far. I cannot get along with 29ers on super steep terrain. With ref to: Meta 29er, Privateer, Moxie FS at 160mm, Megatower. Spent weeks with these bikes.

Front wheel clamp. One of the easiest options tbh. My supreme did not work with clamp on frame mount which sent me in the durection of the highroad mount. I have a megatower, moxie full sus and after a dirty ride I would not want to frame clamp it.

Ive been really surprised by the alpinestar paragons. Lasting well around the tweed valley and been hitting multiple hills all day. Good protection as well for trail.

Steel FS 160mm or Steel 150mm Hardtail

Right now my fav bike in my stable is my steel torrent. I have quite a few nice bikes but always go back to it.

I once left a pub in Scotland, as i walked out the back door this dude was really beating on this girl. Like punches to the face. I step in and threw him in a burn below the pub. Then the girl starts beating on me for beating his ass.

I would say that one of the best climbing 29er long travel bikes is the new stereo 170. Its less aggressive than the privateer and feels more like a poppy trail bike but can handle most. I have a 161, Norco Optic and a Enduro Expert. The Cube in my riding group climbs better and descends closely to them. Just not as stable through really rough stuff. Suits a smooth rider.

The scout is great. Simple and good everywhere.

A yakima highroad should fit it. Fits all my HPP bikes. I have a lot of time on the Privateer 161, druid and norco optic. My money would be on the new Norco Sight all around use. The optic is the fastest everywhere IMO yet still being able to go big. Just a harsher ride everywhere.

Being said as I do not have any money left after the above I have settled on a Morph cycles steel FS and hoping to build it soon. 140 or 160 forks. Keep the 160mm fork in a guncase for parks and racing and 140 mostly around tweed valley.

I have a privateer 161 and finding it climbs well on all the local stuff and does not leave me too smoked at the summit. My climb times are not far off my Norco Optic. The Norco was amazingly fast everywhere but when things got very rough it took a bit more care and focus on long downs. The 161 is very fast on the downs and a pretty playful bike. Frame was also cheap. I was going for the Norco Sight after spending 2 days on it. The new norco frames are excellet. The optic and sight are amazing bikes. Still I could not put big money into another carbon 29er so thh 161 fit the bill nicely and seems to cover all the bases at the moment. I am comparing the 161 to a DMR sled (weirdly have all my PRs uphill with this frame), Focus Sam Carbon, Vitus Sommet (one of the fastest bikes I have had) Commencal Meta 27& 29, Giant Reign adv1.

I purchased a few bikes the last few months from Evans. The last bike being delivered 2 weeks ago. All shipped in under 10 days. No issues. This was to Scotland.

If yall see a norco optic on the streets of Edinburgh or Glasgow let me know.

I have had a few bikes from Evans and always had good service.

Norco optic I would say is the perfect bike for the UK. I have used mine around the tweed valley since Feb on all the trails, riding around town. Between towns etc. Even the DH farm at Portsoy. Just be careful, it handles it. Then also the 20 mile ride after and your not blown up.

I should just rigid my 2020 torrent. It will be nuts.

5Sc on rpm arms and some chassis braces. Also track pipe. It jumps high and takes a beating. Kept the motor stock. Do no use it much. Running the onboard batt on 5x charge/discharge cycle atm.
